The pad Thai goong sod has a fried egg which was perfectly fried and it comes with shrimp and tofu which is always a great combination. I loved how to the egg was scramble separately like a pancake and the spices and peanuts were on a banana leaf. It was very filling and so tasty. The shrimp were big and juicy. It was a little difficult finding the restaurant. It's near the Dallas Farmers market but not actually inside the food hall. The restaurant is a small cafe with good cozy ambiance. You order in front and they bring the food to your table. I ordered the dumplings as an appetizer and Pad Krapow. Both were very flavorful, authentic, and fresh tasting. The high star ratings for this restaurant is deceiving! I was craving soup and decided to try Ka-Tip. Right away, it felt odd that the place was empty despite being across from the Farmers Market. The cashier recommended the Tom Yum, but the "16oz" portion for $12.50 looked more like 10oz. I asked about adding noodles and suddenly the total was $20--the math just wasn't mathing. When I politely declined, she brushed me off with an attitude. I went to Zaap Kitchen instead and got a generous 20oz Tom Yum with rice for $12.98. Huge difference. It all makes sense now--not just why the restaurant is empty, but also why so many low star reviews mention the same thing: the prices don't add up, the portions are stingy, and the service isn't welcoming. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Dallas area so far. I think it tastes more authentic to me compared to the other places I've been to. I had lunch there today but I've been here before- maybe 5 times or so? The only downside is that they do charge automatic gratuity at the register where you order- they didn't use to but started a while back at some point. Pad Thai- I get this all the time lol. So good. Green curry- we ordered it without choosing a spice level. It's pretty spicy! Luckily we can handle it and it's tolerable. Just be careful if you can't handle spice very well- ask for less or something if possible. It's delicious though! Crab fried rice- had previously and also good. Beyond terrible service!! They have lost a loyal customer for life. We have been a few times and we were excited to stop by after a day at the farmers market. Honestly the lady at the register was so awful we just walked out. Sad because we always order enough for multiple meals bc there's no Thai in our area but we were super disappointed this time. We left and happily found another place about 2 miles away where the staff were MUCH more pleasant. Awesome place! I've been in this area for 2 years, and today i had the opportunity to try this place out. Service was excellent, you order at the front counter and choose take out or to go. Service fee of 15% is added on if dining inside. Depending on how much you buy, i'd say the fee is valid. Ambiance was lovely, everyone around just speaks amongst each other and it's very peaceful. Good was excellent, portions are very well for the price i'd say. I didn't finish my bowl, but my boyfriend was able to. I left about half a bowl which i took home. I'd like to also add I think the service fee is valid, as the front lady was very attentive and brought us refills very often. In all honesty I will be back soon! Great spot. read more

When asked to remove my tip the owner instead removed the service charge instead which was less than my tip. I wanted to like Ka-Tip because of everything we heard about its authenticity and how delicious it was, but I did not think it stood out from most of the other good/legit Thai places in the area. The larb gai was unbelievably spicy to the point where the spice dominated the dish. The spice was also the type that was just painful and did not compliment the other flavors of the dish. Beware of the kick! Ka-Tip's spice levels are no joke but the food has the aromatics of street food in Thailand. We had a rice bowl and noodles. Found this little Thai place while walking around the Dallas Farmers market across the street. I was really craving thai food and this place did just the job at satisfying that craving. The pad thai and the coconut based soup were one of my favorites with abundant flavors and texture profiles. The cashier was very helpful in explaining certain dishes as well as making sure we had enough water on that hot summer day. As for the seating they have both indoor and outdoor options with great lighting and cute decor. Very cute, very friendly, family-owned Thai restaurant around the corner from the Dallas Farmers Market. My friend and I visited on a Saturday for lunch. The area was bustling because of the farmers market, so the parking was a little bit difficult to maneuver, but we had a great time nonetheless! We walked in and ordered almost immediately - the restaurant was not too busy when we got there, but people filed in afterwards. What we got: - iced tea, Thai tea: I tried some of the Matcha and Thai tea, and they were both too sweet for me, so I went with simple iced tea. My friend really enjoyed the Thai tea though! They give you large glasses of the drinks, too! - pork & shrimp dumplings with garlic soy: Our favorite out of what we tried. Very flavorful and lovely, small bites! Comes with 5 pieces. - chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce: I liked the chicken skewers - almost like teriyaki in that it is drizzled with a sweet-ish sauce, and you can dip it in peanut sauce. Good for sharing - I think it came with 3 skewers. - Thai papaya salad (tomato, long bean, dried shrimp, carrot, peanut): Definitely spicy! But in a good way. Has peanuts sprinkled on top. - chicken green curry with multigrain rice (Thai eggplant, bamboo shoot, basil): Also spicy! Not sure if you can adjust the spice level - they did not ask when we made our orders. This came out pretty spicy, I'd say 3/5 spice level. But still very tasty. I love the multi-grain rice, too! Feels healthy. - pad thai (stir-fried rice noodle with shrimp, peanut, bean sprouts, chive, shallot, egg, tamarind sauce): I thought that the pad thai was good, but I'm not much of a noodles person to begin with. It does come with large shrimp, so those were tasty! We had to get the curry and pad thai to go as we had leftovers, and they have a special to-go box for the curry - with a compartment for the rice that stacks on top of curry! I also noticed that they use recyclable plates/bowls, rather than glassware, so that's interesting! I loved our lunch here - very efficient, as our orders came out within 10 minutes of ordering! I definitely wanna come back to try some of their other dishes! And I'd recommend this place for to-go orders, as well! read more

I don't why I thought I typed a review years ago! but here is a honest review summing up all the 5 times I've visited this location. I took my mom. Last July '22 and the food flavor and taste consistency is impeccable. The Service is very chilled and everyone is served with the same courtesy and politely. We also go during the day on a weekday so it's not to many people. I like going for me time and getting my favorite the quail egg wontons and the pad Thai the shrimp and a Thai tea. Ambiance is chill and the clean and so are the rest rooms. They also have outdoor seating which is perfect in warm day. Cucumber water is self serving and free. I love the hand sanitizer station as well. I always recommend this location and I plan on visiting a six time with my girlfriends so they can have the opportunity to taste this delicious food! read more

This is yet another pre-pandemic review that I have come back to write, simply because we enjoyed their food and their little restaurant so very much. Ka-Tip Thai in the Dallas Farmer's Market has already received so many accolades, my review is actually hardly necessary. It was February though when we were there and what first struck me was their dining room. They were trying to bring us into their world with a blackboard wall and chalk drawing of street life in Thailand and how their vision for their food was to transport us there. Ka-Tip, a "quick trip!" They also shared, in this tiny dining room, the broad vision the king has for the betterment of the Thai people in Thailand and how, over 70 years, it's been his life's work. You have to try to stay out of the way while you're taking it all in. It's a terrific idea, though. The blackboard wall takes up one wall of the restaurant and a banquette bench is beneath with a few tables and chairs opposite. There's two other stand alone tables and then patio seating. They bring your food to the table - meticulous flavorful and well prepared Thai street food. My spouse and I shared everything - Green Papaya Salad, Larb Gai, Pork and Shrimp Dumplings and Tom Kha Gai soup with Rice. I've never seen lovelier street food and all of it was served in thoughtful ecoware. My spouse felt that the portions were perhaps a little small. I thought everything was perfect, although I'm a big fan of cucumber slices, tomato and lettuce with my larb and there was only a small amount of lettuce. This family really seems to enjoy what they're doing. Or they were. I hope they still are. When last we checked, they were doing takeout!
