Dear Thai Ocha, I know that you haven't heard from me in a couple weeks, so I just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive and doing well. With some free time on my hands, I've been trying to explore some of the larger [not so] nearby cities. Some say that absence makes a heart grow fonder. I've certainly found that the more time I spend away, the more I think about the pad thai with the crispy shell, and the pad kee mow which is probably the best I've ever had, and the delicious Khao Soi which will probably give me a heart attack some day. Real authentic Thai food in town. All dishes are tasty and fast. This place is always crowded in the evening, especially on Fri and Sat night. Make a reservation if you will be there more than 5 people. I'd recommend their fresh rolls which are SO good! They come with peanut sauce (it's a little bit sweet, good choice though). The curry should be PANANG, GREEN, and CHUCHEE. The fried noodle must be PAD KEE MOW and THAI SUKIYAKI STIR FRIED. The best noodle soup I really love is KHAOSOI. I've never tried other places but it's so unique here. Cashew Delight and Garlic dish are also famous. Their staffs are super nice and help. Try their Thai Iced Tea..taste so gooood. read more

Very good food here. We started with the shrimp rolls and found them delicious. The shrimp was seasoned well. I ordered their combo fried rice which included beef, chicken and pork. I like my food spicy so ordered it at 5. I couldn't finish it because it was a big portion. My wife ordered the spicy basil chicken fried rice and she was very happy with her dish as well. Does anyone ever comment on water? Most places I go the water isn't drinkable. It was actually good here. I think next time I come by I will try something new. Hands down the best Thai curry. I prefer the green my husband loves the duck curry. We have tried other items on the menu as well. The Tom Kha with vegetables is so full of great veggies with a variety that you don't see many places. By far my favorite Thai in the USA! The curry puffs are delightful. The salad rolls are my favorite either with shrimp or tofu. Then I always get a curry or the Koi Soy (spelled wrong I'm sure). Definitely amazing. Love BYOB :) If you have always wanted to try Thai food go here and no where else. If you are worried about hot ask that your dish be prepared with no spice or a level 0. We have been going here for years.. Always good food - no complaints there. However, even before COVID the service has gone downhill. While dining in it takes an act of Congress to even get a refill let alone your check so you can pay and leave. Now with COVID, the service is still bad and continues to get worse. I will still try them again but if the service is still bad we are going to have to find a new place to go.. **Edited to add: we eat here once a month - and we have been since it's gone from no dine in to dine in again to no dine in. Even since before COVID service has gone downhill. We keep trying but it keeps getting worse. Tonight - quoted 30 mins for pick up ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes. In the end, isn't this review merely a representation, a feeble shadow of an unforgettable dinner? Thai Ocha has FOOD SO GOOD IT MAKES YOU PHILOSOPHICAL. Look, I'd never been to Denton before yesterday, but is it NORMAL around here to have world class food at a hole in the wall? If so, I'm driving up here every weekend. I ate here with a big group of friends, and it was one of the best dinners we've ever enjoyed together. From the appetizers all the way through dessert, everything had most assuredly been created with the utmost care in the kitchen (plating was well done); housed complex flavors including but not limited to heat, mint, citrus, pineapple, savory, and garlic; and service was extremely friendly and helpful. Perhaps one thing you should keep an eye toward is the time. The folks at Thai Ocha take a little time between your courses, so don't plan to come here for a quick bite. I love this place so much I found myself bragging about it on a separate review for a completely different restaurant lol. Ordered a while back so I can't remember every detail, but we had the green curry, the duck, and a bunch of other stuff. Ugh, it was all so delicious. I can't believe I'd never eaten there before. Everything was so rich, vibrant, flavorful. This used to be one of my favorite spots for dinner. I was there at least twice a week, to dine in or get an order to go. Until I bit down on a piece of metal. Clearly from cleaning instruments. I complained and was told I could get a dessert for free. Well ok I can forgive an issue just once in a while. Then it happened again. Twice. I got asked if I was just saying this to get free things. My sister ordered from Thai Ocha a week ago and when my brother in law was told to pick up the food within a certain time he got there and waited for at least 45 minutes for the order. We gave Thai Ocha second try last night... was so disappointed. Waited again for the take out order for 40 minutes and the food (shrimp pad Thai, masamun curry) was just unreal. I have had thai food for the last 35 years and this is one of the most disappointing experience I have had. Pad Thai was lumpy, shrimps over cooked. Masamun Curry was too sweet. This is my favorite place to get yellow curry and basil fried rice. Not to mention the vegetable egg rolls are so crispy and amazing. I've tried a lot of different places and the egg rolls are really soggy but these are awesome. It's a nice little restaurant off of Malone street. The staff is pretty nice and does a great job of accommodating the customers. I also love the fact that they have no problem making your food as spicy as you would like and don't hold back. The best Thai food in Denton. Well, maybe a tie with Andaman. I guess you could say it's a Thai tie. :-| Thai Ocha has the best fresh veggie rolls with peanut dipping sauce. It is super fresh, crunchy veggies wrapped in the thin rice sheet. Amazing! My wife loves their peanut chicken entree. Gets it every time without fail. I like their pad Thai dish. Super tasty and very generous portion. We usually finish it off with some sticky rice for desert. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it! On occasion we will dine in but we usually get it to go. Almost always by the time I place the order over the phone, get ready to head out and then get over there the food is ready. Usually about 15 minutes on average (even though they usually say it'll take longer). :) I feel like they have very reasonable prices and generous portions. This has been very good for us usually, mostly consistent only a few times the meat wasn't very tender/juicy over the many years we eat here. Has been great service and positive staff, very attentive and kind. We get various dishes here, Thai curries, and Thai tea for sure. So much NO for this place. I was so hopefully after reading positive reviews..but here's what our experience was: Dirty bathroom and overall look of the restaurant, tables & chairs. My son ordered lemonade- it came right from those big cans that you mix in with water. Pretty sure we were charged $2 something for that. He didn't drink it. I ordered the spicy beef salad. The meat looked like chicken and there was a lovely long dark hair in my lettuce. Not great flavor and definitely didn't want to take the leftovers home. My daughter had the chicken pad se ew noddles with chicken. None of us could tell which part were noodles, or onions (possibly?), chicken, or some type of chicken gristle. It was a mushy mess. On a positive note, the prices weren't bad, the service was fine, and the chicken satay app was really good! read more

Apparently, my original review from late last year was taken down? I cannot find it.......but I too have been going to this Thai restaurant for years and I'm now very disappointed! Firstly, it's basically inaccessible for my 91 year old father-in-law due to the tall cement step out front (forget about wheelchairs) and I could never figure out how they haven't been forced to amend this by the city. But our most recent weekday lunch special bill for two came to over $35.00 including tip?? All proteins are now optional. No wonder there was but on single table occupied during our nearly one hour visit during their normally very busy prime lunchtime weekday special. I just wish someone had warned me that prices had suddenly nearly doubled. I know about inflation and costs etc. but I just cannot see ordering my favorite Chicken Delight dish with chicken as an upgrade! read more

We've been going to this place for over a year and something is different. Whether it's new ownership or a new chef please try and go back to what it was. We got the chicken pad Thai (that was darker than normal, less flavor and no tofu which used to always be included, the chicken was dry) and the beef noodle soup that wasn't as flavorful as before. Worst experience ever tonight. I normally wouldn't write a review, especially negative, but I had to explain the terrible state of this place. Just to clarify I never had a bad experience here with the previous owners and had been a loyal patron for over the past 5 years. The "manager" continually walked past my empty table for 45 minutes. She also made a comment to the table next to me (who waited over 15 mins before a server noticed her) its great that I don't have to "jump in to show them how it's done" are you kidding? What kind of service is this? Are your customers not important? Is your reputation not important? Are they not the ones who technically pay everyones salary there? Who in their right mind would think this is service, when people are sitting for over 30 minutes without an explanation of why it's taking so long. Not to mention the to go orders who couldn't get the "phones" to work, so they had to place it in store and wait an hour. I am ashamed for the previous owners to have worked so hard to build a loyal customer base just for the new owners to shit all over that legacy. What a disgrace.
