Very delicious Thai food! Having been to many Thai restaurants in the Denton/ Dallas area, this one definitely stacks up. I had the basil fried rice and my husband had Pineapple Curry. Both of our meals were delicious! I had a level 2 spice and thought it was not very spicy. (If you enjoy heat, I would recommend getting a higher spice level.) This update is long overdue! We've had Thai Monkey many times since the first visit and it's consistently good! Excellent flavors, always hot and tons of food. Penang Curry and drunken noodles are my fave dishes. I would like to get a little bit more rice for the curry to match the ratio of curry to rice. read more

This was my first and last time trying out food from here. I placed an online order for the following: Tom Yum Soup with Tofu, Basil stir fry(with jasmine rice) and drunken noodles with tofu(No eggs). When I go to pick up the order, the lady at the counter tells me that she already gave my order to Uber driver that came to pick it up. I showed her the order on my phone, and she repeatedly told me "it's gone" gave it to other person. She refused to re-make the order, even when I showed her that I paid for it. Her manager then came, and apologized that they accidentally gave it to someone else. They are making it again. When the order did come, instead of the Basil stir fry, they had given me fried rice with eggs with basil leaves. I told her that's not what I ordered, she then made the right item. She told me in the end, sorry, we don't make veg items too much, hence the errors. If you don't make veg items, why do you have them on the menu to begin with. This was a terrible experience and I would not come here again. Also the restaurant is pretty run down, chairs with their covers ripped, and dirty floors. Since I was picking up take out, I will not elaborate on this too much. read more

Our first experience here. Upon arrival it was clean and mostly empty. We were pleasantly greeted and seated. Our table had napkins as placemats. We received a colorful menu and recommendation from the waiter. We got a simple starter iceberg salad. But it was fresh and crunchy. One thing my husband and I notice about a lot of downtown Roanoke food places is inconsistency with the quality of the food. This place is not one of those places! Every time we order from here the food tastes amazing, always hot and fresh. Finally found a great Thai food restaurant near me; this place is excellent! The food was perfect, fresh, delicious and came out quickly. We had the sticky rice and mango dessert and it was the best I have had, unusually large portion too. The service was exceptional! We loved the whole experience. Located In the historic Roanoke area where tons of people were waiting in long lines for BBQ, burgers and comfort food...all great...but this little gem was almost empty! My husband and I decided to have date night here, we had been here once before and thought it was pretty good. Fast forward, we are 1 of 3 other people in the restaurant (its was an early dinner-5:30p), so we sat down and ordered drinks, appetizers (soup and calamari), and our meals. The appetizers were brought out and in the interim a few other people trickle in......so we are now sitting waiting on our food and a different waitress came over and handed us our ticket $26.95, and I said "I am sorry,but we havent received our meals yet", she said "oh I am sorry let me go check". She came back and said "your ticket fell on the floor so it will be just a few more mins". Now the restaurant is full (it is now 6:20), we wait....wait.....wait....wait....wait....everyone has their food except us. It is now 7:15p and had been there since 5:30) and still have not eaten. We left $30 cash (which I did NOT want to do) and we left. HORRIBLE way to spend our date night which we dont get often!!! read more

I so badly wanted this to be a 4-5 star review! Every week we make a conscious effort to support local food businesses during the stay at home order from government. The food was delayed for pickup yet was not hot 5 minutes later. The curry was water and coconut flavoured - no spice, curry, salt, ginger. I had to remake it at home, which defeated the purpose of ordering out. Curry is Thai 101. My only guess is they ran out of pre-made sauce and watered it down. The broccoli had turned yellow, at home that's when I throw it, not give it to my family let alone customers. My son said the pad Thai was good. Interesting since that's more effort than a curry. Ordered takeout and received massaman chicken and pad see-ew chicken. The pad see-ew chicken was a little dry and tough but had a good flavor. I really enjoyed the flavor of the massaman curry UNTIL I found a bug in the dish. Needless to say, I was disgusted by this and will never order or dine here again. After many many years of dining with Thai chili (now Thai monkey), I just can't believe I'm not alone in this experience (see other reviews). read more

Such a great restaurant!! Excellent service and kind staff who helped me find a vegan substitute. The decor was so beautiful and the atmosphere was great, even with covid precautions. I had the yellow curry made vegan and it was sooo good. The vegtables were fresher and well cooked and the curry sauce was the perfect mix of sweet, creamy, and spicy. Decided to try something new for lunch today and Thai Monkey did NOT disappoint. Started with the steamed dumplings that were unlike any other dumpling I've had: a little spicy and more dense. Very good! Then I had the lunch portion chicken pad Thai at a medium heat level. It was perfectly delicious!! The service was extraordinarily attentive, too. Seriously though, Mon is one of the nicest people you'll meet, always great service and keeps genuine conversation.
