The outside of the building did not really call out for us to go in, but don't let that fool you. This is some of the best Thai food in the area. We have never eaten at the restaurant because we have young children that keep us from enjoying sit down meals for now but we have frequently ordered take out from here and my wife and I love it. We always get a few orders of the Gyoza and the beef fried rice is awesome! We've also tried some of their stir fry dishes and they've all been amazing. Do Not Come Here! Ordered a new item "Tiger Cry" and was immediately disappointed. The meat was dry, cold, and extremely tough. I told the server and she apologized and said she would let the chef know. She walked away not offering me anything else. I ate off of my wife's Pad Thai plate and waited to see our server again. She noticed my plate was still untouched and came back with the check. The check included the Tiger Cry that I had just complained about and I quickly told her that I wasn't about to pay for a meal that was terrible and that I didn't eat. She came back a few minutes later and told me the best she could do was give me a 20% off of the plate. Needless to say, I won't be back to this place. read more

Rarely do I give 5 stars but hands down the best curry I've ever had. We ordered the fried tofu, veggie spring rolls, beef pad see yew, and pineapple curry. Exceptional - all of it. The spring rolls were hot, fresh and crispy not gushy in the middle like we've had at some places in TX (some places freeze them.) There was actually more beef than noodles - we've never seen that. The curry has such extraordinary depth of flavor. On a side note, our water glasses never went empty. Under construction it's a little tough to get to but absolutely worth it. I had a dish the waitress described as fish with "not sweet" curry with onions. It was just disgustingly gross. It was indeed a sweet curry like a massiman or similar and I'm guessing perhaps it had bitter melon in it too. Sure would have been nice if she had filled me in on that little tidbit. I really felt the need to support a local restaurant during this pandemic. This used to be our go to place during office lunch hours. Definitely doesn't disappoint, had my usual Spicy Thai basil fried rice (chicken) great portion size, love the amount of veggies, meat to rice ration very satisfying meal. It came with a spring roll and sweet sauce which made a perfect complete meal. So glad they are still here despite such difficult time. This is one of my favorite places to go for Thai food. The drunken noodles are legit! They have different types of spice levels especially when it comes to the liquid spice vs powdered so make sure you ask which one they are using. I get a 3 and it's perfect for me. This place used to be Thai Chili which wasn't to bad, I kinda liked them. Now we have a Thai Monkey, the inside looks a lot better than the old place and the person I dealt with was very pleasant. I got the Drunkin Noodles with the spice level a 3, Thai Dumplings and Crab Rangoons. The noodles were great, spiced just right and a good portion. However, to me it seemed that the dumplings and rangoons may have been factory made, they just seemed to uniform to be hand made. The good part of this was they tasted pretty good. This is indeed authentic Thai kitchen. I came here with family. What a surprise to have such a real Thai taste restaurant opened in this area. The staffs are very kind and nice as same as Thai people. Kao Soi Kai aka. Yello Curry Noodle with Chicken is the Must try dish. It's a authentic dish from the northern of Thailand where I grew up. The chef made it perfect taste. If you want to try the authentic Thai dishes, this is the BEST place in this area. I love the decoration too. I felt like I was in Thailand. New owners, new name in a location that was previously a Thai restuarant but they have brought Thai authenticity to Roanoke and I love it.. staff was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions. The decor has been updated and you can feel the change in the atmosphere. Papaya salad salad was excellent. We were driving home through Roanoke and thought we'd give this place a try for a late lunch. We decided to order off the Authentic Thai menu and the waitress recommended the broccoli and fried pork entree, and a ground chicken dish. Unfortunately the food was not great. The pork was way over cooked, hard and mostly inedible. The broccoli was stringy and undercooked. The chicken dish was OK but nothing special. Worse thing of all though was that both dishes had absolutely no flavor. This is Thai food, right? One other thing - the odor of the mens restroom was like walking into a sewer. Not good. read more

Great food, nice location, friendly owners, but argumentative young American at front desk I discovered this place a few weeks ago via Google Maps. I love Thai food, and Thai Monkey is only 10 minutes from where I work. I have eaten there twice. The food is absolutely delicious, and their Pad Thai is some of the best I've ever had. They spice it to your order (I generally tell them to take it up to level 5). The food appears at your table quickly and is reasonably priced. The Thai owners and staff are very polite and efficient. It is a pleasure to eat there, and I had intended to return. Naturally, I thought of this place for a takeout order for my team's holiday lunch at work. I went online this morning and placed an order for three servings of Pad Thai, with beef, pork, and shrimp, respectively. I got an e-mailed acknowledgment and went at 11:15 to pick it up, as promised. Just as I pulled into their parking lot, my phone rang, and it was one of their staff calling about my order. She asked what kind of meat I wanted with the sweet and sour. Since I hadn't ordered sweet and sour, I was confused and said I didn't understand the question. To my amazement, she became argumentative and began speaking to me in an impertinent, patronizing tone that was thoroughly offensive. Mistakes can happen, and they took the order off my tab. The Thai person who participated in the discussion was very nice. But the young American woman was insufferable, and if this is the kind of attitude I can expect there, I will think twice before going back. The owners need to consider whether they are doing themselves any favors by having her be the face of their restaurant. read more

After a long drive, we wanted a nice, sit down restaurant to enjoy our evening. What came up was the 'best Thai in Roanoke'. Maybe they were right, because it was probably the only Thai restaurant in Roanoke. Regardless, of that the ambiance was nice and decorative with face masks and tapestries hung around the walls. We ordered the spring rolls and shrimp dumplings for starters. The shrimp was unique with an interesting flavor that detracted from the shrimpiness of the dumpling. The spring rolls were a huge quantity that came at the same time as our main dishes. They were very lettuce forward and not enough peanut sauce came with it. The main reason I gave this place four stars, was because of the yellow curry. The sauce was very creamy and went well with the chicken, onions, potatoes and carrots in the dish. I would also recommend trying rice with it on the side to soak up the flavor. Overall, I had mixed feelings about Thai Monkey, and might want to try a different place the next time we are in town. read more
