The Salad Kag was a great starter. The peanut sauce was very good, my wife ordered a small container for take out. Just but iceberg lettuce and we got home made salad. Also ordered the Thai Kitchen Fried Rice which is good enough as meal by itself. Also got the Choo Chee Pompano which was outstanding. They work the curry, peanut sauce and coconut cream to perfection. The best curry dish I've had so far. Going back to try the other curry dish. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is the ambiance. The restaurant is old albeit clean enough. The interior could use more Thai theme decor and some ambient music the complete the experience. The food however is 5 . I am really sad. I have been wanting to eat Thai for a while now. Bad mistake to choose the restaurant at the top of the list. Do not get the sticky sweet rice with mango. The mango was great but the rice was the opposite of great. It was SALTY! It had too much liquid. The Penang curry was ok but it had a squash or zucchini in it. No bell peppers to be found. One of my fave spots for Thai food. The decor isn't the prettiest and I think the lighting at night could be better, but the food is delish! Friendly staff, they don't rush you. Well the times I've been there I've never been rushed. I love the Pad Thai with tofu, Thai spring rolls are average, yellow curry with chicken was full of chicken (the bowl seems small for the price, it was also lacking in carrots and potatoes, they should put a little more vegetables and use a bigger bowl), fried rice is ok, next time we'll try the pineapple fried rice. Unfortunately, tonight's dinner was a disappointment. Ordered Pad Thai and Yellow curry chicken with extra basil on the side. The UberEats estimated delivery time got pushed back twice, First time, the Uber driver was waiting at the restaurant, the second time (~10 min later), a new Uber driver had been assigned (guessing the first driver gave up). Second driver finally stared on his way to deliver, but midway, was stopped for at least 10-13 minutes. Once we got the dinner, there was a handwritten note on the outside indicating our two orders and a side of basil - but there was no basil. The carrots and potatoes in the curry were not cooked well (ie soft) and the pad thai was all clumped up as if a solid block of noodles (maybe the longer than expected delivery?). On a positive note, the spice levels were to order and the side of white rice was fresh. Given this experience, not sure we can recommend to others Correction: The side of basil was found under the container of curry when we had finished and were washing out the containers before recycling read more

First time ordering here. We are in shelter in place because of covid-19. I have ordered from most local restaurants the past two weeks. So the food. The mussa mun beef was the best dish. The garlic pork good but greasy. The pad thai, which should be a hit at all thai restaurants, was only ok. My son commented that the beef is dry like beef jerky. He was absolutely correct when i sampled a piece. The green chicken curry was good but sauce was runny/watery, almost like a soup. Overall, not a good first experience. I love Thai Kitchen! I've been coming here since 2008 and they have never disappointed me. I think they did get a new cook, but the food still tastes delicious. My go to dishes are the fried calamari (which I think they cook it in rings now), chicken tom yum soup, angel wings, and pad thai. It's extremely delicious and they never disappoint me. Haha. My boyfriend and I ordered a few things: the tempura chicken, this fish I don't remember the name of, and pineapple fried rice. Since it was a lunch special, soup was also included. Personally. I liked the tempura chicken and pineapple fried rice. The tempura fried rice had just the right amount of crunch and the sauce included complimented it very well. The pineapple fried rice tasted like what I expected from pineapple fried rice to taste like. The fish and free soup that was included was just meh. I think the soup needed some spiciness to it or at least some pepper to not make it bland. When my boyfriend ordered the fish, I think he was expecting the fried fish that you can get at Sala Thai in Fremont. So when the food came out he looked a little disappointed. but I mean he still ate it anyways haha. Overall I would give this Place 3.5 stars. I recently discovered this restaurant on a different delivery app and I've ordered the yellow vegetavle curry with jasmine rice along with a Thai tea twice . It's absolutely delicious! Thai food is our favourite one. We are vegetarian and the best part was on there Menu card they clearly mentioned the veggie dishes which made it easy for us to decide on. We ordered Pad Thai, vegetarian rolls and sweat & sour curry and everything was so yummy. Servers were really sweet and welcoming. The downside was there is no music and there were few small insects around the place and flying around the food too which made it so uncomfortable for us to eat. FISH CAKES! If you read my reviews, you are aware of my love affair for Thai fish cakes. We go way back to childhood, man. Finding fish cakes in a Thai restaurant is rare because they do take quite an effort to make. Trust me; I've made them from scratch- an all day affair. So, since I live in San Leandro, have plenty of delicious Thai places around me, I hadn't been to this place in over 10 years. I was feeling like fish cakes for my birthday this year, and knew they would deliver unlike the Thai places in my area. I have to say that there are a few things that are good (the fish cakes, tom yum soup, and angel wings, but overall, there aren't too many things that stand out. Some of their dishes are overly sweet or saturated in sauce, when it only need be subtle, or significantly less sauce. Ambiance is great. There is wood all over and some carvings around the windows that you would see in Thailand. Servers are prompt and polite. I drink a lot of water and I never had to ask, she was constantly there to fulfill my thirst needs. In high school, when everyone was going to Jack in the box and McDonald's after school, I'd spend my $5 bill at Thai Kitchen. My GF and fellow rice-eater/craver introduced me to this place and got me hooked on fish cakes and Prararm Beef. The portions on the lunch plates were generous and it was a great way to feed my face with my measly allowance. Fast forward a few years later, the lunch plate prices have gone up to $6.95, but quality and generous portions are the same. They give a lot more than CoCurry or Thai Kitchen. Its also the little things that make a difference, like giving my little one his own bowl of soup (which usually comes only when ordering the lunch combo). Their Fried Banana dessert comes with your choice of plain vanilla or coconut-pineapple ice cream. Ive lived in union city all my life and not until a few years ago, i finally tried out this place with friends. It made me wonder, what took me so long?! Now its my husband and i's favorite date night restaurant. Its super lowkey and the food is DELICIOUS! We always order the same sh*t though lol. Thai tea, garlic prawns or fried prawns, rice, pra ram chicken, chicken see ew, and their fried honey banana with vanilla ice cream. And another one bites the dust. Came here for Mother's Day. We were sat down promptly, vabout 5 minutes. Then we waited and waited for our orders to be taken and it never was taken. When we were first seated two other small groups of 2-3 came after us. In the center was a large group still eating that finished about 5-10 minutes after we arrived. Then a group of 6 came in. When I glanced at them they already looked bored. Then 5-10 minutes after they had been seated their order was taken. We were already getting anxious watching the servers go to and fro to the tables that already had been served, but they never looked our way-and how much more of the two other groups hidden in the back who by the way had already been seated before this larger group? So 2 minutes after the newest group had their orders taken, and the waitress had glanced in our direction but made no indication she was going to take our order we uped and left. That is when they finally noticed our existence. And they didn't offer any apology or any care. They probably were happy they had less customers to serve. I think the waitress/waiters were inattentive not noticing that there were tables that hadn't been served. I guess this business has been around for at least 20 years but they seem like newbies. Like worse than newbies because they're already jaded by running a business. Yeah, yeah it's Mother's Day; it gets busy. I have been out on Mother's Day so I know what I'm talking about: compared to other restaurants this one is just plain weird. So again boo for small businesses that should downsize their restaurants if they can't keep up with their customers. Mind you, my mother is diabetic and we have a little boy with us. So No, I prefer to not wait half an hour just to have my order taken and another hour to be served my food. They don't even have snacks to munch on while waiting. They should consider serving chips and salsa. But you know, they don't really care about the customer's experience or that maybe some people need to eat to maintain blood glucose levels. They can at least give you an estimate at the door for the wait time to be served so you don't waste your time sitting in their dank dark restaurant. I have been to this restaurant in the past and usually it's more empty than full, which is why we chose to go here for Mother's Day because we didn't want to deal with the crowds. I don't suggest this place for holidays because it seems they can't even handle a less than full house. If you want a family owned restaurant to go to, there is a Vietnamese (not Thai) place near Downtown Hayward that has very good customer service and food. read more

Huge parking lot space, so if you're coming in a large party ... no worries plenty of parking for everyone to go around and plenty of seating for large groups. The only downside is that the place is family owned, so if you don't mind waiting for some service then its worth it. There seemed to have been only two people working that night, but we don't mind. We come from a small family owned restaurant too so we know how it is. Ordered the basa spicy fish with eggplant (a special) ... it was so good! Not too salty and plenty of other vegetables. The sauce was not heavy. Served with rice (they have brown rice, win!) Curry was also good. Chicken Yellow curry, nothing special since evey thai place usually has a curry dish. Went there today with a very large group for a birthday party! The staff are the SWEETEST. They not only served us with smiles, but our food was delicious! Pictures will be posted later. My favorites were the angel wings and the BBQ honey beef. Their Thai iced tea is also delicious. There's nothing like Thai food to warm you up when you're a bit under the weather. Not feeling too hungry, we ordered a combination clear soup and rard-nah seafood (flat noodles smothered with seafood and vegetables). The soup was really flavorful. It was filled with a variety of vegetables, tofu and chicken. The rard-nah seafood was also really good. They didn't skimp on the seafood; it came in big pieces. I was actually quite impressed with the food. The service wasn't the best, but I already knew I would be coming back again when I had the food. I judge service by how well my water glass is kept filled and it rarely stayed empty for long. Being a small business in today's economy, it's understandable that they have minimum staffing, so I do expect a little delay now and then, especially when they're busy. The first time I tried Thai kitchen was for take out , after we checked all the reviews we decided on some items we wanted and stopped in. We ordered at the counter as opposed to a phone order. They were super quick with the order. I just barely had the time to walk across the parking lot and grab a drink at the liquor store, maybe 15 minutes. We ordered a ton of take out so we could get a feel for the style and flavor: Gallic Pork Pineapple Fried Rice Pad Thai Green Curry Beef Honey BBQ Pork Spring Rolls The Pad Thia was average, nothing amazing. The Pineapple Fried rice also was sort of average, but when I say average I mean good. It's not one of those things that can really be totally amazing. The Honey BBQ Pork was not what I was expecting at all, I wonder if it would be different if we had been dinning in now that I think about it. It was large pieces of pork, grilled with a very flavorful honey sauce to put over it, the sauce came in a container on the side. The Garlic Pork was great, really flavorful. Now the Green Curry Beef was amazing. Rich green Curry sauce and tons of veggies and beef. Of all the things we ordered the green curry is absolutely hands down the one thing I would order again. I enjoyed the green curry! the curry had a great flavor and balance of coconut milk which wasn't too overpowering. The deep fried salmon had an interesting texture. The batter seemed a little too thick and chewy. (Maybe because we had take out?) The dish was paired with a savory sauce with a thicker consistency on the side in a container for us to pour over the fish. After living in the area all my life, I FINALLY tried Thai Kitchen. I don't know why I waited so long because I've been missin' out! We ordered 3 dishes that could very well feed 3, maybe 4 people, but my fiancé and I are such fatties that we finished EVERYTHING. Here's what we ordered: * Yellow curry with tofu Next time I will order the vegetarian version that comes with a variety of veggies (instead of just potatoes and carrots) and add tofu to that. * Honey BBQ Pork You most definitely should order this dish. The pork is tender, full of flavor and grilled to perfection. You don't even have to dip the meat in the sweet and sour sauce provided. * Chicken fried rice This is great to eat w/ your entrée instead of just plain jasmine rice. Not sure what everyone is raving about... I've tried Thai in Norcal (mainly SJ and Milpitas) and Socal and this place was subpar as is most places in the Bay Area compared to Socal. I had the combination pad thai and spicy salmon. Pad thai was super oily, no spice (even though I did ask for it) and only had two shrimps and no bean sprouts. Salmon was decent but a little dry and the sauce was really oily and weird tasting - I'm glad it was on the side and the salmon 2as not drenched in it. Thai iced coffee was also very sweet. And we all loved it! The service was good as well. The rice was perfectly cooked. The soup was perfect. The beef was really good with a splash of Tom kha soup. Ahhh. That was the perfect bite. Also, tried the garlic shrimp with rice and also a slurp of soup. Ahhhh. Fantastic. You know when you find that perfect bite pairing all the dishes together and it mixes everything in your mouth and it enhances everything all in one bite. For me I have found it here. As my boyfriend and I approached the establishment's storefront, we both hesitated for a bit. The restaurant looked deserted, but like the optimistic person I am, I insisted that we try this place out. Right off the bat I noticed the dark wood paneling reminiscent of the 70s and my pre-renovated family room. Nevertheless, they did a good job in accenting the dark paneling with authentic Thai tapestries and art. I ordered the garlic shrimp, while my boyfriend ordered the honey bbq chicken. Both were extremely tasty and the portions were enough to share. The shrimp was infused with garlic and had a tomato based sauce -- it sort of tasted like Boiling Crab's whole shabang without the spice. The shrimp was delicious and flavorful and accompanied the chicken quite well. The chicken was full of flavor from their special blend of Thai spices and the honey dipping sauce was a good complement. Both dishes were served with rice that was placed in a silver Thai bowl, which added a nice touch. They did not skimp on the aesthetic factor in how their food is plated and served. Service is also excellent. My glass was always full and the waiter was attentive to not only our needs, but also the requests of those who dined around us. He did so in a timely manner as well. The place is also extremely clean as I've seen the waiters spray tables down with Windex immediately after a person is done with their meal and left the restaurant. Unlike some other Thai places I've been to, dishes often sit on a table for a good while before they're picked up. Thai Kitchen is really good about that. The curry was very good....BUT...there was something bizarre about the chicken: rubbery. Like it had a funky taste and was squid-like in texture. So I just pushed it to the side and tried to enjoy the rest of the dish like the non-vegetarian that I am. I would have rated the place 4 stars if it weren't for that culinary 'treat'. I randomly stumbled upon this Thai restaurant when looking for some place to eat dinner with my friends. It was one of the places that had more overall stars so we decided to check it out and dine here. This place was easy to find, especially when I rarely come to this side of Union City. Parking was a breeze and we got a spot right in front, too. Since it was a somewhat late dinner (at around 8pm), there wasn't much of a crowd. The place is kind of small but very culturally decorated, if you get what I mean. We were greeted and seated immediately. The server was very polite and nice. We were handed menus and we were given water right after, too. What quick service! We spent some time to decide what we wanted to eat. We weren't all that hungry since we had a late lunch so we decided to order only a few dishes. We decided to choose one dish each among the three of us. They have a huge selection on everything, whch was pretty great (but we had so much to choose from). We ended up ordering the Pad Thai with shrimp, Green Chili Beef, Yellow Curry with chicken and two orders of steam rice. The food was very good. The Pad Thai was typical, but I wish they had more shrimp in there though. The beef was decent also and it's a good out of the ordinary dish to the regular Thai dishes. The curry was lovely and it's so yummy with the rice! It's simple yet so delicious. All of our dishes were very good and we were pretty filled by only three dishes. It's definitely not the best Thai food I've had, but it's pretty up there! I would come back if I'm ever in the area. Came back here with the little sister for lunch and the experience wasn't as great this time. We ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer, pad see eew again, garlic prawns, and fried banana with coconut ice cream for desert. They give complementary vegetable soup at the beginning of the meal and it was nice and tangy. Chicken satay - chicken on a stick that came with peanut sauce and some veges. It was delicious and I actually preferred it without the sauce. There were 6 slices/sticks and we munched those down. My little sister really enjoyed them too. Pad see eew - my sister ordered this and she got this last time too. I think she liked it more the previous time because it was her first time trying it but it was okay. The noodles were nice and thick but a bit oily. One of the reasons I'm giving this review 2 stars is because when we heated it up at home (we took it home because we couldn't finish it) the chicken tasted totally funky. My sister and I both had to spit it out. Gross, I know. So I don't know what was up with that chicken but it definitely could not handle a reheat. Garlic Prawns - Last time I got Yellow Curry chicken, something I always get on my fist visit to any thai place. This time, I tried something new, so I got the Garlic Prawns. It comes with rice. While the prawns had great flavor, the sauce of the dish is just oil. Like literally, there was rice, prawns, and a sea of oil. It's not the greatest feeling to eat a mixture of rice and oil in my experience. I will definitely not get this again in the future if I come back. Fried Banana and coconut ice cream - I personally don't like coconut ice cream but my sister does so my review for this is a little biased. I really liked the fried banana but would have preferred it with the vanilla ice cream. Definitely recommended it you have a sweet too. Overall, this experience wasn't as good as the last. I may come back but probably not for a while. Definitely won't get the pad see eew or garlic prawns every again but from my previous review it seems that I did like the yellow curry so if I'm ever craving, I'll get it for take out. read more
