93.Thai Ice Tea
Karen W.

Wanted to try a Thai place near my sister's spa appointment and although it was busy on a Friday, we found a table and ordered dishes to share before it got busier. The server was friendly and efficient. The place is cozy and we ordered hot tea, Thai iced tea, green curry chicken, pad kee mao and pad see ew. All came out pretty quickly and were tasty and mildly spicy. We enjoyed sharing the delicious food

I don't know why they only have 3.5 stars but Papaya Thai is our favorite Thai spot in the East Bay. Are they fusion? No! This is an authentic Thai restaurant. They don't try to over complicate their dishes by trying to make it modern or fancy. Instead they serve classic thai dishes that look and taste authentic. The servers are extremely nice and treat you like you're a guest in their home. We've never had a bad dish. My favorite is still the Laos style Papaya Salad. It is a kind of flavor and spice that you just can't stop eating. The panang curry is amazing, but does contain peanuts if you are allergic. My husband's favorite is the garlic fish. They give you huge portions too! We finished our dinner with the Mango with Sticky rice. See you next week!

Had a fantastic meal at Papaya Thai. We tried the chicken satay, drunken noodles, mango sticky rice, and roti paratha--everything was delectable. The roti was perfectly light and not oily at all, which was a real highlight. The spice level is authentic, not toned down like in many Americanized Thai restaurants, and the flavors felt true to traditional Thai cooking. Mango sticky rice was the perfect way to end a scrumptious meal. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Thai food that's flavorful and satisfying. The ambience gives you the vibe of a homely Thai place and the service was quick too.

Basil chicken was delicious

I really have mix feelings about this review and I want to be as truthful as I can be, as I liked the food but won't be going back to papaya thai. I been wanting to give this place a try since I Love Thai food, and have ate at almost all Thai spots in city of Fremont/Newark. I went to papaya Thai with my fam of 4 as they opened at 5, we arrived at 5:30pm, mind only us and a couple at the Resturant. We ordered few dishes and liked the food, flavors were there for me and all. We ordered pad thai, chicken basil, chicken wings, pot stickers chicken, white rice, few drinks. Cutting down to chase, I give their service 3 star, and customer service is very important to me as I'm spending my money at the place of business. Me and my fam didn't really get the vibe from this place. Our server and person behind register/table weren't too welcoming)joyful

the worst pad thai i've ever had in my life i am not sure if id try again and only because the tom yum was great. the pad thai was flavorless the tofu was stale and the peanuts were stale too and onions were stringy - it was absolutely terrible! i'm extremely disappointed with my first time trying it. we literally threw it the trash after trying it which is so upsetting because despise eating food.

No on to go food

Horrible experience for to go. They forgot my thai iced tea. I had to come back to retrieve it. It wasn't in the bag. The green curry tasted awful with really dry pork and not much green curry. Super small portions. Rice was super dry and old. Mango was NOT ripe and the sticky rice was super hard. For to go it's a NO. The dine in food looked okay though.

Homestyle eats in a Mom n Pop kind of establishment. Friday night was busy with only one person working the whole front (host/server). Customers were pretty nice about waiting patiently to be seated. I guess returning guests know what to expect. Decorated in authentic Thai fashion with sculptures up front. Each table has a QAR code for the menu but actual menus were brought over too. A friend and I shared a couple dishes: *Roti with curry dip *Crispy Calamari *Shrimp Pad Thai *Crispy Catfish with Garlic sauce *Steamed white rice Roti was flaky with good chew and a mildly spicy-sweet curry dip. Calamari was a bit overcooked, but still enjoyable. Pad Thai seemed heavier to me in terms of flavor and consistency. It wasn't saucy or anything, just different from what I'm used to. Noodles were cooked well. Catfish filets were crisp with a sweet and almost tangy garlic sauce. I'd ask for sauce on the side to maintain crispness as long as possible. Large three piece portion. So cute how the rice was shaped like a star. Little details like that make me smile. Presentation on point. We were in food coma mode by the end of dinner. It made us sleepy! Still had leftovers to take home.

Crab Meat Fried Rice
Rudrasis C.

We ordered pad see ew (with chicken) and crab meat fried rice. Also we asked for mild spicy. Both are very delicious, plenty of crab meat in the fried rice. The pad see ew is full of broccoli, chicken. The flavor is kind of mild, which is expected with the spice level. The crab meat is real, no imitation!! My only minor comment is the rice is mushy and the carrots in the fried rice are kind of undercooked! But overall, this is a nice Thai place, I am not sure who authentic the food is. But having tried several Thai places in Bay Area, I would rank this place in top 10 Thai places I have tried all over the bay.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant and will not be returning…read more I called multiple times around 9:03 PM to place a takeout order. My calls rang repeatedly without being answered, and one call was picked up and immediately disconnected. Since I was already driving there, I went in person and saw an employee standing at the register, which made the lack of response even more frustrating. When I placed my order, I requested Tom Kha soup with mushrooms only, but was told that was not possible and that I had to choose either vegetables or shrimp. I explained that mushrooms were the only vegetable I wanted in the soup, but I was still told no. I then ordered spicy eggplant with ground chicken and two jasmine rice. After I paid for my order, I realized I wanted extra eggplant and went back to the counter to add it. I specifically told the employee that I was happy to pay the additional charge. Despite having just placed and paid for my order moments earlier, I was told they could not add extra eggplant because the kitchen was closing. The biggest issue came when I received my food. I specifically ordered spicy eggplant with ground chicken, but the dish was made with sliced chicken instead. When I brought it back, one employee initially insisted that this was how the dish came. Another employee then acknowledged that I had, in fact, ordered ground chicken. After speaking among themselves, they returned and asked if I would simply keep the incorrect order because they could not remake it. When I declined, they agreed to issue a refund. However, during the refund process, I was shocked when an employee asked for the condiments back because I was no longer taking the food. We are talking about a small container of sauce and a few jalapeño slices. In all my years of dining out, I have never had a restaurant ask for complimentary condiments back after making a mistake on an order. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of customer service. There was no apology for the unanswered phone calls, the incorrect order, or the inconvenience. Instead, I was met with attitude and indifference throughout the interaction. To make matters worse, employees were already mopping the floors while numerous customers were still dining inside. I personally almost slipped on the wet floor. The staff clearly saw customers walking through the area, yet the floors were being mopped before customers had even finished their meals, creating an unnecessary safety hazard. I also witnessed several customers being turned away despite arriving before the posted closing time, while there were still many customers seated and eating inside the restaurant. It appeared that staff were more focused on closing and leaving than serving customers during their posted business hours. Finally, when I asked for a copy of my refund receipt after accidentally handing mine back, I was told they could not print another one. Instead, an employee handed me the restaurant's copy of the refund receipt and instructed me to take a picture of it with my phone. Mistakes happen in every business. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, this experience was marked by poor communication, lack of professionalism, and a complete absence of customer care. I hope the owner sees this review because they deserve to know how customers are being treated. For anyone looking for excellent Thai food and outstanding customer service, I highly recommend New Krungthai Restaurant. They have been consistently wonderful, their food is excellent, and they have always treated me with kindness and respect. They have earned my business for years to come, and I will gladly continue supporting them. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will be taking my business there instead. Good food is important, but customer service and professionalism matter just as much.

Integrated into downtown Hayward just a block from the theater and other eateries and drink spots, Khao Hom has made a strong impression in the local community drawing a good following for weekend brunch as well as weekday lunch. With street parking right in front as well as sharing free public parking in the lot behind the restaurant, once you've slogged through traffic to get to this area, you'll be able to easily park and venture in for your food experience. As you enter, you'll likely need to wait for one of their staff members to seat you in one of their two dining spaces. The rooms are well lit and enhance the ambiance of your meal (and photos) with natural lighting. When seated, you'll get their food and drinks menu in addition to finding their dessert menu at the table. As standard, each table gets a carafe of water for you to serve yourselves. Their menu is quite extensive in representing popular Thai flavors with a bit of flare. You'll find curries, soups, noodles and chef specialties in their own sections of the menu. They also have some alcohol infused drinks for those looking for a full brunch experience. As a novice to some Thai dishes, I did have to ask the staff to explain a bit about certain dishes, but there were a few that caught my eye and never let go. Thai tea - flavorful and bold; rich but not too sweet Matcha latte - rich matcha flavor and creamy; best sipped and can be packed in a to-go cup if you don't finish Tom yum crab omelet - beautifully crafted omurice-esque dish where you'll find white rice encased in an egg omelet topped with succulent pieces of crab meat and smothered in tom yum soup. This dish is not only a pleasure to look at but the taste and textures in each bite will have you salivating for more until the dish completely disappears. This unique take is a must get for first timers! Roti gai tod - crispy fried yet succulent chicken served with a small serving of creamy yellow curry, white rice, and a roti alongside their delicious chili sauce. Fantastic balance of textures and flavors will have your tongue dancing from the spices. Tom kha soup - a bowl of comfort with a whole lot of shredded chicken, red onions, and mushrooms with a few big quarters of fresh tomatoes. It's not as creamy as I would like but the flavor is there with its abundance in lemongrass. The portion is large as one order can easily split into two bowls. Fried ice cream - a meal topper and sweet indulgence for those looking to try something new and rarely found elsewhere. This giant meteorite of a breaded and fried ball of vanilla ice cream is topped with chocolate fudge, powdered sugar, a generous helping of whipped cream and plenty of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, and cantaloupe). Definitely shareable and a surprising star of their dessert menu - they could definitely do more to advertise this! The staff were super friendly and quick to take dirty dishes out of the way. They kept the place clean, served the food promptly and treated all of their customers with respect and smiles. Top notch crew from the front of the house to the back. Furthermore, should you need the restrooms, they do have two gender neutral rooms that were decently maintained. Overall, Khao Hom is not your everyday Thai restaurant nor is it your run of the mill brunch spot - this is a unique experience with food created out of passion to merge these together. The result is an aesthetically pleasing yet hunger extinguishing meal that will have you discovering new flavors and craving for more. With its proximity to the city center, it's a great a spot to plan out a lunch or brunch before a nice stroll around or a movie. Thai food has never looked and tasted so good!

The curry sauce for the roti was incredible, and the breading on the crispy eggplant was really flavorful and tasty, though I was a bit surprised by the ketchup on top. The restaurant is casual but busy during peak times, and the ban chan before the meal is a lovely and diverse selection of delicious Korea appetizers. I'd recommend coming with a big group so you're able to try a lot of things! My order came with bean sprouts, broccoli, fish cakes, potatoes, kimchi, eggplant, and tofu. My favorites were the stir fried fish cakes and the lightly sweetened potatoes. *Kimchi Jjigae: the broth carried a pleasantly fermented kimchi flavor. There was also a generous amount of soft tofu incorporated throughout the stew. This leaned more heavily into deeper, aged kimchi notes. *Mul Naengmyun: the chilled broth had a naturally tangy and slightly sweet profile, so the side of mustard felt necessary to sharpen the flavors further. The buckwheat noodles were pleasantly bouncy, though they had clumped together a bit at the bottom. Unfortunately, the toppings were the weakest part, as both the meat and egg were noticeably overcooked. *Corn Cheese: surprisingly mozzarella forward. The cheese was melted well and paired nicely with the bursts of sweetness from the corn. This complemented the hotter savory dishes especially well. Overall, this is a solid takeout option with efficient service and dependable packaging. I would still like to see more depth and refinement in some of the broths, but the foundation is definitely there.
