The food is okay, with a lot of more potential! The place is looks like is dying..... Nothing had been renovated in years, the chairs are peeling off and the chairs and tables look old. Dark theme inside the restaurant, AC many times had been off during summer time. Not alcohol is another down side of this place. Service wise, since Dangelo left this place services hasn't been the same. Definitely needs to step up and not let people like Dangelo go. We ordered take out from here and it was pretty decent, it was a little more pricey than I would like, but the portions were good. I was disappointed that the green curry didn't have much of any spice but the flavor was good, regardless. Next time I'll ask for more spice to see if I can't get the normal green curry kick I am used to. We also ordered seaweed salad which was tasty. Overall we were pleased but not overwhelmed. This is a great little place in Spring Branch with good service and good food. I consistently have had a great meal at Thai Jin. I really like the Pineapple Fried Rice. Be careful when adding spice- they are serious about spicy! The bento meals are a great combo of items and my husband really likes that for lunch. The cashew chicken was also a winner for me. For an appetizer I am a huge fan of the cheese roll - like an egg roll with cream cheese inside. I have come just because I'm hungry for those! The curry soup is also so delicious. We always come here for lunch. Tasty and affordable. Large menu full of sushi options, Thai, and Chinese. I love that they have BYOB. My only complaint is their odd hours- they close at 8 pm so if you want to eat dinner there they make you arrive by 7pm which is annoying. Once we got there at 7:02pm and they wouldn't seat us! It was okay not the best Thai food I've had. Parking was easy because it is in a shopping strip no issues with parking. I visited for dinner about 6 pm and just have a few people so seating was not an issue. Service was not bad. I had General Tahos chicken, hot and it was very tasty but not hot. I would say more mild with a small kick. We did have the calamari for an appetizer and it was not bad either. Again food was not bad, but was not off the charts. Pricing was good. The restaurant is in a strip center. Inside it's low lit with dark colored furnishings, Asian statement pieces and Asian inspired finishes. Nice comfortable soothing decor. It's pretty busy at lunch time but we only had a 10 minute wait. Wait staff were very attentive. Cheese rolls: Meh...I've had better but my lunch-mate REALLY enjoyed them. Tempura Veggies: Nicely presented with a bowl of soy sauce. Very tasty. Mardi Gras Roll: DELICIOUS! I couldn't get enough! Pad Thai: The first time I had this, it was take out at a Chinese restaurant. It looked like a bowl of slippery slimy earthworms...totally disgusting and I couldn't eat it. I was skeptical of a place that has Chinese, sushi and Thai food, but my fears were assuaged. Now I can bring my sushi and Thai food-hating friends here for Chinese while I get my curry fix. My friend and I came here for lunch--it's not too busy at prime time, so you can grab a table easily. The menu is somewhat extensive since they're covering a few cuisines. I had the pad thai and a bowl of tom kha gai, while he had the green curry. The pad thai was pretty good...it's never really a mind-blowing dish, it's just plain tasty Thai comfort food. It was served with a salad and a dinky little eggroll, as well as their soup of the day, which was some watered down yellow curry. As you can tell, I wasn't impressed by the "special" part that came with the lunch special. It was just filler. The tom kha gai was pretty good, but I have definitely had better. I prefer a spicier broth. My friend's curry was very good, and I'd say better than my meal. The green curry has thick chunks of eggplant, which I loved. The food wasn't really spicy, even though they said that medium spicy was REALLY hot. Service was pleasant, prices are in the $10 range, and fortunately this place is near my office, so yeah this is definitely going on my regular rotation. :) read more

My last day in Houston and I wanted sushi. This was the closest place to my hotel and the reviews looked great. At 630 on a Wednesday, there was no wait. Service was great. The Asian server didn't speak great English, but he was able to answer some questions about the menu. The menu had American, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai items. Each type of item is indicated on the menu with a special symbol (see the photos) Between my colleague and I, we shared a rainbow roll, Sawarashi combo, and a sashimi combo. Both combos came with a salad and miso soup. Salad, 1/5: typical Japanese salad with iceberg lettuce Soup, 4/5: great flavor, but could use more tofu Sushi, 3.5/5: there was a bit too much rice in all of the sushi. The fish was good, but not amazingly fresh. The place had a steady stream of customers and even more people coming in for takeout. It's a good place for an eclectic meal, and the sushi is good enough to bring me back on my next trip. Bonus: you get a fortune cookie at the end of the meal. Not a usual treat with sushi. read more

I'm ecstatic that we now have good Thai food in Spring Branch! I don't review frequently on Yelp, but I want this place to do well, so I hope it attracts all the attention it deserves. I remember scoffing at a place that would have both Thai and sushi, but after reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is decorated so well, and it's really clean - definitely deceiving considering the strip center it's in. They have great service. The tom kha soup was really great - hit the spot! And their curry was great, too. I could only finish a little bit, and they gave me useful to-go containers that ended up being 2 more meals for me. A great price for what ended up being 3 meals! This place is incredible! The menu has a great variety, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and sushi. Everything is, including the soy sauce, made in house.(their sweet soy dumpling sauce is amazing! I put it on everything!) Have a favorite kind a sushi you don't see on the menu? Let the sushi chef know, and he will gladly make it! I have yet to try something i didn't love! Thai restaurants are limited where I work so I was happy to come across this one. They serve Thai, Japanese, American and Chinese food and they have a variety of dishes ranging from curry to sushi. I've been here twice and both times the food was delicious. I had the Chicken pad thai and Sichuan Cashew Chicken so out of those two the Sichuan chicken is my favorite. I will be coming back to try out the other dishes though! Lunch comes with your entree, salad, soup and a tiny egg roll. Has a great flavor and could use a little more meat. Drunken noodles: 4/5. It has fresh broad noodles and plenty of spices to zest up your meal. Thai Jin fried rice: 3/5. Missing on flavor I'd say. Garlic on fire (with beef): 4/5. Beef could be tenderer. Tempura ice cream: 4/5. Sushi rolls: I have tried a few times and sushi rolls here always have more rice than needed and fish is not really fresh. The price/quantity ratio is good and service is okay. Don't expect Thai gourmet or Nidda Thai - level of Thai food here. It's a little difficult to find this place in the strip mall. It's in the same building as HEB, Radio shack and Starbucks. Verdict: If you are looking for sushi, this isn't the place. For Thai, you should definitely try drunken noodles and tom yum soup. read more
