This is a neighborhood place that we frequent. Hard to pass up a spot with sushi and Thai food all in one. The menu is large and has options that will peak your interest. Servers are few and far between and most of the time the owner will wait on you among the other 1-2 seated tables as the only server. The booth seats have not been recovered in years and kids end up complaining that their legs are getting scratched up by the broken/cracked fleather. The quality of the food has diminished drastically and continues to do so as time progresses. Sad to see a place with such potential and great location slowly dissolve. We ordered take out from here and it was pretty decent, it was a little more pricey than I would like, but the portions were good. I was disappointed that the green curry didn't have much of any spice but the flavor was good, regardless. Next time I'll ask for more spice to see if I can't get the normal green curry kick I am used to. We also ordered seaweed salad which was tasty. Overall we were pleased but not overwhelmed. This is a great little place in Spring Branch with good service and good food. I consistently have had a great meal at Thai Jin. I really like the Pineapple Fried Rice. Be careful when adding spice- they are serious about spicy! The bento meals are a great combo of items and my husband really likes that for lunch. The cashew chicken was also a winner for me. For an appetizer I am a huge fan of the cheese roll - like an egg roll with cream cheese inside. I have come just because I'm hungry for those! The curry soup is also so delicious. The food is okay, with a lot of more potential! The place is looks like is dying..... Nothing had been renovated in years, the chairs are peeling off and the chairs and tables look old. Dark theme inside the restaurant, AC many times had been off during summer time. Not alcohol is another down side of this place. Service wise, since Dangelo left this place services hasn't been the same. Definitely needs to step up and not let people like Dangelo go. It's pretty busy at lunch time but we only had a 10 minute wait. Wait staff were very attentive. Cheese rolls: Meh...I've had better but my lunch-mate REALLY enjoyed them. Tempura Veggies: Nicely presented with a bowl of soy sauce. Very tasty. Mardi Gras Roll: DELICIOUS! I couldn't get enough! Pad Thai: The first time I had this, it was take out at a Chinese restaurant. It looked like a bowl of slippery slimy earthworms...totally disgusting and I couldn't eat it. Today I went to this place for the second time and ordered hot tea. To my surprise, I felt like I was going to use an employees coffee mug. I was skeptical of a place that has Chinese, sushi and Thai food, but my fears were assuaged. Now I can bring my sushi and Thai food-hating friends here for Chinese while I get my curry fix. My friend and I came here for lunch--it's not too busy at prime time, so you can grab a table easily. The menu is somewhat extensive since they're covering a few cuisines. I had the pad thai and a bowl of tom kha gai, while he had the green curry. The pad thai was pretty good...it's never really a mind-blowing dish, it's just plain tasty Thai comfort food. It was served with a salad and a dinky little eggroll, as well as their soup of the day, which was some watered down yellow curry. As you can tell, I wasn't impressed by the "special" part that came with the lunch special. It was just filler. The tom kha gai was pretty good, but I have definitely had better. I prefer a spicier broth. My friend's curry was very good, and I'd say better than my meal. The green curry has thick chunks of eggplant, which I loved. The food wasn't really spicy, even though they said that medium spicy was REALLY hot. Service was pleasant, prices are in the $10 range, and fortunately this place is near my office, so yeah this is definitely going on my regular rotation. :) read more

I visited for dinner about 6 pm and just have a few people so seating was not an issue. Service was not bad. I had General Tahos chicken, hot and it was very tasty but not hot. I would say more mild with a small kick. We did have the calamari for an appetizer and it was not bad either. Again food was not bad, but was not off the charts. Pricing was good. My last day in Houston and I wanted sushi. This was the closest place to my hotel and the reviews looked great. At 630 on a Wednesday, there was no wait. Service was great. The Asian server didn't speak great English, but he was able to answer some questions about the menu. The menu had American, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai items. Each type of item is indicated on the menu with a special symbol (see the photos) Between my colleague and I, we shared a rainbow roll, Sawarashi combo, and a sashimi combo. Both combos came with a salad and miso soup. Salad, 1/5: typical Japanese salad with iceberg lettuce Soup, 4/5: great flavor, but could use more tofu Sushi, 3.5/5: there was a bit too much rice in all of the sushi. The fish was good, but not amazingly fresh. The place had a steady stream of customers and even more people coming in for takeout. It's a good place for an eclectic meal, and the sushi is good enough to bring me back on my next trip. Bonus: you get a fortune cookie at the end of the meal. Not a usual treat with sushi. read more

I'm ecstatic that we now have good Thai food in Spring Branch! I don't review frequently on Yelp, but I want this place to do well, so I hope it attracts all the attention it deserves. I remember scoffing at a place that would have both Thai and sushi, but after reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is decorated so well, and it's really clean - definitely deceiving considering the strip center it's in. They have great service. The tom kha soup was really great - hit the spot! And their curry was great, too. I could only finish a little bit, and they gave me useful to-go containers that ended up being 2 more meals for me. A great price for what ended up being 3 meals! Thai restaurants are limited where I work so I was happy to come across this one. They serve Thai, Japanese, American and Chinese food and they have a variety of dishes ranging from curry to sushi. I've been here twice and both times the food was delicious. I had the Chicken pad thai and Sichuan Cashew Chicken so out of those two the Sichuan chicken is my favorite. I will be coming back to try out the other dishes though! Lunch comes with your entree, salad, soup and a tiny egg roll. This is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in that area(not that there are a lot of options) Below are some of the dishes that I had a chance to try. Tom yum soup: 4/5. Has a great flavor and could use a little more meat. Drunken noodles: 4/5. It has fresh broad noodles and plenty of spices to zest up your meal. Thai Jin fried rice: 3/5. Missing on flavor I'd say. Garlic on fire (with beef): 4/5. Beef could be tenderer. Tempura ice cream: 4/5. Sushi rolls: I have tried a few times and sushi rolls here always have more rice than needed and fish is not really fresh. The price/quantity ratio is good and service is okay. Don't expect Thai gourmet or Nidda Thai - level of Thai food here. It's a little difficult to find this place in the strip mall. It's in the same building as HEB, Radio shack and Starbucks. Verdict: If you are looking for sushi, this isn't the place. For Thai, you should definitely try drunken noodles and tom yum soup. read more

I came here because my first choice was closed...don't you hate it when that happens. I heard good things about Thai Jin so I had to try it out for myself to believe it. The interior was pretty nice and almost seems like its the interior of a larger Americanized sushi restaurant. They do serve Chinese, sushi and Thai, but I came here solely for the Thai. I ordered the spicy basil beef, my main and favorite dish I like to judge all Thai restaurants by. The beef was tender, flavorful, a little spicy and chocked full of veggies. I ordered Thai hot and did not think it was nearly hot enough. Will need to order the superman hot next time apparently. Also ordered the red curry with shrimp. I didn't think this dish was anything special. Two thumbs down for the Thai tea. At 2.75, it was a little disappointing and not sweet at all. Good for lunch as long as you are not in a rush. There is SO much on the menu for me it was hard to choose. I was hoping to get in and out quickly since I had a meeting in 30 minutes. Based on the reviews i thought I would have no problem. Well after five minutes on trying to figure out what to choose the waiter had just brought our waters and left. When he returned five minutes later I informed him that I was in a rush, this only seemed to make him move slower. I ordered food and twenty minutes later the food arrived so i asked for a to-go box since I had time to take three bites but had to leave. Good thing was the food was pretty good the next day after I had to reheat it in a microwave. The decor was nice in the restaurant and our waiter was friendly, just SUPER SLOW even though there wasn't many people in the restaurant. I'm not big on places that have that many items on the menu. It was literally like a book and since they don't have a menu online unless you've been there I don't see a way to order something to-go. If I am in the area and get the urge for some Asian cuisine I would consider going back here, but only for take-out. read more

Came in for a work meeting with my boss & coworkers for lunch. Setting: It was kinda dark & dim. They have tables in the middle & booths on the side of restaurant. They have 2 TVs & a checkout bar. Food: I got their lunch special beef pad thai with a small soup, salad, & 1 eggroll. Their soup was alright sea weed soup. Their salad was an after thought & the eggroll wasn't that great. I think those are just there to compliment the pad thai special. The beef pad thai was great! It had the basics, beansprouts, crushed peanuts, noodle & beef in sauce. The noodles had good texture, the beef was tender, and the flavors good! It reminded me of pad thai I had at ThaiChefs (Another good thai place in Cypress!)
