I was so blessed to find this gem in this beautiful Valley during what should have been a sad time (fires/smoke) during my visit last month (we're from Maine). They did not let us down. I am vegan, and my friend has soy allergies, so between the two of us, I was concerned about the possible outcome. But the food was amazing. The fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce rocked my world. Hey, your in Gardnerville, Nevada, and this is a nice surprise. I was in for dinner a few minutes ago, and I was alone. I was greeted, seated, and served within a very short period of time, and the waiter took the time to show me the best option on the dinner menu. The very last dinner is a combo plate that provides a salad, a soup, and any one of the previous twenty entrees for $15.95. The salad was on the small side, but it was served with a very nice peanut sauce and I enjoyed every part of it. The soup, a coconut milk chicken soup with some other herbs, was very tasty. I may have looked a bit silly, but I did eat as much as I could without creating a scene. I ordered a house special, which was stir fired vegetables served with steamed rice. They would have added meat, shrimp, or fish, and I'm sure they would have been great as well. This was not my first visit to the place. The first time I came here I was the guest of some friends, and I let them order. They ordered a variety of items, and we shared. It was a great plan, and we enjoyed a variety of great flavors. He doesn't know me but can tell when I've been having a rough day and will usually comp a beer or something else for no reason. A Gardnerville gem. The interior is clean and welcoming. The service is prompt and friendly. Most importantly the dishes are authentic, generous in portion and priced correctly. I was able to take advantage of one of their seasonal specials, the avocado green curry. What a flavorful and healthy dish with lots of summery vegetables and bright green avocado chunks. My only critique, the bland tofu, although there was plenty of it the tofu should be browned or fried as it didn't absorb the curry flavor at all and had a boring texture. First time here. Had the pumpkin curry with shrimp. I asked for it to be quite spicy on the Thai scale, not the American scale. It came out perfectly spiced and flavorful. If you've ever eaten spicy food in Thailand then you know the maximum on the American scale is barely a blip on the Thai scale. The curry was very flavorful and had an adequate number of medium sized shrimp. More shrimp would have been nice but that's okay. I thought the veggies in the curry were perfectly done, fork-tender. There was plenty of cubed pumpkin. The brown rice mixture was good, although a bit more would have been nice. Service was prompt and courteous. The place had just opened so I don't know how it is when busy. All-in-all a great experience, especially considering where this restaurant is. I'll be coming back. read more

Disappointed. My fiancé and I get Thai quite often and this is the first time that we were this disappointed. Got into town hungry after a 7 hour drive and ordered Thai fried rice, yellow curry, beef larb and honey duck. Thai fried rice wasn't actually Thai fried rice but Chinese fried rice. Yellow curry had the consistency of water and not much of a yellow curry taste. Lots of chicken tho. Beef larb as decent and the duck skin could've been crispy and been a hit. We were in Gardnerville NV on vacation staying in Lake Tahoe. We stopped in after my wife was in the Quilt House Inc. a few doors down. I checked out their online menu and we decided to hang out until they opened at 4:30 for dinner. It turned out to be a great decision. The service was amazing. The young man that was our waiter was attentive and polite and helpful. Their fresh spring rolls are among the best we have ever had. The peanut sauce they served with the SIX spring rolls was perfect. Being a bit adventurous, I had the Lamb Pumpkin Stir Fry which I really enjoyed. It had a unique blend of flavors and textures. The lamb chunks were tender and mild. My wife had Evil Jungle with Shrimp Stir Fry. Again a home run. She ordered the heat at 3 which was ok but a 2 would have been better. Way too much food for her to eat. She is having the left over spring rolls for lunch and she will have her left over stir fry for dinner tonight. If you like Thai, this is the place to go. read more

Rudest owner we have EVER witnessed in our lives. Ever. I just had surgery Friday and My hubby has had three MASSIVE heart attacks so we were looking for something very healthy. This owner was being SO rude to us when we asked if they could make a special order for us with glass noodles. We wanted less oil and more vegetables. He was truly the biggest smart ass ever. Most Thai restaurants have Gai Lan or "Chinese" broccoli and when I asked him if he had it he bit off my head and said this is "not a Chinese restaurant" then I said "a lot of Thai places offer it he said "not in Nevada they don't" in the loudest tone ever. I told my hubby let's go he's being rude to us. The topper was he shouted back at us "you are being rude" Good thing I did not pop my incision. Don't expect a kindness here. Great local restaurant. Consistently good Thai food. Been going for about 4 years and every time it has been great. Owner is a very nice and friendly guy. Loves to talk about his dog. Service is always fast and courteous. I believe his wife does a lot of the cooking. It is obvious they take great pride in their business. I am writing this review because I just read a review which bashed the place, its service, and attitude. In 4 years I have NEVER experienced anything like that. The Evil Jungle wasn't as scary as I thought, lol. For a hungry carnivore I would recommend the beef over the chicken. However for herbivores, the dish would be palatable without any meat. We just moved to Gardnerville and were disappointed at the lack of good restaurants in this area. Thai Jasmine is a great find! Very good food, very good prices, very friendly owner! I highly recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors alike. They classify the hotness of their food on a 1-5 scale. I chose 3, and could probably bump it to a 4. We started with tempura pumpkin which came with two sauces which were both very tasty. My main dish was a seafood dish with veggies and glass noodles with a side of white rice. The dish was nicely seasoned and was in a broth similar in taste to a sukiyaki dish. It was slightly sweet with lots of shrimp, fake crab (which I confess to liking), scallops, and mushrooms. As I said, I probably could have eaten it a little hotter, which I will try next time. My husband had a dish called Three Kings, and he ate it so fast I am not sure I know what was in it! He also had the spice at "3", and felt he could go one notch spicier. There was so much food that I brought home a large portion of my lunch to eat later! What can one say about a place where you are treated like a moron when you walk in the door? We were really looking forward to exploring the Thai cuisine in our area. As we entered for an early dinner I told the man we needed a table for two. He said "we only do take out at dinner, did you not see the BIG sign outside?". Of course the outside is plastered with numerous handwritten signs that look like you have to read a book before entering. This undoubtedly not be a place where we will be spending our money. I told the man, we will not be returning and he yelled "have a nice day". Looks like this individual needs hospitality/guest service training or even just a simple good manner lesson. Very impressed! My husband and I came in for lunch today just before they closed for lunch. He was very nice and friendly and even though we came in before they closed for lunch didn't turn us away and was super nice about it. I had the pumpkin curry special (Super good!!), and my husband had the Pad Se-Iew. Both of our dishes were spectacular and will defiantly be getting again! Yum yum yum. Everything was really good and affordable. We got the pad Thai and added shrimp, and also the yellow curry with chicken. Pad Thai was great with authentic flavors. Wish they had some limes on the plate though. Curry had a ton of chicken in it. We got the medium, but definitely think we could've gone a little spicier. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Server checked up on us regularly and made sure we had enough rice for our curry.
