I was skeptical because of the mixed reviews and the authenticity, but there wasn't a lot of choices in Red Bluff so we were like, why not supporting a local business. I'm glad we chose it! We got the Pad Thai and the Spicy Basil with pork, both were incredible. Pad Thai was full of flavors, sweet and salty, and piping hot. The spicy Basil had lots of veggies (which I appreciate!) and very flavorful. Good, simple and affordable meal. OMG. The best Thai food I have ever eaten. In a tiny little town of 13,000 in North Central California, no less. The food here was so delicious I literally had to have someone restrain me to keep from overeating. Think Monty Python..."it's wafer thin!" I literally felt like that man. Anyway. The food here was rich, delicious, perfectly seasoned, and CHEAP! I think we all got out of there for about 12 bucks or so, including our beers. I had the pad Thai, one of my least favorite thai dishes, and found it very good and and well sauced The rice wrapper fresh rolls are chock full of veggies with a hint of cilantro and served with peanut and sweet and sour sauces, both delicious The green papaya salad was delicious and much less salty than most . Pik King and red curry Thai spicy were both quite bland. A lot of red chili flakes which is not authentic at all. That's something my white ass would cheat with trying to achieve spice. Place had a weird odor too. Waitress was lovely though and offered good customer service. I tried to do a bunch of disgusting stuff to make her turn her head but she wouldn't budge. Thai House is a very clean restaurant with lots of tables. We got seated immediately when we walked in. Looking at the menu, there are appetizers, salads, noodles, rice dishes, and meat dishes to order. We decided to share the following dishes. Pork Fried Rice - This reminded me of the typical Chinese fried rice. It was very good. Pineapple Fried Rice - This tasted different than normal. There was more of a curry flavor. Orange Chicken - The outside of the chicken was very crispy. The texture and flavor of the skin reminded me of the 'fried bananas' dessert. This dish was a bit too sweet. Cashew Nut Chicken - This dish was very good. There was lots of veggies mixed with the huge slices of chicken like water chestnuts, corn, etc. Overall, Thai House is a decent place. Tried two new-to-me dishes tonight. Glad I did. Had their noodle soup(beef) and Thai chow mien (pork). Their noodle soup was very Pho-ish and VERY good - better than any Pho I've had a long time. I'll come here when I'm craving Pho. The Thai chow mien was (and this may sound like an exaggerating but it's not) the BEST Asian noodle dish I've ever had. Ever. I gotta say, when we first drove up at 2 pm on a Saturday we were hesitant. The parking lot had one car in front which we assumed was the workers. But we proceeded because the Yelp reviews were great! Well, Yelp did not fail us! This small place is definitely a mom and pop restaurant. The service lacked a little Especially since we were one of the only other parties there, but the food definitely made up for it. The food was so amazing and inexpensive! I wish I could pick up this place and bring it home with me. Thy even do lunch combos! I have Been to a few other Thai places and they always do only a la carte which makes the food very pricey. Me and my guy ordered 2 lunch combos: yellow curry shrimp and chicken chow mein. These came with a spicy soup and salad and side of white rice. The soup was amazing! The yellow curry shrimp I was licking the bowl and the chow mein out of this world! Even the sides did not fail to impress! I am so glad we found this place ! It's been years since I've eaten here, with many fond memories. It's barely a shadow of its former self now. I ordered the chicken pad thai. I was really looking forward to those beautiful noodles, and if I had thought about it, I would have taken a picture of the vomit that was served on my plate (which was heavily chipped all around the rim, making it look like I'm eating at a homeless encampment). Noodles were all broken so short very few were more than an inch long. Carrots so tough they couldn't be chewed. Bean sprouts were like hair and thank god there weren't more than a few in there. And the chicken? There was maybe, I mean MAYBE a level tablespoon of meat. $19 for this and a thai tea....save your money. Go somewhere else. There was maybe $1 worth of noodles, veges, and meat in this dish and it presented horribly...like I said, looked like vomit on the plate. To not make this a total loss, I filled a to-go box with this stuff and fed it to my chickens when I got home. My wife and I often use Yelp to help us decide where to eat in new towns while traveling. With that in mind I hope this helps. The building is small seating maybe 40-50. The waitress we had was very polite and friendly. She was a bit overwhelmed when we were there as she was alone in the dining room with 4 other tables and lots of to go orders. She did her best to keep up and we appreciated it. The service was a bit slow, but we at least knew why and it wasn't from a lack of effort. The food variety was good. I would even say great based on the size of the town. The taste and quality was also very good. There was one dish we ordered that we didn't care for but it was also something that we have never tried before and had nothing to compare it against. I would most definitely return again. Not the best Thai restaurant on the West Coast of These United States of America, but a very nice dining establishment by Dread Bluff standards. The spicy basil duck was delicious, as was the shrimp salad with a chili lime dressing. The curry was better than average, in my unrefined opinion. There was an order of ginger beef something-or-other on our table that TL and Katie T said was pretty much inedible. TL narrowed it down to the ginger, which apparently tasted like it had been "kimcheed" in a solution of lye and Palmolive. I took a pass, so even though I trust TL's and KT's palates implicitly, in fairness to Thai House, I can't allow the definitely PMS-influenced and likely stress-influenced hearsay about that one dish to affect my review. Nice ambiance -- complete with amusing Thai music videos on the flat screen TV and the portrait of King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the wall -- once you get inside.
