Pad Thai. A tad too sweet but still delicious
    Lex C.

What a gem. This is a low key place that delivers a lot of flavor. The ambiance was a good combination of traditional and modern. Service friendly and attentive. We ordered the roti, mango salad, mango curry and pad Thai. Everything was tasty but the roti and mango salad stood out. We also got bubble teas. We loved the matcha bubble tea.

I was in Carmel a few times for work and Thai Golden was hands down the best restaurant that I tried there, and perhaps maybe even had some of the best Thai food I've had EVER! The beef noodle soup is truly so amazing, that I'm sad I'll no longer be working there because now this dish is a 50+ mile drive from me lol. The soup is so sweet and flavorful and the BEEF, SOOO tender and perfect taste AND they give so much of it! I would order this dish again and again. I've also tried their shrimp Shumai dumpling appetizer which was good, and the green curry lunch entree that was also amazing. The restaurant itself is cute, the left half is a mini gift shop that I unfortunately didn't get to check out, and the right side is filled with tables for dining in. Service was also always friendly. Can't wait for the day that I get to come back!

Summer roll - a bit weird to see iceberg lettuce, was ok (but large portions)

Food is ok overall but place is really cute, service is good, and it's got a large vegetarian friendly menu. Portions are huge I mean really massive as in leftovers continued to feed us for days. The decor is super cute and has a fun bohemian eclectic vibe that to me feels like an international hostel somewhere... like in Stockholm or something. Don't ask me why. All the details are cute and welcoming. The place is spotlessly clean. It's attached to a bar area and also has the most amazing lounge-y music. (My biggest regret is not shamelessly asking to steal their Spotify list.). Also felt like a cute date spot. The food was ok, a bit less flavorful than I typically like, and a couple of ingredients that I feel like hint at a more fusion type palate (straw mushroom in drunken noodles, iceberg lettuce in summer roll, etc). But a plus is they do have the quartet of Thai sauces you can add yourself upon request. The papaya salad in particular was massive and still meets expectations in taste. One minor point was their entree selection was a little less seafood than the average Thai place. Do skip the hot Thai milk tea (made from powder). We had wanted a warm drink and it tasted a bit funky like Thai Ovaltine. They seem to have interesting cocktails.

Mediocre Thai food. I would love to do a 3.5 instead of a 3 though. Here's why: Outside views have the best views in the house: Lake Carmel. Gorgeous, gorgeous views! Fun colored chairs and a random little garden. I'll take it! Walking in was a quick sit down. They were so kind and attentive and quickly greeted us. There's a take out section and you can walk up directly to the counter. They have a wide variety of things on the menu, almost too much. Upon arriving, I ordered a large Thai tea. It was just $3 for a small and $4 for a large so it was definitely a no brainer to get the large one. My disappointment is that it was very very watery and just not quite the punch. I'm a Thai tea lover so just a bit disappointed. Food was a whole different story, my vegetarian Mussaman Curry was delicious. I added a bit more of extra spice to it and it sure had the kick. Portions are decent, good enough for one person. I def don't recommend sharing, especially with a nice appetite. Hubby ordered the Pad Thai with Tofu. It was definitely just alright. I'm thinking this place is more about curries than anything else. I want to seriously give them 4 stars for their service. Unfortunately my overall experience didn't excel. I just wish they can improve on the location, less is more. Food quality would be nice. More flavor explosions would be awesome. Lastly, be consistent with menu items. Everything would be nice if it had a flavor punch. Prices are good, everything's clean. This just reminded me of a little Mexican restaurant with lots going on. I would like to come back for sure and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. Also, if you have any shellfish allergies or anything else they are very accommodating. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available so that's a plus!

Thai Golden is the worst in the business!

By far the worst restaurant in the business, Do not eat here ! The water had a fly in it the last time we ate here and the way the server treats their customers, demanding a tip, very unprofessional ! it's a shame cause their food was good. I gave it 1 star cause I cannot leave 0 !

    Drunken noodles
    Kyle S.

A very cute place with vibrant colors, they have a little Thai store there too which is cool. It's mostly street parking so plan accordingly, no meters involved. The staff was super nice and attentive. The appetizers thoroughly impressed us. The calamari and fried taro root were excellent. They had khao soy, Northern Thai sausage, which is hard to find. The drinks were very creative and I enjoyed them. When the entrées came out is when the disappointment began. The tom yum was not balanced and had too much fish sauce. I had the drunken noodles and they were bland, all I got was the spice I asked to be put in. There was hardly and sauce coating the noodles. My company wasn't impressed with their entrées either. A redeeming factor is the prices are reasonable and the portions are rather large. Had we just had appetizers and drinks this would be a 5 star review. The staff are great and deserve praise. The entrées we had were subpar, and I definitely don't recommend you ordering the drunken noodles. Stick to the appetizers and the drinks and you will leave satisfied.

    Pad Thai and panang curry

Had the summer rolls, sriracha wings, pad thai, and parang curry - each dish was delicious and full of satisfying umami flavor. The service was excellent, as they were friendly and attentive.

All I needed was a warm and cozy meal to take out. Despite it already being almost kitchen closing time, they were so kind and accommodating and reassured me it would be no problem to do a takeout. THIS MADE MY NIGHT! I ordered the green curry with tofu which was so yummy, flavorful and comforting as well as the spring rolls. Loved the sauce! For dessert I got the mango with sweet coconut sticky rice which was INCREDIBLE. This is absolutely worth it. It's so light, sweet and delicious. Can't wait to come here again for a dine in experience. Takeout was pretty bomb!

As we sat down to our reserved table our server wanted to know if we were going to a show... now that's very thoughtful. They would pace our meal accordingly. BUT we had three hours. We ordered wine and beer to start- on Happy Hour prices. We were informed of new items on the menu... I changed my mind 3 times; everything looked great. We decided to share the Jeep Koong as an appetizer. Edna is very particular about what she eats and b/c of her Latin heritage, fried fish was not out of the question. Out came a very large portion of fried red snapper in a Tamarind sauce and Brussels sprouts. She opted to omit the sliced jalepeno. I like Massaman Curry; their new offering had it made with lamb and Brussels sprouts, potatoes and sliced cashews. Oh boy. My recent bout with bleeding ulcers had me forego having it Thai spicy. Still plenty of time before the show but the restaurant was filling up fast. Dessert yes we chose to share puff pastry topped with coconut ice cream and coconut flakes. I was surprised to see Durian on the dessert menu or at least I didn't remember from the other time we visited the restaurant. I do remember the Durian we experienced during our last trip to Bangkok- a real smelly fruit which I opted to taste (sure). All in all our meal, service and the simple but tasteful decorations, were all outstanding. Of course we'll be back but might return to their lunchtime offerings. Unless we pre-theatre it again.

First off, the place is very cute looking, great little painted mural of an adorable scenery and hanging from the ceiling. There are booths and tables and plenty of elbow room. The menu is your typical time menu. We ordered the Giza and my husband ordered the pineapple rice and I ordered the green curry. Pineapple chicken were not bad, had some good seasoning to it and good flavor. My husband's rice dish, which is pork fried rice was rather dry and pretty bland in terms of Thai food. He had to ask for sauce to give it a little more zip, so the waiter brought him sweet-and-sour sauce. It didn't do the trick, but it was better than what it was before. My dish was good, I got it with sticky rice, but it wasn't great like typical Thai food is. I got the itch to come here, and I got it out of me now and I'm all good... I'll stick to what I know, and I do know better Thai food in this place. I really do miss the old burgers and bites!

Showcasing a thoughtfully executed appetizer menu that highlights both texture and flavor. I ordered the Curry Puff, Steamed/Fried Pork Dumplings, Duck Roti, and Shrimp Mermaid. The Curry Puff was flavorful, but was the least complelling of the appetizers I had. Its filling delivered a pleasant blend of spices, but seamed a bit too dry for my liking. The pastry had a buttery and flaky exterior that added a satisfying contrast. The Duck Roti was my favorite by far.. It was rich savory, and layered with flavor. The roti that was used was buttery flaky and tasty. I highly recommend this appetizer. Both the Fried and Steamed Pork Dumplings were equally impressive. The steamed version met expectations. While the Fried Dumplings offered a crisp exterior that added a welcome textural dimension. I highly recommend the Fried version. The Shrimp Mermaid rounded out the experience with a crunchy bite and a generous shrimp filling, delivering both substance and satisfaction. Overall, Khing Thai Eatery is a pretty solid place to get some Thai food. Although I only had appetizers. But from my experience so far, I can safely say that this is a spot worth trying. I highly recommend.
