I love That food and I always compare every Thai restaurant to the Thai food I've had in Thailand. A lot miss the mark but I will say Thai Chef is a must try. The service was A1 the waitress was very attractive and made a recommendation when I was torn between options. The restaurant is a nice size considering it is in a plaza. I ordered the seafood combination curry (Thai spicy) it was flavorful. The seafood was cooked perfectly. It was so good that I didn't even take a picture . When it came to dessert I couldn't pick so I had two: mango sticky rice and flan. Definitely suggest giving them a try.

It was busy, there was a lot of people. We had to wait a bit until being seated, but not too long. The food was fresh and everything was decent. I wasn't a fan of the Austin deep fried sushi rolls, BUT their regular sushi rolls (which came with the bento box were delicious). I had miso soup, but forgot to take a photo because I devoured it.. it tasted perfect! In terms of ambiance, the restaurant is a bit small, and maybe a bit crowded. Their high chairs are not typical sturdy wooden restaurant ones, and I felt a bit paranoid with my baby in it (because it has 4 individual legs, and if someone trips on the high chair they might take your baby down with them). Overall, a decent place to go, closer and more convenient than my favorite Japanese place in San Antonio. I think I'd prefer to take it out rather than dine in, but I would recommend it.

Pretty standard Thai strip center restaurant in Texas. Nice decor, friendly and very attentive service. Music on was fantastic. Pad Thai was ok. Skimpy on protein (chicken). Beer was cold

A very small restaurant off FM78 between Schertz and Cibolo. The service was very nice and quite helpful. We started with the papaya salad. The fish sauce was a little heavy. The fruit with veggies came in rather large chunks with a side of romaine lettuce leaves. Might have been meant to be a lettuce wrap but it did not work well. Now ... the Pho and massaman were AMAZING. The veggie pho was full of lots of veggies ... amount and variety. The broth was savory. The massaman had a deep curry sauce ... a little heat that slowly built. Packed with chicken, potatoes and cashews ... rice on the side. The sauce was creamy and the dish was aromatic ... curry, cardamom, and cinnamon.

By mistake I ended up at this restaurant. Never heard of it before. I had to follow my friend with a damaged tire to this side of town and stumbled upon it. We were starving! The place is packed! It is a smaller restaurant and every single table is occupied which made me even more curious to try it out. The waitresses are super friendly and the tables are so close to each other we started chatting with our neighbors. Everyone is praising the food. We get a curry, pad Thai, spring rolls and a couple other appetizers. To my surprise the food was delicious! I will definitely be back when I am on this side of town

Thanks Rose for your great customer service and kindness.

Great food and service with a smile Rose and Brandon were outstanding. I plan to return.

Thai Chef is cooking some of the most delicious Thai food I've had. The classic Drunken Noodle is spiced just enough that you know you've accomplished something, and the noodles are spot on al dente (chef's kiss). The chicken satay appetizer is tender, lightly seasoned, and accompanied by a phenomenal spicy peanut sauce. The space is intimate and warm, and managed by kind and engaged staff. This is most evident as the staff greets regulars by their first name... I love this! I highly recommend you try Thai Chef, and I have no doubt you'll add it to your dining rotation. Cheers!

These Drunken noodles were amazing! Packed with flavor!! Best noodles in town!

Food is fabulous. Service is good. Huge portions! Loud restaurant, we usually sit at the sushi bar or get food to go. Highly recommended.

I can't seem to find phonon their menu but many previous customers have purchased it and loved it. Is it named something else on the menu? Perhaps I looked at an older menu but can't seem to find the pho. Hmmm.

I'd be really surprised if they'd taken it off te menu. The had 3 or 4 different types. I've only had the meatball pho, but it was outstanding. The staff and he owner are really friendly, just give them a call if you have any questions.

We ordered the poblano chilaquiles with the volcano chicken and the bacon and pineapple fried rice with crispy chicken katsu.Fir the chilaquiles the plating was good but can be improved upon the cilantro was cut into very uneven pieces with large pieces of the stem included, whilst there was a random 5 pieces of grapes in the corner of the plate. Also for this dish the poblano sauce did not taste super fresh and like the tomatillos were from a can, the volcano chicken was good and seasoned well but the only complaint is that they did not go well with the dish. For both the dishes the portion sizes are huge and easily would leave you with leftovers, if you choose to.The fried rice itself was under seasoned and could've used a bit more soy sauce or salt whilst cooking, the overall plating of the dish was not that presentable as it was topped with, more uneven cut green onion with the addition of the dish having a pool of oil in the bottom of the bowl.I also observed that the manager was walking around and asking tables about there experience but he did have a airpod in whilst working which gives me the idea of the type of workplace and environment it is behind the scenes.

The cornbread had a subtle sweetness that paired well with its flavor. I also liked how it had a waffle shape to it, very different. I was a bit skeptical about the honey walnut shrimp at first because it looked pretty simple, but it ended up being delicious. The Spam fried rice was also nice, the pineapple paired great in it. This restaurant's version of Thai food was extremely disappointing…read more If the dishes were at least somewhat close to authentic Thai food, I could understand. But these weren't even close. We ordered the chicken satay and larb (laab). The "chicken satay" was simply a whole chicken breast served with a coconut sauce. Calling it Thai chicken satay is honestly embarrassing. Authentic Thai chicken satay is marinated in coconut milk, curry powder or yellow curry paste, turmeric, coriander, cumin, garlic, fish sauce, and palm sugar. It develops its signature yellow color and sweet-savory flavor before being grilled on skewers. Please look at the picture and judge for yourself. The larb was also disappointing. It was so sweet it tasted more like a dessert than larb. Authentic larb should be: * Tangy from lime juice * Savory from fish sauce * Fresh from herbs * Spicy from chilies * Slightly nutty from toasted rice powder Instead, it lacked the bright, bold flavors that make larb one of Thailand's most famous dishes. It was disappointing to see two simple and well-known Thai dishes prepared so far from their authentic flavors. I understand that restaurants sometimes adapt recipes to local tastes, but when a restaurant advertises itself as Thai, I expect dishes that at least resemble the flavors and preparation of traditional Thai food.
