Outside
Connie H.

I was admittedly hesitant to go into this place because the outside was so off putting, but based on the great reviews, I pulled up the big girl bib and walked into a cute set up and was warmly greeted by a young woman. I'm going to be extra harsh on the tempura sweet potatoes only because the California roll was very good. The batter wasn't what I expected from a true tempura batter-the sweet potatoes were bland- an Asian sweet potato would have been preferable. I would have also preferred a soy sauce based dipping sauce rather than a sweet/spicy sauce.. overall- 2/5 The California roll on the other hand was exceptional. The roll wasn't heavily riced which takes great skill and was generous with the 'innards' 5/5. They don't have soups- hopefully they will add some at some point!

Food and service was fantastic! Homey atmosphere and the sushi was really fresh. Best we've had in the area. We will definitely be back

Tried mamy places in San Antonio, and to this day, this is still my go to. I always come back here when I can for the wonderful people who work here and the absolute quality of the rolls.

THE BEST SUSHI IN THE AREA, FAIR PRICES, AMAZING SERVICE, AND I CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN! I am not going to lie, when I booked marked this place, I was praying I could get a little bit of "California" type of sushi. NO-Not a "California roll", just sushi the way it's made in California! LOL. I was so happy, when I finally found it! FOOD: 10/10 - edamame - sushi - monkey brain - spicy tuna heaven - crab puffs Everything we ordered was a 10/10. My absolute favorite was the spicy tuna heaven. It's like sushi nachos! Everything was fresh, and I literally cannot wait to go again. The spicy edamame makes my mouth water! Customer service: 10/10 The man (I think owner) and his wife are just wonderful. They checked on us a perfect amount of times, the place was clean, and the food was so awesome. The way they presented it was the cutest! Please never stop serving it with the cute neon lights! Haha. Just know someone like myself and family really appreciate the details. :) PRICE: 10/10 In my honest opinion, it's very fair. There are so many great items at different prices, and I can appreciate that. Like, there are very good higher priced things, and much lower priced items for just as equally delicious items. For example, a jalapeño lagoon is $4.95- and A shrimp and veg tempura is $9.00. All still affordable, just diff prices for diff things. In all honesty, Everything we ordered I absolutely enjoyed. All in all, I'm counting down when to come back to my now favorite restaurant in TEXAS. This amazing Family owned restaurant has our business for as long as they're here!

True Love roll

I stopped in because I appreciate local businesses and I was pleasantly surprised. The presentation of the menu items was exquisite and sure to impress your plus one on date night. I ordered the True Love roll and two pieces of Snapper. Both were delicious and I plan to return to try more of the menu items. They only have hot sake but the kind server let me know it's also BYOB. There is a liquor store next door so you might want to stop in to grab your drink off choice to enjoy with your meal. I hope you try this place and help local small businesses thrive in Cibolo!

Went to this place with friends after another place was closed. Staff was friendly. We had the some appetizers like the gyoza dumplings (pork) fried that was really good. Also the Edamame and Jalapeño Lagoon which is jalapeño deep fried with cream cheese and crab meat. I had the Avocado roll which has Chicken Tempura, avocado, cucumber and sushi rice. Normally they would top it with spicy crab but I asked to have mine without the crab. It was really good. Got our food quickly. My friends enjoyed the different rolls they ordered. Will definitely come back again since there are other things in the menu I want to try. It is also reasonably priced.

This might be my new favorite sushi place. It was hard to find but worth it. We had the dragon roll in the shaggy dog roll. Came out on a plate with these really nice decorations. The sushi was as good or better than any of the other places I've been going to around here.

Do not let the exterior appearance fool you, this place was great. Everything was fresh and well prepared with reasonable prices. The service is great.

I'm late getting to my review but a friend recommended this place and it's a new go to spot for Sushi for and my family . The Volcano roll and the Schertz roll were really good and the food came out hot and fresh. The staff and the chef were nice and engaged with customers . We also enjoyed some hot Saki with our meal. I'll be back really soon.

We heard great things about this restaurant and wanted to give them a shot. We had a lovely experience sitting at the sushi bar. The chef told us about the restaurant and was very friendly. Our food was delicious and the little extra touch of the plate art was well received by my girlfriend and I. It was a little hit in the restaurant on the 100+ degree day. Not sure if the ac was out or something but something I hope isn't a regular occurrence. Didn't detract from the experience. Will be back

Love it here so much. It's our date night staple. Taste is always fresh. I love that they remember us. They're super friendly! Orders come out quick. I LOVE the art that they do with their plating. So cute. The attention to detail is phenomenal. 10/10

I stopped in around 3 PM. First impression from outside wasn't great. Some of the lettering on the sign was peeling, there were a few bird nests around the exterior, and the phone number signage only showed the "210" area code. Still, the reviews were strong enough that I decided to give it a shot. Inside, the menu was surprisingly extensive, with Thai, Chinese, Pho, and sushi options. I briefly considered sushi, but figured Thai was the safer bet given the restaurant's name. One thing that stood out though was that the sushi bar itself was mostly blocked from view by decorations and bottles, so you really couldn't see the fish or prep area. Service started off well. I was seated quickly and the waiter brought menus right away. I asked him whether he preferred the red curry or the Pad Phet, but he mentioned he was new and hadn't tried either dish yet. I ended up going with the Pad Phet because it offered a combo option with chicken, beef, and shrimp. For appetizers, I ordered the Thai spring rolls and seaweed salad. The spring rolls came out quickly and were very good--crispy, fresh, and probably one of the stronger parts of the meal. My entree arrived shortly after and was also enjoyable overall. By the time I finished eating, I assumed the seaweed salad had simply been forgotten. Then, while I was trying to flag down the waiter for the check, he returned with the salad and apologized for the delay. To his credit, he acknowledged it right away. The presentation was nice, although the salad itself felt a bit underdressed. What held the experience back most for me was the overall upkeep and atmosphere. There were quite a few small things that individually wouldn't matter much, but together created a worn-down impression: peeling wallpaper in several spots, empty boxes near the entrance and wine storage area, and wine bottles arranged somewhat haphazardly. Even little details--like the obstructed sushi bar and uneven decor--added up to a space that felt less polished than it could be. Overall, I enjoyed the food and would consider stopping in again when I'm in the area, but the restaurant would really benefit from a little more attention to presentation and maintenance to better match the quality of the meal itself.

Meat Jun (Korean egg-battered beef, so tender), Chicken Katsu (crispy panko perfection), Kalua Pig (that smoky island vibe), garlic shrimp, loco moco, teri chicken, Spam musubi. Big portions, perfect rice, legit mac salad every time. No watered down "Hawaiian inspired" nonsense. Every bite is the real island deal. Hawaii local food is that old school plantation days multicultural mix. Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese influences and more, all blended by Hawaii's cultures. Not strictly indigenous Hawaiian food. Service is family style aloha. Owner and staff super warm, welcoming, full of pride. You feel it in every plate. Portions huge, wait's worth it for the hype (call ahead, brah). As kamaʻāina visiting, this hits home hard. Straight comforting. If you're from Hawaiʻi traveling through, or don't know Hawaii local food but want the real old school plantation days multicultural deal (not pineapple ham pizza), make the drive. Closest thing to home out there. My San Antonio go-to. 5 stars, no cap. Returning every trip!

For what we ordered, there was just too much rice and not enough meat on our plate. The short ribs and garlic shrimp were ok. We thought for what we paid, it just wasn't worth it. I Would consider to possibly come back and try their all you can eat down the road.

Another Saturday (last weekend) another trip to Thai O Cha--because once clearly isn't enough…read more At $15.99 for AYCE Thai, it honestly feels like a loophole in today's dining prices. But what keeps us coming back isn't just the value--it's consistency. The food tastes home-cooked, comforting, and reliably fresh, with trays constantly refilled and dishes coming out hot. Service is where they really shine. The front is run by just two women, Ang and KK, who somehow do it all--turning tables quickly, checking guests out, and still managing to be attentive and kind throughout. It's efficient without ever feeling rushed. Yes, it's a bit of a drive out to Universal City for us, but every visit ends the same way: full, happy, and already planning the next one. How soon? A True Hidden Gem Near JBSA-Randolph…read more I've been coming to this hidden gem, Thai O'Cha, since 1999, and it has never disappointed. This sweet little Thai restaurant near JBSA-Randolph is one of those rare places that just gets it right every single time. They offer a plentiful buffet, and the food is always hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. You can tell everything is made with care, and the flavors are consistently spot-on. The service is awesome too -- friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. My absolute favorite item is the crispy duck curry. It's rich, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and honestly crave-worthy. I order it whenever it's available and think about it long after I leave. If you're looking for authentic, comforting Thai food with great service and a cozy neighborhood feel, Thai O'Cha is a must. I'll happily keep coming back -- just like I have for over two decades.
