Mango Sticky Rice

I love That food and I always compare every Thai restaurant to the Thai food I've had in Thailand. A lot miss the mark but I will say Thai Chef is a must try. The service was A1 the waitress was very attractive and made a recommendation when I was torn between options. The restaurant is a nice size considering it is in a plaza. I ordered the seafood combination curry (Thai spicy) it was flavorful. The seafood was cooked perfectly. It was so good that I didn't even take a picture . When it came to dessert I couldn't pick so I had two: mango sticky rice and flan. Definitely suggest giving them a try.

Pretty standard Thai strip center restaurant in Texas. Nice decor, friendly and very attentive service. Music on was fantastic. Pad Thai was ok. Skimpy on protein (chicken). Beer was cold

It was busy, there was a lot of people. We had to wait a bit until being seated, but not too long. The food was fresh and everything was decent. I wasn't a fan of the Austin deep fried sushi rolls, BUT their regular sushi rolls (which came with the bento box were delicious). I had miso soup, but forgot to take a photo because I devoured it.. it tasted perfect! In terms of ambiance, the restaurant is a bit small, and maybe a bit crowded. Their high chairs are not typical sturdy wooden restaurant ones, and I felt a bit paranoid with my baby in it (because it has 4 individual legs, and if someone trips on the high chair they might take your baby down with them). Overall, a decent place to go, closer and more convenient than my favorite Japanese place in San Antonio. I think I'd prefer to take it out rather than dine in, but I would recommend it.

A very small restaurant off FM78 between Schertz and Cibolo. The service was very nice and quite helpful. We started with the papaya salad. The fish sauce was a little heavy. The fruit with veggies came in rather large chunks with a side of romaine lettuce leaves. Might have been meant to be a lettuce wrap but it did not work well. Now ... the Pho and massaman were AMAZING. The veggie pho was full of lots of veggies ... amount and variety. The broth was savory. The massaman had a deep curry sauce ... a little heat that slowly built. Packed with chicken, potatoes and cashews ... rice on the side. The sauce was creamy and the dish was aromatic ... curry, cardamom, and cinnamon.

By mistake I ended up at this restaurant. Never heard of it before. I had to follow my friend with a damaged tire to this side of town and stumbled upon it. We were starving! The place is packed! It is a smaller restaurant and every single table is occupied which made me even more curious to try it out. The waitresses are super friendly and the tables are so close to each other we started chatting with our neighbors. Everyone is praising the food. We get a curry, pad Thai, spring rolls and a couple other appetizers. To my surprise the food was delicious! I will definitely be back when I am on this side of town

Thanks Rose for your great customer service and kindness.

Great food and service with a smile Rose and Brandon were outstanding. I plan to return.

These Drunken noodles were amazing! Packed with flavor!! Best noodles in town!

The food here is incredibly savory! The drunken noodles are definitely a highlight. The amount of flavor in one dish should be illegal! Best noodles I have had in a long time! Definitely a hidden gem.

Thai Chef is cooking some of the most delicious Thai food I've had. The classic Drunken Noodle is spiced just enough that you know you've accomplished something, and the noodles are spot on al dente (chef's kiss). The chicken satay appetizer is tender, lightly seasoned, and accompanied by a phenomenal spicy peanut sauce. The space is intimate and warm, and managed by kind and engaged staff. This is most evident as the staff greets regulars by their first name... I love this! I highly recommend you try Thai Chef, and I have no doubt you'll add it to your dining rotation. Cheers!

What a great Thai place near Randolph AFB! The food was authentic and very fresh with amazing flavors and perfect presentation. The staff was very attentive and having a reservation was essential for this busy place. We shared all the items and it gave us all the opportunity to check out all the food combinations. We live about an hour away and we will be coming back often. Huge portions and so tasty. A restaurant not to be missed.

Ask the Community - Thai Chef

I can't seem to find phonon their menu but many previous customers have purchased it and loved it. Is it named something else on the menu? Perhaps I looked at an older menu but can't seem to find the pho. Hmmm.

I'd be really surprised if they'd taken it off te menu. The had 3 or 4 different types. I've only had the meatball pho, but it was outstanding. The staff and he owner are really friendly, just give them a call if you have any questions.

UPDATE to my earlier review: Back visiting Texas from Hawaiʻi and Big Aloha's Aliʻi Cove in…read moreUniversal City keeps delivering. Same aloha spirit, even stronger now. Food is straight fire. Meat Jun (Korean egg-battered beef, so tender), Chicken Katsu (crispy panko perfection), Kalua Pig (that smoky island vibe), garlic shrimp, loco moco, teri chicken, Spam musubi. Big portions, perfect rice, legit mac salad every time. No watered down "Hawaiian inspired" nonsense. Every bite is the real island deal. Hawaii local food is that old school plantation days multicultural mix. Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese influences and more, all blended by Hawaii's cultures. Not strictly indigenous Hawaiian food. Service is family style aloha. Owner and staff super warm, welcoming, full of pride. You feel it in every plate. Portions huge, wait's worth it for the hype (call ahead, brah). As kamaʻāina visiting, this hits home hard. Straight comforting. If you're from Hawaiʻi traveling through, or don't know Hawaii local food but want the real old school plantation days multicultural deal (not pineapple ham pizza), make the drive. Closest thing to home out there. My San Antonio go-to. 5 stars, no cap. Returning every trip!

For what we ordered, there was just too much rice and not enough meat on our plate. The short ribs and garlic shrimp were ok. We thought for what we paid, it just wasn't worth it. I Would consider to possibly come back and try their all you can eat down the road.

Another Saturday (last weekend) another trip to Thai O Cha--because once clearly isn't enough…read more At $15.99 for AYCE Thai, it honestly feels like a loophole in today's dining prices. But what keeps us coming back isn't just the value--it's consistency. The food tastes home-cooked, comforting, and reliably fresh, with trays constantly refilled and dishes coming out hot. Service is where they really shine. The front is run by just two women, Ang and KK, who somehow do it all--turning tables quickly, checking guests out, and still managing to be attentive and kind throughout. It's efficient without ever feeling rushed. Yes, it's a bit of a drive out to Universal City for us, but every visit ends the same way: full, happy, and already planning the next one. How soon? We actually don't know yet!

A True Hidden Gem Near JBSA-Randolph…read more I've been coming to this hidden gem, Thai O'Cha, since 1999, and it has never disappointed. This sweet little Thai restaurant near JBSA-Randolph is one of those rare places that just gets it right every single time. They offer a plentiful buffet, and the food is always hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. You can tell everything is made with care, and the flavors are consistently spot-on. The service is awesome too -- friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. My absolute favorite item is the crispy duck curry. It's rich, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and honestly crave-worthy. I order it whenever it's available and think about it long after I leave. If you're looking for authentic, comforting Thai food with great service and a cozy neighborhood feel, Thai O'Cha is a must. I'll happily keep coming back -- just like I have for over two decades.
