Ordered on New Year's Eve 2021. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because it's a holiday but we ordered our food at 5 pm for a 715 delivery and it was truly awful. The crab puffs were soggy and chewy. The curry was the only thing that resembled Thai food and despite ordering spicy plus had zero spice. The crab pad Thai had zero crab in it and while being spicy was somehow flavorless. If you're looking for Thai food, look elsewhere. Combined with the news of Betty White dying and this food, 2022 has to be better. read more

A group of friends and I were in town, and on our last night decided to give Thai Bloom a try. They had great food options, were walking distance, and had great reviews. When we arrived, the hostesses were great at seating us and answering any questions we had. That all changed when our waiter, William, came our way. William presented with a flat, uninterested affect and seemed rushed. We started with ordering our cocktails and beverages, and when they arrived, they weren't as ordered. Things happen, so I got up to ask for the things missing. When it came to ordering food, again, he seemed rushed and uninterested. The food itself was great. The thai boat noodle soup, tom yum, chicken, and seafood dishes were great. I asked for a spicy sauce sampler, and guess what? He forgot. When I asked the nice gentleman, he knew exactly what I was talking about and went to go get it for me. As he was prepping my sauces, William approaches him, laughs, and proceeds to loudly say "oh s%&t, I forgot." When we were done with our food, he brought our bill and didn't ask if we were interested in dessert. We asked him for the dessert menu, ordered, and to our surprise, the desert was missing the ice cream the menu indicated it included. At that point we were so over our waiter that we didn't want to ask for the missing ice cream. When it came to paying, William explained he couldn't charge both parties their order, and we'd have to figure it out and tell him how much we wanted to pay on each card. First place in PDX we had an issue with this...but okay. It's a shame the service was so poor, because the food was great. But it'd be hard to choose to return after that below average service. read more

Tom Kha was delicious I did have to add chlli paste and also chilli flakes ! My husband had the pineapple fried rice and it was decent. There were raisins in the rice which was throwing off the flavor a little bit. I would definitely come try other food here and come back especially on a cold day. read more

I had the pleasure to eat at Thai Bloom recently, with a group of about 10 people. They were very accommodating, the service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered a large variety of dishes, including lettuce wraps, cashew chicken, spinach curry, and assorted appetizers. We asked if it was possible to have separate checks and their method of dealing with it was so simple. Each of us went to the front desk/cashier, told them what we had ordered, and paid our bills individually. Many places balk at allowing separate checks with large group. Another plus is the ample parking, much of it with large shade trees. It was a particularly warm day so it was nice not to have to go back to a steaming car I have been to Thai Bloom twice before and my memory of a great meal was confirmed. I wanted to try this place from long time so decided to give it a try yesterday night. We ordered spring rolls and Tom kha soup for starters. Tom kha soup was good but oh boy spring rolls were very oily. We were able to see dripping oil on the plate. My husband ordered cashew tofu for main course. Cashew tofu was the only dish we liked from our whole dinner. It was flavorful. I ordered Pineapple fried rice and guess what there were no pineapples! Our server offered me to make new pineapple fried rice but sorry to say both times rice was missing spices, salt and again it was too oily! I wonder why this place has so many reviews. I am giving one extra star only for our server. She was really helpful. I wish restaurant will improve their food quality soon especially control oil and add spices on the appetizer & rice menu. read more

Pretty standard Thai food. They have all your favorites and a few specialty items that really aren't worth the price in my opinion. There's a dining room, a bar area, and then patio seating. Servers are fun and engaging, always on the prowl. The kitchen however never seemed to be able to meet the capacity of the diners when I've been there. It's slow and I hope you like talking to your dining companions because it's a wait! Sometimes we joke that going to the Thai Bloom food cart nearby would be quicker. read more

Okay, so I'll admit I was very disappointed with our first trip here, mostly due to service. After seeing my review, the manager was gracious enough to give us a store credit to try it again. That was an impressive move so me and my husband thought, totally let's go back. Maybe it was just an off day, people have those sometimes. So we went back today for lunch. There were only 3 other tables with people seated when we got there for lunch so we thought- yes, awesome, let's get some good thai and get back to work! But...no. It took us 80 minutes from when we walked in to when we left. 11:30-12:50. Ridiculous....especially when there was only 3 other tables and literally like 10 people working. My crab pad thai was swimming in oil and was extremely under seasoned. It was missing that quintessential punch of sweet, tangy, sour....you know how pad thai is supposed to taste. Husbands ginger orange chicken had a great flavor but was really dry and was kinda lukewarm when it got delivered to the table like it had been sitting for awhile. I wanted so hard to like this place, but there seems to be no regard for people's time during lunch hour. It is inexcusable to wait so long for a simple noodle dish and some chicken, especially when they turn out to be rather dull in flavor. I ate enough noodles to not be hungry but still had a lot leftover so my husband got a box for it. The best Thai food I have ever had. The spicy Basil Chicken is my favorite but the yellow curry is a close second.

Have been dining here off and on for a couple of years. Dine-in, take-out, and delivery (their own service, and DoorDash). Have tried many dishes here and everything has always been good, maybe not the best in the world, but pretty good and fairly consistent. Portion sizes have always been good as well. I will say the two most common noodle dishes - Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles - come with no bean sprouts) and Pad Pad Thai (comes with some bean sprouts) are a little heavy on the sauce. By comparison, both dishes can really vary from restaurant to restaurant anywhere. Some have a lighter color and flavor while others are darker and heavier. Thai Bloom is definitely on the darker, thick and heavy side, maybe just a bit too much. Basil fried rice is a tasty favorite, if you don't specify mild it certainly can get spicy, enough to make you sweat if you're not spice tolerant. The crab fried rice and Pad Thai (Dungeness) is also an excellent dishes without the heat. Curries have nice balanced bright curry flavor. The featured pork and ginger pot stickers here are also super tasty, and there is a chicken version on the kids menu. Where this place keeps dropping the ball is with the bean sprouts, sometimes it's the little things! I have specifically asked for them on take out orders and delivery several times. NOT ONCE have they included them despite the printed receipt clearly showing "add extra bean sprouts or side of bean sprouts" next to each item, I'd even pay extra! Not much better results dining in, I usually have to ask at least three times before they get them. Last delivery I also paid $2 extra dollars for a small side of peanut sauce and they forgot that too! They do get super busy weekend evenings, but that's no excuse to keep forgetting items or ignoring them. Once is understandable, but over three times in a row is ridiculous! Note - If you use DoorDash for delivery expect to pay an extra $2 on almost every main dish, this is set by DoorDash (no GrubHub or Uber Eats) and DoorDash also adds a hefty service fee. Using Thai Bloom's own delivery service through their website or phone-in is a far better option for the regular pricing without the service fee, but delivery wait times can be almost 2 hours during the dinner rush. Pickup service is a popular option as the togo table is always stacked full of orders. The main dining area isn't huge, and it does fill up quickly, maybe the equivalent of around 14 four seater tables? If you want a quiet dining experience, don't come during the busy hours as it gets pretty noisy, especially if people are celebrating an event. There are also several tables in the bar area. They do take reservations and so far they've always worked out when coming with a 0-10 minute wait time for a family of four. In nicer warmer weather there's maybe another 10 tables outside along the covered sidewalk area that wraps around the restaurant. We've always had decent service dining in, servers check with the table often but often but seem to forget the extras you might ask for, like drinks, utensils and bean sprouts !! Parking is fairly ample but also gets a little full so you might not end up right by the main doors. The disabled ramp entry is the long way around over by the bar entrance. Establishment has always been in good clean working order when we've come in. All-in-all, not terrible, but definitely going to try somewhere else next time. read more

Thai Bloom has always been a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, that has changed after tonight's experience. First of all, our server was clearly overwhelmed as he had the entire half of the restaurant to himself on a Sunday evening. We learned later on, after reminding him that we never got several items we ordered/asked for, that there were several call outs and they were understaffed. While i understand it was NOT our servers fault, this really did cause many issues throughout the meal. Our order was not taken in an appropriate timeframe, our appetizers came out with the meal, food items were forgotten, and we were never checked on during the meal. I can deal with an overworked server that is trying their best BUT what really made me irritated was that the food was AWFUL today. The pad Thai was mushy and bland. We had no peanuts on our pad Thai and the cilantro and chili we requested never arrived. Overall this was a really bad experience and I hope that Thai Bloom gets it together because I really used to love this place. read more

Came here for happy hour before and we were enticed by the cheap prices. This past weekend we came back to meet a friend that was out of town. He was impressed with the prices. We were seated at the bar promptly, but was told there would be a 15-20 minute wait if we wanted a table in the bar area. I ordered the thai iced tea, which I felt was a little too sweet for me, nonetheless, tasty. I also ordered the papaya salad, this isn't your traditional papaya salad you'll get at a thai restaurant. It was merely just papaya with fish sauce poured on top. I would not recommend this plate if you're looking for the laos/thai style papaya salad. I also ordered the spicy wings which came out at room temperature, nice thing was that they let me take it home. I had a bite of their pad thai, and this was very tasty and at a good portion sized too. I would recommend the pad thai over the other 2 things that I ordered. We ordered potstickers and fresh salad rolls for appetizers. I can say with complete sincerity that everything was beautiful to look at and very tasty. Hot things are served hot and cold things, cold. Fresh flavors, too. The salad rolls come with peanut sauce and a chili fish sauce for dipping. For dinner we shared tom kha soup with chicken, a beef-and-basil dish, an eggplant dish, green curry, beef pad thai, Lao style papaya salad, and a shrimp dish. Everything was delicious.
