Yes, they look like chicken feet. The chicken inside is such a small piece you are mostly eating the fried batter. If there was actually pieces of chicken that you could taste, I would rate it. Although the sauce is good, I didn't plan on eating fried batter with yummy sauce. I may be up to giving this restaurant another try since I only ordered the orange chicken, but I will never order this here again. read more

Amazing Service. We had a special order and they cooked fresh food for us., with no meat, no fish, no oyster sauce and no eggs. It took them a while to prepare the order. They offered us free Thai Tea. Of course it came with a decent tip. But above all, very pleased with the food & Service. Also it is reasonably priced and offers a long list of menu items. read more

We were in Visalia for a few days while visiting Sequoia National Forest. We ended up at Thai Basil and were happy to have found it. The service was very friendly which is always nice. The spring rolls were the biggest ones we've had and came with a small cup of sweet sauce with peanuts. The Tom Kha soup was good. Love the coconut flavor with lime. We also had the yellow curry with tofu and a side of rice. Very flavorful. Make sure to ask for the spice platter if you like spice. Overall, a decent experience and good place to stop by after a day at the sequoias. read more

Damn!!! Some of the best Thai food I've had. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Thai. I've been to Thailand a few times and lived in the Bay Area, so I know my Thai. We had chicken pad Thai, broccoli chicken, panang curry, and pad Kra paw. Every dish was packed with flavor. Chicken was tender and not over cooked which I usually find with Thai places. The only thing that was not 100% was the Thai iced tea, it was extremely sweet. However it was not a big deal. Will be back again! read more

Really cute and cozy restaurant located right by Safe One bank and the new Starbucks by Noble avenue. For the restaurant being this small, I'm glad that it wasn't stuffy inside like most small places I visit. The food was ok, not overly amazing..just ok. Definitely not something I would call my "go to restaurant." I would come back and try something else, not sure what though. I ordered the shrimp chow mein, with the spice level at 5, and some fried shrimp as an appetizer. Prices here are not that great, but I guess that depends on how good your food is. We travel around the USA with our RV and get a lot of Thai food take-out. This place is great! Best we've found in a while. We had Tom Kha soup, Pad Thai, and Broccoli with garlic sauce. Be warned that the spice is for real, and the overall flavor of the food is authentic and wonderful. Portions were huge. They will probably be busy, so be patient. A local gem! I hope Visalia residents value and appreciate what you have here. read more

"Oh no." That's what I thought to myself when I took the first bite of my take out order of pad see ew with beef. I've been craving Thai food for the past 2 days, so I had high hopes for my fav Thai dish, but it was "oh no" as in "oh no, these noodles are kind of rubbery", "oh no, I asked for mild, but why is this so spicy?", and "oh no, I wish this broccoli wasn't raw". Solid Thai restaurant, with plenty of tasty dishes and welcoming staff. I was here last night with a big group and had a great meal. We ordered a mix of staple dishes, including pad thai, fried rice with pineapple, curry chicken, spicy ground chicken with bamboo, and chow mein. Everything was very good, and sizable. I'll make this review short and to the point. If you're looking for modestly priced Thai food, this isn't a bad spot. I will say the food the last two times I've been have been less than great. Edible but not very enjoyable. I'm sure there are other dishes here that are worth buying so I'm leaving three stars. I would avoid the pad Khee mao though, as it seemed pretty bland. read more

Thai Basil is a bit of a shock: it isn't just good for a Visalia restaurant; it's actually better than most Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. it's basic, traditional Thai food, but done really well. The red curry with chicken is definitely the standout menu item, with nice fresh flavors. They don't have a huge selection of appetizers, but the plump spring rolls with shrimp are excellent, as are the fried spring rolls. Unfortunately, the mango with sticky rice is disappointing; the rice is oddly gelatinous. But the coconut ice cream is pretty good. The restaurant is clean and well run. It's popular but you can usually get a table. read more

Ordered take out for my parents this evening and everything was perfect. My mother thinks pepper is too spicy, but they were able to make it mild enough, which some Thai places are hesitant to do. The woman who helped me was friendly and helpful and had the most beautiful eyes I've yet to see above a Covid mask. Looking forward to coming back while I'm in town. read more

Passing through Exeter for three days and ended up finding this restaurant first night. And, then, second night! The food was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. I appreciate that they offer "levels" of spice for the customer to decide when ordering. This was actually one of the best Thai restaurants I have eaten in. The veggie spring rolls were absolutely delicious and so refreshing - we had them two nights in a row. The egg rolls were also very good, as was sweet & sour shrimp-the shrimp tasted super fresh and a decent portion. We also tried the tofu pad thai and another noodle dish (mee swee?) - two nights in a row. Place was clean, service was good...What more can you ask for?! If you are in the neighborhood (or in Exeter) definitely worth a try. read more

Amazing find, mid-June! All portions served were HUGE, much more than the average Thai restaurant. Very authentic taste; spices are strong and bold! Called ahead a large, to-go order, and everything was ready in a very reasonable 20 minutes. Front lady was very friendly and personable. Definitely recommended in Visalia! read more

Really good Thai food, and conveniently right off the 198. They had all the traditional Thai dishes, and the orange chicken and Thai iced tea were delicious. What really blew me away though was a special dish they created called Avocado Green Curry- I wasn't sure at first if this combination would work together, but it worked so well!! Hope next time I am back here I will be able to visit and have this dish again! Thanks again to the owners for a memorable dining experience and great food :) read more

Thai Basil Restaurant was started by Chef Somyoht (Steve) back in 2008. After his wife got her Dentistry degree, Steve and his decided to move back to Thailand. He had own the restaurant for roughly 2 years before it was sold to Bob and Mollie Silakone in October 2010. And in 2016 they have sold the restaurant to Panee and Joy Silakone who's used to cook for Steve the old owner of Thai Basil Restaurant

The dining area was clean and quaint. The prices are affordable and the food is good. They do not have a liquor license so no beer or wine sold. The General Chicken was good but no kick at all. Generally it has a little spice. The chicken chow mein was flavorful and chicken generous. The egg rolls were crispy and not greasy like some other spots in town. All in all a pleasant experience if you're hankering for Chinese without a cocktail.
