First time trying this Thai restaurant that my friends had recommend. To my surprise there was a sign at the door that said "Saturdays Take Out Only". I decided to go in and get food anyway even though I had planned to eat there. I ordered the Tom Kha with Tofu and Cashew shrimp. There were many tables however all had the chairs turned upside down. I had to drive home to try the food so by the time I got to try I was not impressed. Definitely not the best Thai food in the area. I won't be going back not worth the drive for me. read more

P.S. -- YOU **M U S T** get the Orange Chicken FRESHHHH* if you get it to go... there's a chance you WILL not have the same experience as me lol it softens with the lid close because of moisture, so you will not have a "crunch" but more of a chewy texture. Kind of disappointed with my service. For my birthday lunch I called and ordered chicken pad Thai and a Thai tea for pickup. I then had my husband pick it up for me. When he got home, we realized they had given me soup. Chicken tom kar(???) I believe, which sounds nothing alike nor could you have paid me to order that correctly considering I don't know what it is. I guess my mistake was not having her repeat the order over the phone before pickup. Anyways, my husband drove it back to explain the mishap and get the correct meal but the restaurant had closed. It re-opened at 4:30 so my husband drove back(again). The staff was irritated and tried to get my husband to pay for the meal again because they said they weren't the ones to make the mistake. This is a small quaint Thai restaurant in southeast Visalia tucked away in Mary's Vineyard plaza around the corner from Little Caesar's pizza. The staff is always friendly and attentive whether dining in or grabbing to-go. The prices continue to be reasonable with lunch specials at $13 and $2 more for beef or shrimp. The soups are great and perfect for thwarting off the sniffles. Their Thai tea is spiced beautifully with gorgeous orange red color and so flavorful it's gone before you know it. During the work week it gets very busy during lunch. They now close at 2:30 instead of 3:00 for lunch but will have your order ready if you call in by 2:10. The lunch portions are very generous and can be shared or saved for leftovers. Small parking lot next to restaurant but generally can find parking there or nearby. You can never go wrong with Thai Basil! The food is amazing! We love coming here for the Pad Thai and also coming for the lunch specials. The only thing I would clear up is when they're open and close. We went one time nd online said they were open, but it was actually closed. The ambiance is really nice and feels authentic! Was looking for plant based / vegan options in visalia and came across this. The pictures of the large white menu are the most recent. Items you may find online they no longer make, like orange tofu. Ordered fried tofu appetizer, fried rice with tofu (no animal products), pad see ew (no animal products), pad kra paw, and mango sticky rice. I really love Thai food and have consumed a LOT of Thai curry in my life. Thai basil is excellent. Their curry does run a bit on the salty side, but the flavor is phenomenal. And oh my goodness is their tofu good. I don't know what they do to make it, but I was shocked at the first bite I took. I have had a lot of tofu, but the way they prepare it was truly divine. They ask you various spice levels 1-5 with 1 being mild. I like lightweight spice but knowing some Thai Chile's are super spicy I asked for level one in my green curry with chicken and shrimp and it was spicyyyy. Good flavor but definitely spicy. Decided to stop in here one day for lunch. They had a great lunch menu and was priced decently especially for the quality of the food. I decided to go with my favorite, Panang Curry with white rice. I went with spice level 8/10 and I definitely feel it was a good spicy but I think I could have done 10/10. My friend ordered the Pad Thai 5/10 and said it was okay spice but tasted delicious.
