Fríed rice
Veronica P.

We've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant since we arrived in Visalia 2 years ago and tonight we were craving some pork fried rice so we were on the hunt again. We initially were going to try Zen but they closed early so we found Shanghai still open. It was an hour before closing and it looked like it was a slow Sunday night. It was nice and clean. Our server was very attentive and got our drinks and orders promptly. Our food arrived nice and hot. The food was super delicious and we were very satisfied. The sweet and sour was nice and crunchy. Almond chicken had a lot of flavor. Fried rice and chop suey was good too. We have found our new favorite Chinese restaurant.

TikTok brought me here and I'm glad it did! It was my first time and I was not disappointed. Everything was delicious - especially the potstickers! The customer service was great. It's in the corner of a shopping center, easy to miss... but you'll be glad you went.

Best Chinese in Visalia! Staff friendly, huge portions, large menu with many options! Love the walnut shrimp and hot and sour soup!

Fried wonton, fried shrimp; and egg roll.

Came here for the first time the other day for dinner because we've never been! Walked in and the lady working there in the front desk was on a phone call with a customer and didn't even acknowledge us walking in. The customer on the phone sounded like she was ordering food for a party so it literally took 10 minutes of our time. My daughter and I just sat there waiting for our order. The lady then had another call coming in so we waited ANOTHER 5 minutes without being acknowledged. When she got off the phone, we finally got our order (it was a phone order). We ordered one of their dinner combinations that came with orange chicken, fried wontons, egg roll, fried shrimp, chicken broccoli, chicken chow mein, and pork fried rice. I remember the total being $16+ as of 6/2024. Not bad ! We took the food home and everything was delicious. Orange chicken was juicy, fried wontons were fried to perfection, egg roll was yummy, fried shrimp was fried to perfection, chicken broccoli was yum, chow mein was delicious, and pork fried rice was yum! I'm so happy we found something closer to us than Panda Express if we're in a hurry for Chinese food. Wish the service was a bit more welcoming, though. Come check them out!

Prices have gone up significantly and the quality of portions and food hasn't maintained the same level pre-pandemic. We still like the food it's just not the same level it used to be. They are finally open inside again for dining and not just take out. I have added updated better quality photos of their menu as the prices have all changed.

We had to wait an additional 20 minutes beyond pickup time. I could have forgiven that if the food had been good.

Food is very fresh and service is timely. It is evident they've been busy today but they are all working to attend to each guest.

Chinese Kitchen - Fried Shrimp and Pot Stickers

On a recent trip to Visalia, we got the craving for Chinese food and after searching Yelp we…read morediscovered Chinese Kitchen was one of our best local options. The target customer demographic in this area isn't generally Asian, so we tempered our expectations before dining here. We were impressed by the extensive menu offerings and after some deliberation, we settled on the Dinner for Two which started with a Won Ton Soup and fried shrimp and pot stickers as appetizers. The entree included sizzling rice wor bar, Peking pork and pork fried rice (we substituted for pork chow mein). The restaurant was very traditional in closing the meal out with fortune cookies. Our favorite due to its flavor was the Peking pork, and we also enjoyed the fried shrimp, pot stickers and sizzling rice wor bar. The only misses were the Won Ton Soup (we felt the flavor of the broth was not quite right) and the pork chow mein (it arrived lukewarm and lacking in flavor but it was an improvement after dousing it in chili sauce). Chinese Kitchen doesn't appear to be located in the best neighborhood, but it is easy to tell that this establishment has been around for quite some time. The best part of our dining experience was the service. Our greeter and server welcomed us, took our order and checked in on us multiple times. We also had the opportunity to chat with the owner and she is very welcoming and helpful. If you're in Visalia and have a craving for Chinese cuisine, Chinese Kitchen is as good an option as any!

But my friends who recommended it they've came but only for the drinks on the Lum Lums side. Hong Kong is the the food side apparently. So I ordered the Shrimp Fu Yung. I got stir fried shrimp with veggies over a clump of breaded onion. The shrimp was over cooked veggies were fine. The breaded onion seemed like it might have been reheated from a previous unused dish. If it wasn't for the gravy it wouldn't have rehydrated. Wasn't this an Egg Foo Yung dish, instead it was a clump of breaded onions. That's how bad it was. This place was busy but don't know why. The other people I was with ordered lemon chicken, orange chicken, fried rice, fried plain wontons, sweet and sour chicken. They all seem to enjoy it. They received a lot of food. But a lot was taken home as leftovers. My friends are also non-Asian and not a big foodie like me. So take that however you want. It's sad when businesses close but to make a highly traditional dish like egg foo yung terrible, that is a sign.
