I came here with my family for dinner while visiting Visalia. We were seated immediately, service was quick and friendly, and the food was pretty decent. We ordered the beef chow fun, shrimp lo mein, tofu with vegetables, and a sizzling seafood dish. The food came with free egg drop soup. When ordering I asked the waitress to make sure the tofu with vegetables was vegan, and she didn't seem to understand what that meant but told me it would be fine. The tofu dish was pretty flavorful with a nice variety of vegetables, and the rest of my family said their food tasted decent as well. The portion sizes are very generous, and prices are not too bad.

I was hungry for Chinese and decided to give this restaurant a try. It's located right on the corner of Noble and Linwood (4 way stop light here). It can be a little confusing since there is a Mexican restaurant there also. The Mexican restaurant appeared to be out of business. The entrance and parking for the Chinese restaurant is on the Linwood side. The stop light makes it easy to get in and out of the parking lot. I ordered the beef with tomatoes and vegetables fried rice. Both were huge servings, I will get 3 meals out of my order. The beef with tomato was perfectly seasoned and had perfect proportions of beef to tomatoes. The veggies in the fried rice were perfectly cooked. Not overcooked or undercooked. Great variety of veggies in the rice. It doesn't look very inviting from the outside but don't let that stop you from giving this place a try. Their hospitality and food are well worth the stop. Give them a try, I'll be back!

The food is good I got the special A came out to 15 and change ordered a Fanta 32oz and it jumped up to $19.51 the guy was nice on the phone when I ordered it but the lady in front was rude but whatever! The chow mein was one of the best I've had around the 559! The broccoli beef juice being so close to the chow mein I didn't like cause it just got it soggy l, the rice was also very good! Nevermind that older lady upfront and don't get a fountain drink, go across the street and get a 2liter and sneak it in

What a pleasant surprise, I have driven by this place hundreds of times and never thought about going in this place; wow! The service was quick, and ambiance was nice, patrons would come in and mostly do take out. The food selection was awesome, literally something for everyone and everything we tried was delicious! Please make this the next stop you make when you are craving Chinese cuisine!

The quality of the food is delicious The walnut shrimp dish could've been more quantity although the quality was delicious They had more walnuts, than the shrimp .

Made a call in order during the pandemic and the food was incredible!

First time here and I called my order in and got one of their dinner specials. I got the salt n pepper calamari and it was soo good! The calamari was cooked to perfection! Update 8-31-20: Made a call in order during the pandemic and the food was incredible! A lot of restaurants unfortunately have been going down the tubs since the pandemic but not New Star! I hadn't been there for 4 years because of the parking. You do have to back up right into traffic BUT now I have a car with a backup camera! I hadn't stopped thinking about New Star since I went 4 years ago because of how tasty their food is! During the pandemic they are doing their best to stay within the CDC guidelines. That being said, they have a little pick up window so you don't even have to go inside the restaurant! We ordered Combo plate A, B, order of potstickers, and SALT N PEPPER CALAMARI! Everything was so good but the calamari was truly the star of the show! Highly recommend!

Came here for dinner mid week. Was not crowded, but they were doing take out orders. We ordered the house chow fun and BBQ pork with snow peas. Both had good flavor. Peas were not overcooked. Portions were good sized and service was fast. They even gave us soup with our meal. Place was clean with nice ambiance. Next to a taco place and across from Roller Towne. Free parking and easy access to the 198.

Daily special A, chowmein only no veggies.

Good portions, reasonable, filling. Good service. Not very busy while there. Other diners seemed to be enjoying their meals.

The target customer demographic in this area isn't generally Asian, so we tempered our expectations before dining here. We were impressed by the extensive menu offerings and after some deliberation, we settled on the Dinner for Two which started with a Won Ton Soup and fried shrimp and pot stickers as appetizers. The entree included sizzling rice wor bar, Peking pork and pork fried rice (we substituted for pork chow mein). The restaurant was very traditional in closing the meal out with fortune cookies. Our favorite due to its flavor was the Peking pork, and we also enjoyed the fried shrimp, pot stickers and sizzling rice wor bar. The only misses were the Won Ton Soup (we felt the flavor of the broth was not quite right) and the pork chow mein (it arrived lukewarm and lacking in flavor but it was an improvement after dousing it in chili sauce). Chinese Kitchen doesn't appear to be located in the best neighborhood, but it is easy to tell that this establishment has been around for quite some time. The best part of our dining experience was the service. Our greeter and server welcomed us, took our order and checked in on us multiple times. We also had the opportunity to chat with the owner and she is very welcoming and helpful. If you're in Visalia and have a craving for Chinese cuisine, Chinese Kitchen is as good an option as any!

But my friends who recommended it they've came but only for the drinks on the Lum Lums side. Hong Kong is the the food side apparently. So I ordered the Shrimp Fu Yung. I got stir fried shrimp with veggies over a clump of breaded onion. The shrimp was over cooked veggies were fine. The breaded onion seemed like it might have been reheated from a previous unused dish. If it wasn't for the gravy it wouldn't have rehydrated. Wasn't this an Egg Foo Yung dish, instead it was a clump of breaded onions. That's how bad it was. This place was busy but don't know why. The other people I was with ordered lemon chicken, orange chicken, fried rice, fried plain wontons, sweet and sour chicken. They all seem to enjoy it. They received a lot of food. But a lot was taken home as leftovers. My friends are also non-Asian and not a big foodie like me. So take that however you want. It's sad when businesses close but to make a highly traditional dish like egg foo yung terrible, that is a sign.
