Located in the Town Centre at Laurel, this Thai place has decent Thai food that will satisfy your craving and uniquely curated cocktails with thoughtful presentation. If you're dining here with a large party, know that they don't accept reservations and make sure to ask if there are any additional fees so that you're not blindsided. As of July 2023, they also no longer have a happy hour menu.
Although the food was pleasant, I can confirm that the reviews about the establishment's poor service are completely accurate, especially the ones emphasizing how rude, condescending, and inconsistent the staff is. To add onto that, my experience also showed how the service was predatory, opportunistic, and unrefined.
Prior to coming, I called twice (on different weeks) to check if they could accommodate a large party with the understanding that seating is first come first serve. They confirmed if they're not busy, they will be able to seat a group of 20 people in two rows of tables. I arrived a few mins before 3 PM on a weekday and explained the previous discussion on the phone. They started setting up the tables while repeatedly questioning when the rest of my group would arrive and exactly how many people will be coming, which was understandable if not for their tone. Two more people arrived around 3:05 PM and 3:15 PM, respectively. Around 3:15 PM, the staff informed us that they can only hold the table for 20 mins before charging $10/person that arrives late. I questioned why this wasn't communicated in advance on the phone or even prior to seating us. They deflected and said they cannot hold the table indefinitely if there are other customers waiting to be seated. Understanding their perspective but noticing how it wasn't busy at all, I explained that we are flexible, offering to move the tables apart and combine them as our group arrives so that we're not hogging tables. They refuted, saying they will be busy soon because there is a concert happening nearby and people will be flocking in later. After a lot of back and forth with the staff (who then stepped aside to speak with their team), they proposed an alternate option of applying 20% gratuity to our large party and emphasized how the menu noted "18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more." We agreed since we were going to tip more anyway with a large party. Some people wanted to order additional carry out orders (to take home) on separate checks, which the staff confirmed was fine and the 20% gratuity wouldn't apply. However, the staff still ended up applying 20% gratuity to the additional orders.
Overall, the lack of transparency, blatant price gouging, and inconsistent guarantees left a bad taste in our mouths. Throughout our time there, the restaurant had an abundance of empty tables. It also turned out that the free 7-8:30 PM "concert" at the shopping center was canceled due to the forecasted thunderstorm. read more
