Three of us were here for a late lunch and enjoyed everything we ordered. We were expecting the place to be particularly busy since we stopped by on a Sunday, but we were immediately seated at a cozy corner booth. The interior is nicely designed and had a homey feeling to it. Service was excellent. Everyone here was very friendly and welcoming, from the girl who took our order to the owners. FOOD: Bangkok Wings ($7): These were delicious! Each sticky and spicy wingette and drumette is fried perfectly, each with a crispy exterior and tender meat. From what I tasted, the 2-chili sauce adds just the right amount of heat; it's a notch above mild, but not so spicy that it'll make your brows sweat. Spicy Eggplant ($13): I loved what I ordered! As the menu states, the dish consists of slices of "fresh eggplant sauteed with minced chicken, basil, Thai chili, red bell peppers, and fresh garlic in a special spicy sauce." The eggplant was not a second overcooked, and was mixed with a generous amount of chicken. I was "warned" that the dish is "3-chili spicy," but I could probably handle it even if it was much spicier. The sauce matched well with the ingredients. We also ordered the Pad Thai ($12) and Thai Boat Noodle Soup ($13). I did not try either one, but both were said to be delicious and full of flavor. The Pad Thai in particular was plentiful; we took home almost half of the leftovers for a second meal. The Thai Boat Noodle Soup was flavorful, but it was also said to be a tad salty, and the bowl a bit smaller than what we are used to seeing. Why did I wait so long??? Nice, clean and stylish. The lunch special is a great way to try two dishes and also a third actually when you add the great soup. $11! Fresh, flavorful and a great value. The Mrs puts the Drunken Noodles up there (despite my sensing a bit too much sodium running through my veins after just one bite). I went to Thai Ashburn today after looking around for some good Thai food and they definitely did not disappoint! We came at around lunchtime which meant that we were still able to get the lunch specials. I got the Lunch #1 and my boyfriend got the Lunch #6. They were both around $10, which was honestly a steal considering how plentiful the portions were. We weren't honestly expecting a lot considering the amount that other Thai places around the area provide, especially for their lunch specials. However Thai Ashburn didn't disappoint with their large portions ! My boyfriend also got Thai Tea, which seems to be made oddly at some Thai places around here with cheap powder, but Thai Ashburn did not do so with their refreshingly sweet Thai Tea. My family and I have been ordering from this restaurant ever since we moved to Ashburn about 8 years ago and we love it! We tried multiple Thai restaurants until we found this one and believe this is the best one in Ashburn. We love it so much we end up getting it delivered about once a week. I am also Celiac and always request my meal prepared gluten free and in all these years they have NEVER glutened me! Anyone with Celiac's knows how much of a big deal that is. As soon as it arrived, I grew wide-eyed with excitement. The broth was dark as night, and looked of a similar consistency of my go-to spot for boat noodle soup. I warily scooped a bit of the broth into my spoon for an initial taste test in case I needed to make any adjustments with the spice rack. However, as soon as the flavors hit my lips and onto my palate, my eyes lit up in awe. I continued to pick up some of the rice noodles with my chopsticks and placed them in my spoon as I submerged the spoon into the bowl to allow for an even broth to noodle ratio and very much enjoyed what I was tasting. The beef was also cooked to a perfect temperature, juicy, and tender. At last, I have found a place to satisfy my cravings for boat noodle soup when I do not want to make a 52 minute drive out to my go-to spot. The service was very attentive, friendly, and quick as well. Although the soup itself was a bit pricier than usual for boat noodle soup in the DMV area, I don't mind paying the price to avoid making an almost hour-long drive out to my favorite spot of all time when I'm having my lazy days. read more

My husband and I got away from the kids for a romantic weekend. We live in Harrisonburg, VA. I used to live in Ashburn. Oh, my goodness do I miss the great food! My husband had never had real Thai before so I wanted him to try it. I brought him to the wrong place by accident but it worked out great. The food was great and I will definitely come here again. He was very hungry and we share everything. So we ordered chicken satay, drunken noodles, and basil crispy duck. The food was FANTASTIC!!! The duck melted in your mouth. The menu said it was spicy but I thought it was just flavorful and well seasoned . My husband love it too and he typically doesn't like spicy food. The drunken noodles were amazing. I haven't had good drunken noodles since I left Ashburn. They nailed I it. My husband didn't like these as much as the duck. I think they were just a little too spicy for him. Good food! Hotness of the food was very variable... We were four of us on a Saturday evening. We got seated pretty quickly since the place had only two or three dining groups in tables. We ordered Vegetarian dishes and the waiter was very alert and earned us about Fish Sauce being used in some dishes that looked customizable with Vegetables and Tofu instead of meat. Two of us ordered the same dish - I think it was Fried Rice with Vegetables and Tofu. The hotness scale seemed to be varying a lot since the same one star level of hotness (one or two the waiter asked us) produced the same dish - one my wife had to ask for sweet sauce to reduce the heat. The other one was mild. Go figure! For me I asked for the Hot Sauce four-pack container they usually have at Thai places. Nevertheless the ambiance was good, food was tasty and service solicitous, quick and with a smile! The waiter checked in periodically. "And forgotten she remained . . . " That was the theme of my first visit here. I was neglected so hard I started questioning my own existence. It took me a minute to decide what I wanted but once I got it (Beef Kra Pow 3.5/5 and egg roll 4.5/5) I let my server know and he put in my order, I think. More people start coming into the restaurant. I went during lunch rush and the restaurant was about 45 percent filled. My server looked slightly overwhelmed as he was trying to take everyone's order as well as tend to the people that were already eating. Mind you, there are two other ladies working the floor as well, occasionally helping with the tables. Then I start noticing . . . people who put their orders in well after I did had received their meals, and I still hadn't gotten the egg roll I ordered yet. A light bulb goes off in my server's head and he remembers me for a second and realizes that I still didn't have a plate in front of me. He says something to one of the ladies, she starts typing something on the machine - then voila - my entree and my spring roll have arrived (at the same time even though I wanted the spring roll first). I took a couple bites of my spring roll and moved on the my entree only to realize it was noticeably cold with warm spots here and there. I also realized that everyone else had been brought an array of sauces that I didn't get. Ate dinner here on a Saturday night. My party and I were seated immediately. The menu items were plenty. Great appetizers. Picked the calamari and the Dumpling Combo (variety of 10 dumplings which included a wasabi dumpling and shrimp dumpling)...both were great (I recommend the Dumpling Combo). We had the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles (which you can select chili level between 1-4 with 4 being the hottest). Both were excellent. Thai Ashburn is a great little Thai place with a very solid selection of vegetarian options, so those who follow that diet should check this place out! Thai Ashburn is a small little Thai joint in a quite nice strip mall. It's very nicely decorated inside and quite quiet, which I liked. Service is quick and very friendly, and prices are ridiculously cheap. The vegetarian options here are good! Many entrees are served with "your choice of meat," which can include vegetables and tofu in replacement of the meat. The green curry with vegetables and tofu was quite tasty - not particularly spicy, but it didn't need to be. The fried rice was equally good, and it even had a bit of an interesting sweet flavor that I didn't expect. The only complaint I have is in volume - there really wasn't a lot of tofu in comparison to the vegetables. That was a bit of a shame, as the tofu was excellent. Although the food is fine we had a very bad experience with this restaurant. On Wednesday the restaurant ran an ad in the Ashburn Today newspaper offering 30% off for dine-in or pick-up. We'd eaten there before and enjoyed it so the ad encouraged us to give them a try again. At the pickup area I presented the coupon and they denied it saying "it wasn't their coupon". The coupon described that it was being offered because they were celebrating their 1 year anniversay. I pointed that out and the restaurant staff person said "we have only been here 8 months, that not us!". Reluctantly I paid the $47 check and left with our food. When I got home I found the ad and ... yes it was clearly from Thai Ashburn. Today I went back to restaurant so I could bring this matter to their attention and get the credit due us. This turned into a nightmare. They agreed that they made a mistake but claimed they couldn't offer a credit because the "books were closed". When I insisted on the credit I was told that I would have to call the owner. Wow! This is getting out of hand and now the money wasn't the issue - it was the principal. I called the owner who dismissed me by suggested that I "use the coupon next time". After threatening to call the credit card company, the newspaper and post this experience on Yelp and Facebook he agreed to return the $13.00 to me in cash. This was probably an honest mistake (I'm giving them the benefit of doubt) but the way they handled it was horrible. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

I wanted to like this place. They have menu of Thai streetfood in addition to the tame, Americanized Thai menu that you see elsewhere. Went in for a late lunch, and had the restaurant to myself. There was no music. My waiter sat a table behind me and was working on something. Definitely too busy to refill my coke. I got the sundried beef and a lunch combination plate. If you are coming here anyway, skip the sundried beef. It reminded me of jerky which isn't finished yet. The combination of fried rice and Pad Prik Khing wasn't bad. Good food, great service, very reasonable prices with lot's of options for a vegetarian. I live in far western Loudoun but once in a while make the trip all the way to Ashburn to enjoy Thai Ashburn. The wait staff are friendly and will make your food exactly as you want it. My favorite is Panang Curry with steamed -not fried- tofu and vegetables and 1.5 elephants of spice. The Ginger Delight is also a sleeper of a good dish. Add the drunken noodles and we have a veggie banquet. Only a 10 minute drive from Loudoun Hospital, it's a great alternative to eating in the cafeteria there. Better than Faang near Wegman's and less expensive.
