Pad Thai Pad See-Ew Thai Cucumber Salad Drunken Noodle Crab Rangoon
    Brian T.

Was staying in Chicago and found this place since it had delivery. Worst Thai food I've eaten. Don't be fooled with the BOGO. It was so bad we had to throw a majority of it out. The crab Rangoon didn't Rangoon. It was a dry mush inside. The "Pad Thai" did not taste like pad Thai at all. It tasted like noodles and ketchup. The pad see-ew and drunken noodles were soggy and didn't have the right flavor. The mango sticky rice was sad. The mango was bruised and the rice was just a big hard clump with no coconut flavoring. Definitely avoid this place.

I love Thai food, I was so excited to try this place and I'm not a picky eater but this is the worst food I've ever eaten. I literally threw it all to the trash.. I'm sorry but I don't recommend this place.

I should have listened to reviews. This is disgusting. I ordered for delivery through grub hub and it took an hour. I was starving just for it to suck. The flavors don't make sense. The meat doesn't taste fresh at all. This isn't pad thai. I cant comment on how restaurant ambiance because of delivery, but i will not be going back at all. I'm so mad because I can't finish eating it and it's a good portion of food - i wish it was good!!!

Thai 55 is one of my go to spots to order from. I always get the chicken pad Thai, and today I also got the chicken egg rolls. The chicken egg rolls were a lot heavier than I expected, deep fried and stuffed with chicken and veggies. The chicken pad Thai is always a MASSIVE portion, plenty for 2-3 meals. I would definitely order again!

This is what was on top of my basil fried rice. Crushed red pepper flakes?! And I asked my dish to be mild, not spicy. Unacceptable!

I am disheartened to write this review. I have been to this establishment to dine in twice in the past. The food was fresh and tasty. Since I was in the area on 10/16/20, I decided to get take out from them as it had been awhile since I got food from them. Due to covid, you can't dine in at this time. I called in and ordered the Shrimps in a Blanket, Basil Fried Rice (requested it be mild) and I had them add jumbo shrimp to it and Thai Pepper Steak. I knew there would be an upcharge to the addition of the shrimp to the fried rice but I was not informed how much it would be. I also was not informed of what my total would be. I picked up my order and was surprised that my total was almost $34. The receipt doesn't itemize each item to know what I was charged so I wasn't happy with that. The shrimps in the blanket were good like they normally are. The pepper steak I was very disappointed with. All of the beef was very thinly sliced and tough! Very few peppers and onions with the dish. When I had that dish before, the beef was thick pieces and very tender. Last but not least was the fried rice. I asked for the fried rice to be mild, not spicy. When I opened the container to the rice, all I saw was tons of red crushed pepper flakes that had been spread on top of the rice. Who does that?! Plus I said mild - what in the world! I tried eating it and a few hours later had a very uncomfortable experience going to the bathroom, my butt was on fire! I wanted to call the establishment but I am not near their location so I knew I wasn't going to be able to return the food. Like Cassius P. said in his review, I ended up having to throw the rest of all that fried rice out which was a costly item and a total waste. I noticed that other people have talked about the red pepper flakes in their reviews also. Many of the reviews on here are not good so there needs to be some improvement here. At this point, I will not be returning to this establishment.

The absolute worst Thai food I've ever seen. One bite of pad Thai with some strange red sauce that tastes like it has cheap tomato paste in it made me gag with disgust. How somebody could have the complete and total lack of any pride in their work and serve that to a customer is something I can't even comprehend. Oh and the dry mealy chicken.... I feel sad for the poor sad chicken that gave its life to be even further abused by this dish, I cried just a little bit.

In browsing through the pictures of Cindy's Rooftop, it looked like it hit that criteria spot-on. The pictures did not lie. When entering the restaurant, the views of Lake Michigan through floor to ceiling windows were amazing and it was nice to enjoy the bright natural light from the glass roof. Once seated, I told our server, Gerardo that it was her birthday and he immediately got her a glass of bubbly on him! He was positive and easy to talk to. This was quite the contrast with the service at Bar Mar for dinner the night before where the server made no attempt to make the night special. We ordered the Blueberry French Toast and the Chilaquiles. The french toast was superb, being thick, fluffy and sweet. The Chilaquiles were pretty average...what I'd expect at a cheap Mexican joint so at $25, it was quite pricey but I will say the over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly. Throughout brunch, Gerardo checked on us frequently and when I asked for the check, he came back with a dessert and a candle as a final gesture to making my girlfriend's day special. I am so glad we came here because it truly was an experience, thanks to the great service, beautiful rooftop, and good food.

My partner said the steak sandwich was the best they ever had. The filet was easily the best steak I've ever had though the dry-aged ribeye at Abrasado in Mendoza, Argentina is a close second. The grand martini was a perfect pairing for the chilled seafood. They threw in a complimentary brownie with ice cream for a bday dessert which was appreciated on multiple levels. We're not affluent and a meal like this was definitely a splurge but I have zero complaints and would 100% come back for a comparable special occasion. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, and balanced very well with the light appetizers. The calamari was a very fresh take on a classic. The sweet tangy thai sauce was quite a surprise, and although I wish the calamari itself was more crisp, I couldn't help myself but go back for more! Im sure the crab cakes would have been better fresh from the kitchen, but I admittedly let them sit while I started this review. If it's any consolation, here's a note from my southern belle herself "now those are some d*am good crab cakes."

With disappointment, I write a review that is for the first time less than stellar. Our family and friends have been guests of Pappadeaux for many years. And for the past several years, it has become her restaurant of choice to celebrate her birthday each year. She loves Pappadeaux. It is only because of her love for Pappadeaux that we continue to arrange dinner for our group that averages between 20-25, simply because Pappadeaux is not group friendly; does not extend itself to make efforts to accommodate. Let me qualify the review by saying I am very aware of Pappadeaux's policy to reserve space for a maximum of 10 in one party, though they do accept reservations for more without guaranteeing the private dining room but would endeavor to accommodate. What we are told each year and clearly understand is the use of the private room requires its own staff and logistical advance planning, which is why I make the reservation well in advance. Though they can't guarantee the room, they make a note of our request and advise us to check with the manager on duty, who would make the decision. On September 5th, we were told by the manager (Julio) that the private room was not available because they didn't have any staff that could cover that area. He said he would have to pull staff from other areas to accommodate us. And in order to assure us a good dining experience, he would seat us together with the public to guarantee us a better dining experience. Being a business owner, I clearly understood and graciously accepted the area he suggested which indeed could accommodate us all. UNTIL, I walked by the private dining room by coincidence soon thereafter and noticed a group of 10 that was not only seated in the private room but was being SERVED by a SERVER, who Julio (the manager on duty) told me minutes before was not available. On my way walking by the room sometime later (it was nearby), I noticed a different group of 10 was seated and being served in the private room that was not available to us. I do realize our group was larger (21) but however they assigned to serve the two groups of 10 (total 20) could have accommodated us. We waited hours for food anyway. Thus, my complaint is not that the room was not available; it appears that we were lied to, as the room in fact was available and STAFFED. Julio's reasoning for accommodating us in the public dining area was to ensure we'd have a wonderful dining experience. Well, that didn't work out so well either. We received less than quality service. The food was exceptional as always. We were assigned four tables and three servers. Patrick and Chey were phenomenal servers. However, 3 guests at the table to whom the third server was assigned, had not received their meal after two hours, while others at their table had eaten. I know the timing because I know what time we were seated and looked at my watch after noticing the guests still without food at 6:08pm. When I asked one of the guests what they ordered, it was simply gumbo and a salad. No one was preparing their food; there was little to prepare! They were forgotten! I asked another server for assistance, who went to the kitchen, got approval to serve us and immediately assisted until the entire group was finally served. But they unfortunately opted to take their food home by that time. The assigned server did not return until near check time. I could have lived with all of it, except BEING LIED TO. The private room was always available, was STAFFable and STAFFED. Whoever the space was given to came in after us. Though my mother loves Pappadeaux, coupled with the fact that we spent nearly $2k Saturday and each year before at this event, not including what we spend in visits during the year, we would need to be TREATED AS WELL AS THE OTHER GUESTS to return. We must not be made to feel UNWELCOME, UNDERAPPRECIATED and UNDERVALUED at any time. Otherwise, it would become necessary for us to explore other restaurant options that are more customer friendly to groups and would appreciate our business. Again, I don't mind the policy, but why not staff the room in advance when a reservation is made 1-2 weeks in advance, rather than having to check and see who is available or willing to stay in the moment, especially when you know we are coming! I believe that is a policy that needs to be revisited. I would hope that Pappadeaux's values our business enough to respond and contact us. Looking forward to hearing from you. Pastor Olivia Johnson

Well, it is kind of tucked away in a desolate area on Canal Street, but still. One of my good friends suggested we check this place out after hearing about it from a co-workers. The only thing I know about Vietnamese cuisine is pho (which for some insane reason, I've never had) and banh mi, which I tried (and loved) while visiting my fave cuz in the Bay. . I arrived early to this very large, beautifully decorated venue on a Tuesday night and was intrigued by the set-up. One side was all tables, the other side was tables and multiple gigantic screened tvs playing Family Feud and the World Cup games. Kinda crazy. I chose to sit on the big screen side while waiting for my date. He called to say he was running late and to get the order started. I had been waiting a bit, so i caught the eye of one of the workers, who came right over. He was so friendly and accommodating and answered all questions. I ordered the green Thai kumquat iced tea, spring rolls and the chicken wings he highly suggested. He rushed off to place the order. Moments later, a couple of distinguished gents walked in and sat at a huge round table cater-corner from me and soon thereafter the nice man who took my order sat down with them. I'm assuming he was the owner for obvious reasons. I gained more respect for this establishment because customer service goes a very long way with me and he obviously cared about that. Our server, a very friendly young lady, brought my drink out and I was surprised to see that it was served in what looked like a sippy cup, with a cartoon design on the lid. Kinda weird seeing as I am an adult, but it was a tasty beverage, nonetheless. My friend showed up as the spring rolls and chicken wings came out. We devoured both, which were delicious and then placed our orders. I went with lobster noodles and my friend got the beef tenderloin pho. Even though my entree presentation wasn't the best, it was a very tasty dish to both of us. The beef tenderloin pho was definitely the star of the show! The broth was fragrant and flavorful and the beef was tender beyond measure. I'm an avid ramen fan but this pho definitely had my attention and I can't wait to try more. Ocean Bar and Grill is such a cute, quirky place that caters to date night diners, groups and families. They were all in there that night and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I know I did. I'll definitely be taking my daughter when she comes home from her summer internship!
