I went there for Saturday lunch. They have a $7 special (entree + appetizer). It's not bad. The server recommended the soft shell crab ($15.95). I was a bit leery but gave it a shot. With the super creamy Penang curry sauce, it's little spicy but creamy. It's better than green curry. for the appetizer, get the golden fritter. I went to sri prat thai a few weeks ago and can't tell much difference between them in terms of food. price wise, thai 101 seems to be lower and bigger dish size. they didn't place my order correctly. One of our order did not come!!! I took my mom there for Mother's Day. And it was my mom's entree that didn't come. The waitress didn't put our orders in correctly. She wrote it down. But don't know why our order was never placed. I ordered 3 of the same appetizer only 1 came. All our orders was not taking correctly. Very disappointed And when I got the bill. Minimum gratuity was 18%?? With that service. No way I was gonna give 18%. This is a very affordable Thai restaurant. They have $7 lunch specials and majority of their dinner entrees are $10. I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and a Thai iced tea. The Thai iced tea comes in a mason jar, which is cute. One of my biggest pet peeve when I order drinks is when they put too much ice & they filled it half way with ice. So I would skip the drink or ask for less ice because otherwise, it's not worth it. The drunken noodles are really good and I didn't find it too spicy! It could also have been because I was drinking Thai iced tea because my friend tried some of my dish and said it was really spicy. & her spice tolerance is much higher than mine. My boyfriend and I found this place 2 years ago and we keep coming back even though it's more than a 20 min drive. Every time we come here we get a table right away, the food is great and the atmosphere is very chill. Definitely not a crowded, noisy place(which we prefer). I'm really confused because this place doesn't deliver to me from grubhub because my address wasn't even in range , but they did when I called in the order over the phone. The delivery guy came by bike, just to show you how close I live to this place. Anyway, let me review this place on their food and then on their service. The food was just ok. The yellow curry with chicken was actually quite good, just make sure you order an extra rice, as the one you get with the meal is small, and from ordering yellow curry from other places before, I knew to do this. The other item I ordered was the chicken lettuce wraps. They were practically inedible. I will upload a photo of them to show you how nasty they looked. The lettuce was at the bottom of the container, and the chicken was on top with a whole mess of soggy sauce rendering the lettuce wilted completely. Not to mention the whole thing tasted of an overdose of fish sauce, I just wasted $10. The saving grace was the yellow curry at least. Then we come to the delivery guy. Since I couldn't order online I placed the order by phone. The lettuce wraps, yellow curry, and an extra small rice came to $23.95. So I had two 20's and thought that when the guy came I'd round up to 24, give him $3, totaling $27, and then ask for $13 back from my 40. He said "no change", and I was like huh? He reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of crumpled up singles, and said "no change". I had three dollars in the house, so I almost went in to get it (thinking I'd take less, leaving him with a larger tip), and he was hesitant to count it, again showing me a wad of what appeared to be singles. I spotted a fiver, so I said, let's count it, maybe you have enough. Well low and behold, guess what? He had $13 and then some! I said, see? You do have enough, how wonderful (partially sarcastic). That kind of behavior really pisses me off. Trying to get a larger tip out of me almost left him with no tip at all. But I wanted to be fair, and what was fair was to give him the $3 I had initially intended on giving him in the first place, despite his scummy behavior. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner, it took them 30 minutes to bring us our drinks, then we asked when we could expect our apps and after another 15 minutes the waitress came back and asked us if we wanted to cancel because not everything has been prepared yet. Best Thai food around! I tried this place and fell in love, been here every 2-3 wks since I discovered it a few months ago. First time it was just me and my 8yr old. Next time I brought both my daughters. After that I brought son and hubby too. We love it. Everyone here is super friendly and nice. The drinks are strong but yet tasty enough to enjoy. My new favorite Thai food place! This place opened about a month ago. I've eaten here 3 times already and the food is outrageous. The owners are very nice and friendly and very courteous. The decor is very trendy and dark, but cozy with dim lights above your table. They appreciated the compliments and told them that I'd be back every week. My fiance and i went here last night because we were craving thai food. our go-to spot on bell is erawan but wanted to try bonne saison because of all the rave reviews on yelp. We walked by and it was completely empty. we walked across the street and found this restaurant. They offered a dinner special: 2 entrees and 1 appetizer for $20. we ordered calamari, pad thai and pad ke mow. The food was surprisingly really good! The decor was nice and they played old school rap and hip hop which was a nice trip down memory lane for us. Definitely a great find and we will be coming back. The only con was that the service was a bit slow but i'm sure they're just working out the kinks since it's a new restaurant. read more

I took my parents here, as a measure to explore more place on Bell Blvd. I'd only taken away from this place once and sitting in the restaurant definitely completely the experience. We had three completely different appetizers and three different entrees. Everything was absolutely amazing, especially the firecracker shrimp appetizer and the Thai fried rice. The only warning is that our group likes spicy and we didn't ask for them to be additionally hot.... and they were very spicy. Went this evening, Halloween, for the first time. The place is fairly empty, and as soon as you look at the menu (aesthetically), you get the feeling that this is someone's first-time business venture. The service was typical "take your order" service, and there were enough servers to get you a quick response. On the other hand, they were quite empty, while the new Paraguayan place across the street was packed with 1-hour wait. The lettuce wrap wasn't incredible, but I'd probably get it again if I were ever to return there. The dressing that the chicken and red onion soak up was nice, and I could taste the lime and vinegar in it. It was almost like a chicken ceviche, if that were possible, served on big leaves of lettuce. The three of us found the Pad See Iew to be so-so, and a bit spicy, actually. It's supposed to be spicy, but most places have the sense to remind us by asking how spicy we want it. My wife got a soup and liked it (though it reminded me a little of vomit in broth). The Dumplings were not exciting at all. They tasted like they were boiled in plain water instead of fried or steamed. And that was it. The Sorbet I got immediately afterwards down the block at Maggie Moo restored my sense of satisfaction. Oh, one really cool thing I forgot to mention is the Lychee Iced Tea. That was strong and really tasty. I loved it, and it had 3 lychee in it. Man, if there was vodka in there it would have changed everything! read more

One of the many little Thai places springing up in the NYC area. It's actually bigger than it looks from the outside, with plenty of seating that's not cramped at all. Went here for the lunch special, and it was filling and well made. The basil mojito was also quite good. I had the Bangkok chicken and sausage, which was well sauced, and flavorful. My second time here in two weeks. Surely it was the price of the food and quality which drew me back here for a second time. First time was with the family. We ordered pad thai, sweet and sour chicken, pad see ew, and pineapple fried rice. Oh yea, also a Thai iced tea. Everything was good, service, food, atmosphere, happy hour drinks, etc. Just one issue, found a piece of hair in my food. However, the staff swiftly apologized and showed their great service by offering me a refund on the food which I found the piece of hair in. Props to them. Thai 101 is just a great place to grab lunch or dinner with friends and family while going easy on the pocket. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some good classic thai food on a limited budget. Second time going there was a charm also. This is a great place for some cheap, delicious and excellent service of Thai food. I got the spicy pineapple curry with chicken which was flavorful but not too spicy. The ingredients tasted fresh and the different textures mixed in like the bamboo shoots and peppers and pineapples were wonderful. The happy hour menu is also awesome with its drinks. I got the princeess cocktail which is a mix of grenadine,vodka, peach snapps and pineapple. I also tried the cosmopolitan. Both drinks they made strong and sweet which I appreciated that they didn't water it down. Happy hour is only $5 for cocktails, $4 for a glass of wine and 2 beers for $6 super affordable. The staff also let us linger and didn't try to rush us out at all. Absolutely love this place and would come back to try more dishes. read more

Ordered a pick up of basil chicken noodle. Very flavorful and I enjoyed it.  It was like a pad Thai but different sauce which I liked. Even the portion was smaller than usual but I was happy to finish my meal without having the rest go to waste. Cheap lunch but realized later she gave me the wrong change. Annoying ... Tried this new restaurant on Bell tonight, was so excited to see a new restaurant but sadly, it didn't live up to our expectations. First off, the service was novice at best.. Table setting and water had to be waited for, shouldn't that be a given?! They had two servers on a Friday night.. I understand that it's a new restaurant but the service was horrible. We had to constantly stare at our server to get attention. We got our appetizer, fried calamari, fairly quickly but had no utensil! I ordered seafood pad Thai which was good, he ordered beef pad see ew which I did not like at all. Beef was way too chewy and the rice noodles were way too sweet. We also ordered a side of sticky rice which did not come out with our entrees and had to ask for it twice! Also, we had to ask for our water which came out after our entrees. Probably wouldn't come back although I really enjoyed my pad thai. I really wanted this to be our go-to Thai restaurant.... I guess we will have to stick to Elmhurst and Woodside for some good Thai. read more

We had food catered for a work party. I've been to BKNY and Erowan in the area they both are decent compared to here. The pad se yu is amazeballs. The spicy peanut sauce is great. Chicken satay as well. Great place can't wait to get more food again. read more

We went here for a weekday lunch on our day off looking for a decent thai restaurant outside of flushing. The service was good, and metered parking was easy to find, however, the food was unfortuantely severely "americanized" Good thin chewy but crispy Roti canai is difficult to find outside of Thai/Malaysian restaurants in Flushing and Elmhurst. Seeing roti canai and curry puffs on the menu was what brought us to the restaurant. Here are reviews on the dishes we tried: Roti Canai: sad oily thick pancake close to what you could get from the frozen section in a local supermarket. The accompanying condiment should be a glorious yellow curry, but what came with this roti canai, was an over-sweet sad cross between peanut sauce and maple syrup. Curry Puffs: The crust was flaky, but heavy. Instead of the light chicken/potato curry goodness fillling we are accustomed to, we got heavy soggy overly meaty salty and sweet filling. The pickled cucumber shallot salad was sadly presented as thin wrinkled slices of cucumber floating in a dipping bowl which consisted of 70% watered down picking juice, and 30% condiment; an indication of lack of freshness and skimping on quality. Lunch special: Fritters: after seeing all the rave reviews, we chose this free appetizer for the lunch special. The fritter was a sad deep fried, underseasoned ball of unrecognizable protein, accompanied by watered down thai sweet chili dipping sauce. Basil noodle: overly salty, overly sauced, over-cooked noodles. The chicken had a weird fishy odor and taste. We had to drink four bottles of water to recover from the salt load. Thai iced tea: Friends who had visited the establishment raved about the iced tea. At first taste, the iced tea seemed to be made from a black leaf tea with a distinctive taste. Unfortunately, the overpowering sugar content coated my tongue and left a bad lasting aftertaste which disabled my taste buds from appreciating anything but the high salt load from the meal. The lunch special was a good price, however, the regularly priced items on the menu are otherwise overpriced, especially for the lack of authenticity and lack of seasoning other than salt in the dishes. I would not return here for lunch or dinner again. At least the coca cola was decent and they take Visa. read more

I've drove by this spot a few times and decided to finally check it out with the family. Clean atmosphere quiet crowd and of course we started our dinner with a few jars of Thai iced tea. The waiter and reviews pointed towards the firecracker shrimp so that's what we did. Nice appetizer to start off with getting that slight tangy zing. For entrees we got the salmon with garlic sauce special and sriracha chicken both very nice. The salmon had nice crispy texture finish and very nice. The sriracha chicken also very nice and more of a mild spicy so my daughter was able to enjoy it. Overall a good 1st impression and we will be coming back to try different items next read more

We have been here multiple times in the last couple of weeks of March. We came here with a couple to celebrate my husband's birthday and we came here just ourselves and had great time. My husband owns a wine shop so it's very difficult to have him drink any wine that he's not comfortable with. So in this cases we called to ask if we bring our own wine. They charge the corking fee but it's well worth it if you bring your own favorite wine bottle. The food was phenomenal as usual and we were not rushed as we spent time enjoying the food and wine. I order the pad Thai and my wife ordered Bangkok chicken. Both dishes were average. My pad Thai was burnt. Service was really good as there weren't anyone in the restaurant. I was craving Thai usually I go to woodside for my thai fix but I wanted to stay local. Prices are good and portions too. I order the firecracker shrimp, roti, tom yum soup and lychee ice tea. We ordered this first while we were waiting for the rest of out party to arrive. The fire cracker shrimp was frozen???? And the roti was like a scallion pancake without scallion and flavor. Tonight was my fourth time here. Brought my brother and my mother this time and they loved it. My brother is a very picky eater. For him to say everything is delicious is rare.
