-- PLEASE DON'T RENOVATE THIS PLACE INTO SUBURBAN BEIGE Visited Saturday, August 1, 2026 Some people visit Delaware for tax-free shopping. Some visit the beaches. Some presumably conduct legitimate corporate activities involving LLCs and attorneys. I drove there because I wanted to check Delaware off my list of states visited, photograph the State Capitol in Dover, and--because apparently I now conduct interstate travel like a deranged CPA with a drinking problem--check another state off the equally important list of STATES WHERE I HAVE CONSUMED A SHOT OF WELL VODKA. Culture comes in many forms. My buddy and I were driving from Atlantic City toward Baltimore and decided to take the scenic, wildly inefficient detour through Dover. This involved what I believe were three separate $6 tolls going in and three more coming back out. SIX. DOLLAR. TOLLS. $36 IN TOLLS TO VISIT DOVER. At that price I expected the Delaware State Capitol to come with a complimentary senator and perhaps a small parcel of land. Nevertheless, mission accomplished. Delaware: VISITED. We then spotted Friday's and decided celebration was necessary. Now, normally nobody says, "Gentlemen, we have reached Delaware! QUICKLY! TO TGI FRIDAY'S!" But that was precisely the level of sophisticated decision-making taking place. And I am extraordinarily glad it did. From the outside, this Friday's looks like your fairly standard modern suburban chain restaurant--big red-striped awnings, broad parking lot, clean exterior, everything politely announcing: YES, CHICKEN WINGS EXIST WITHIN THESE WALLS. But walk inside and suddenly things get interesting. The bar had this wonderfully comfortable, slightly old-school feel: dark stained wood, warm lighting, red seating, glassware, bottles, old decorative touches and enough seasoned restaurant-bar character that it actually felt lived in. Not manufactured nostalgia. Not some designer's 2026 interpretation of what human beings supposedly enjoyed in 1997. It felt like a BAR. A gloriously unfussy, relaxed, wood-paneled American bar. And after God-knows-how-many hours on the road, it was EXACTLY what we needed. We rolled in somewhere around 2-3 p.m. Saturday and met Monica, who was tending bar and immediately made us feel welcome. Super friendly, easygoing, personable--and kind enough to charge my dying phone behind the bar, which at that point was approaching technological hospice care. We ordered some chicken wings, which were pretty darn good, an ice-cold beer, and then began conducting serious interstate research involving approximately three or four shots of well vodka. For science. For Delaware. For America. Our other bartender, Amaia, also took excellent care of us. Monica and Amaia were both bona fide Delawareans, and between drinks they happily talked to us about their state, answered our stupid tourist questions and generally provided the sort of friendly local interaction that makes an otherwise random stop memorable. That is exactly what good bartending is. You can pour vodka into a glass almost anywhere. Making two exhausted idiots passing through town feel like they belong there for an hour or two takes an actual personality. And these ladies had it. Then came the devastating news: Apparently this location is eventually going to be shut down and renovated. NO. Owners. Corporate people. Architects. Consultants. Whoever is sitting somewhere right now examining flooring samples while saying things like "contemporary casual." PUT THE SAMPLE BOOK DOWN. Please. The place already HAS something increasingly difficult to manufacture: character. The dark wood works. The stained-glass touches work. The slightly old-fashioned bar works. The red booths work. The warm, comfortable, vaguely time-capsule Friday's atmosphere WORKS. Do not turn this thing into another gray-and-white airport lounge with USB outlets, Edison bulbs and furniture apparently designed by an orthodontist. Sometimes an old restaurant looks old because it is worn out. This one felt comfortable because it had history. There is a difference. Food: good. Drinks: cold, plentiful and apparently capable of making Delaware seem increasingly fascinating. Atmosphere: terrific. Service: friendly, professional, hospitable and genuinely personable. And Monica and Amaia were absolute gems. This was supposed to be a quick pass-through stop. Get the Capitol photo. Drink the ceremonial Delaware vodka. Eat something. Get back on the highway. Instead, sitting at that old wooden bar with my buddy, talking with two Delaware bartenders while my phone charged and another vodka mysteriously disappeared, I found myself thinking: Why the hell are we leaving? And for a traveler, that may be the best compliment you can give a place. I went considerably out of my way to reach Dover. After finding this Friday's, I was in considerably less of a hurry to get out. read more

Everyone that works here is dumb as hell!!! And the servers they are just hiring anyone off the street. The server Anthony smells like half a pint of 1800 and the young skinny server couldn't take her eyes off her phone even for a second. My food was made in a rush. Well, not horrible but the service is very slow even at times when there are hardly any patrons. All three of our dishes came out lukewarm, as if they had been waiting to be brought out for a while. Getting refills on the drinks was nearly impossible. The interior is very dated ,Worn and on the edge of being dirty . Far better options relatively close, but if there's a particular item, you just have to have off their menu it may be worth it to you. Parking is a touch limited so avoid busier times . read more

In town for son's lacrosse and almost didn't order due to prior yelp ratings, but we were so tired that we decided it didn't matter. Food was great! I would give this "restaurant ", if I would even call it that, a zero. Was here today to have dinner with two relatives that are both handicapped. A young person pulled up right before them and parked in the handicapped spot crooked. I asked him nicely to please move and why. He refused and was extremely rude. He was picking up food. I'm assuming, Doordashing. I asked the manager to intervene and she said there was nothing she could do. I am furious. The worst customer service I have ever had!!! read more

I see why the average review is 2.5...simply EGREGRIOUS...the GM has horrible customer service skills on top of my order being screwed up for the 3rd time in a row...she had the audacity to be irritated with me because i was irritated that my lunch order was screwed up once again...i picked up 45 minutes after placing order & order was not ready...she did not know how to enter e-gift card...took her over 5 minutes to process payment...for me to find out my order was put in incorrectly...when I asked for a correction, she had the nerve to suck her teeth and this rubbed me completely wrong...i asked for a refund and as i tried to grab my 2nd receipt, she tried to grab it first...i snatched it off the pad & she yells "don't touch me"...I didn't touch the trick but at this point i was livid...don't freaking lie on me...i do not recommend this location as she is a bit comfortable with handling customers in that manner...not me sis!!! Bartender is busy she comes over to me and is very nice, takes my order gives me my drink. No problems with her. Manager continues to talk to the couple, he goes on saying "oh I fired her, she was drinking on the job" Iike sheesh how about you don't discuss peoples business so publicly. Stopped in hear after leaving the Dover race. I thought that other TGI FRIDAYS good that this one would be as well. I was fooled. When I enterd I was seated. But that's when it all went down hill. The server I had took about 10 min to bring be my soda. Then I ordered the new York bacon cheddar burger with fries. Took over 35 min to bring the food out. After receiving my food. It was good done right but waiting so long for dinner is not good. Especially when it was not even that packed to begin with. I don't see myself coming back to this location again. When in the area. But won't stop be from eating at other locations. Always enjoyed the food, with the good jack Daniel's Ribs. To all the good appetizers that they serve. Ordering online was fairly easy. Went to the bar to have a tequila sunrise while I waited since I got there 20-30 early. Bartenders very friendly and attention and the drink was delicious! My order was brought to me when they said it would be and the waitress (Andy?) was great! Plenty of food, the ribs fall off the bone, the shrimp are big and crispy. Good broccoli and mashed potatoes. They do need to warn people when the sauce has a bite to it. I don't like peppery flavors. We haven't been to a TGIFridays in ages. We stopped in to try the endless $10apps. We were seated in a corner booth and our server was Morenzo. I hope you get him! As a matter of fact...ASK FOR HIM! We wanted just a quick bite...nothing major. We did 2 rounds of apps. The first time it was mozzarella sticks and fried pickles. The second round was potato skins and chicken flat bread. The moz sticks were great...almost melt in your mouth. The fried pickles were ok. The potato skins wet as expected and the chicken flat bread....well that was DRY. Skip that! Where do I begin.... I ordered a sweet tea. Then was brought a tea with no sugar. The waitress tells me they ran out of sugar....I'm thinking ok. So instead of asking me if I want anything else I was tod that there are packets on the table. This was just the beginning. I ordered mozzarella cheese sticks were great, but then I also ordered the bruchetta Flatbread and boy what a disappointment. When you order bruchetta you expect tomatoes, I got a drizzle if tomatoes. Then when I asked for more tomatoes I was given cold tomatoes. Really? I asked them to heat them up, they did. After handing out halloween candy tonight, my family and I decided to take advantage of the Monday night 50 cent wing special at Fridays. I ordered the whiskey glaze for an extra 50 cents. The wings were the "worst" I've ever had. They were over fried, dry, day old tasting wings and small at that! The glaze had no flavor other than it being sweet. We had a complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa was up there with one of the worst I've ever had. I've had better tasting jar salsa! My husband's medium glass of beer was $7 and wine is $5 for a 6 oz glass. We've been spoiled by the ginormous tasty wings at Grottos, $2 a wing and worth every bit of it. went here on Monday 3/6/2023 at 5:30 pm parked in a spot up front and walk in with with my party of 4 sat down and order drinks and appetizers the waitress was very nice at the end is ask me to move my truck because I was parked in a curbside parking spot. but the parking spot is not marked plus they have 1 handicap spot and 5 curbside spot I politely told the waitress I would not move my truck she said ok and left. About 2 minutes here comes I guess he was some kind of manager he asked if that was my truck and I said yes he asked me to move it because it is in a curbside parking spot I told him is is not marked he gave me this speech that all of those are marked I showed him that one is not and he threatened to tow my truck. Just want you to know I'm not in a handicap spot and there is no one in the curbside spots either . So he proceeds to threaten me to move my truck or it gets tow or I have to leave the restaurant . so the 4 of us got up and left you can be sure I will not go back here again and i will not recommend this place to anyone. My husband and I stopped here while en route to vacation with our two boys. While entering the building it seemed a bit outdated. The hostess also helped the person behind us before us, but we were quickly seated. Our server, Keysha, was AWESOME!!! She was super nice and probably the most attentive server I've had in awhile. She for us refills before we had to ask, napkins, etc. She even made sure our kids' meals came out prior to ours. The kids meals were perfect portions for them. They seemed to have really enjoyed them as there wasn't much left. Our meals were good. My husband got the turkey burger and said it was excellent. Place a $70 order on July 4th because not much was open. I don't usually eat here but I wanted a steak. I should have known better. I think it was probably the toughest steak I've ever had! Although the flavor was good, I couldn't even cut it with a knife there was so much gristle. I expect a small amount in a steak, but the entire steak was nothing but gristle. The cow must have been 100 years old! The sides were good. They advertise free chips and dip with the new Frijitas, which was missing from the order and one of the sides was missing from the 3rd meal. With the rising prices of food, and 30 bucks for a steak, it should be eatable at least. Actually, it should be great at those prices. The dogs enjoyed it as they were the only ones able to chew it. Now I understand why they are so low rated. So maybe stick with a appetizer if you eat there. Leave the steak to a steak house. TGI should be embarrassed to even serve a piece of meat that tough. I called to place an order for a large traditional wing platter among other things and I asked the girl who was taking down my order how many wings come in that platter & she put me on hold & let someone else answer the phone and I had to restart my order. It's been a while since I've been to Friday's. The menu has been pared down. The food was ok, nothing exceptional service was poor at best. When mistakes were made with our order no effort was made to correct it. We noticed that the wait staff stood around in the kitchen area.
