Bartender has no sense of time, took 15 minutes just to place an order and get a drink in an empty bar. Maybe you should hire high capacity bartenders that are good with their speed of pouring a single non mixed drink much less taking someone's order. read more

Once he took our drink and food order we didn't see him again until it was time for our ticket. The manager saw our glasses empty and had to refill them. But food was worth it. Yummy! read more

My sister and I have been going to the Texican for years, on Manchaca Road. The new Kyle location does have the same, if not a brighter atmosphere in décor, and the customer service has been very good, even though it's obvious that a lot of people came to help from Manchaca in the beginning. Having been to The Texican on Manchaca for many years, my family and I expected the same wonderful experience at the new location in Kyle. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the Manchaca location with some contemporary updates. The food and service also met our expectations. The reason for the 2-star rating is for another issue, something that could have been easily avoided with a proactive apology by our server and management but was not addressed until my I brought it to their attention. When our server took my credit card to bill us for our meals, she was gone for a longer-than-expected period of time. I noticed she went from one cashier's station to another where her manager was working. During this time, I was concerned there was an issue with my card, so I promptly logged into my bank account from my phone. I noticed a charge that was approx. $30 greater than our check amount. When our server returned, she did not mention or explain the discrepancy and politely wished us a nice day. After a few minutes, when I approached her regarding this issue, she then explained that she mistakenly billed me for another party's meal. She indicated the charge would be corrected with my bank and suggested I talk with her manager to confirm. When I approached her manager, all three, including another manager/server, explained the mistake and that it would be rectified with my bank to show the correct amount. At no time did they offer any real apology other than to say it would be taken care of. Unacceptable!!! FEEDBACK FOR TEXICAN MANAGEMENT: When you make a mistake, be proactive in apologizing and notifying your guests about what happened, what has been done to correct the issue, and what steps you will take to ensure the issue does not arise again. read more

Not good when the best you have to say is the food is fair. This restaurant is literally within a 5 minute walk of my home on the border of the Plum Creek Golf Course, so I was hoping it would be a new Mexican go to. Texican is brand new and big yet the layout somehow doesn't seem to fit the large space. The tables and area between them are dwarfed in their size making the dining area appear strange and cavernous. The waitstaff was polite, hardworking and attentive in quickly taking drink orders and explaining any questions about the menu. I ordered the beef enchiladas. The warm chips and salsa brought to the table before the main course were great and appeared to bode well for what I though would be a great meal. The enchilada plate came out swiftly. It was a Texas large entree! Piping hot, nice presentation and ready to dig into. Unfortunately the food was so standard and bland my hope for an exceptional dining experience was thwarted. My companions entrees were also big portioned but the consensus was just ok. Expensive, fair and unmemorable is not the formula for a return visit. With so many good Mexican restaurants in the Kyle area you have to stand out from the crowd to get dinners back in the door. read more

Very good. We have been way to often since the Kyle location has opened. Their food is amazing. The staff is very nice and helpful. Our favorites are the Migas with carne in it, the sour cream enchiladas, and the fajitas. The drinks are great too. read more

We stopped in on a mid-Saturday afternoon. That's usually when service is horrible and food tastes lukewarm in most restaurants. Not here, this place is FANTASTIC!! Too bad there aren't more stars. The food actually had flavor, subtle hints of seasoning along with actual tastes. The beans don't taste like they're out of a tin can. The salsa that comes to the table has flavor and spice. I can't say enough great things about the chips. The meals that we ordered were phenomenal. This is the best Mexican food that we have found in ALL of Austin's metro area. Our waitress, Veronica provided top-notch friendly, efficient service with a smile. This restaurant was mentioned, in passing, to my husband by a co-worker. He may give that guy a hug on Monday morning!!! If you're looking for a great, tasty meal with full portions this is the place to go. read more

This location is not as good at the one in Manchaca. Prices have gotten outrageous here. Definitely not worth the money. The service is horrible too. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and we couldn't get chip and drink refills. They need to bring back their daily specials! $1 taco night was the best. read more

Tonight was the third experience at the Texican in Kyle. (Love the original on Manchaca). The first was their opening weekend on Mother's day. That buffet left a lot to be desired and the wait staff was clearly untrained. It was bad. Went back last week for lunch. Everything improved 1000%. Food was great, service was impeccable. My opinion was turned around. Then came this evening. I am on the keto diet and asked to substitute veggies for the rice on my Swai Fish Oscar. The waiter checked and informed me that there would be a $3.99 charge. Really? In my experience, most places don't charge to sub in veggies. Those that do is less than $2.00 up charge. I asked to speak to the manager. She came over shortly and said, yes, there is a $3.99 up charge. She was very gruff about it. I explained that I felt that was a bit excessive, particularly on a $18 dish. Very little customer service, no smile, nothing about her posture or language have me the feeling that she wanted my business and wanted me to be a satisfied customer. She just walked away. When the waiter brought the check, he did indicate that the manager knocked $1 off the bill. Why didn't she tell me that? Why didn't she come explain the course of action she was taking to make me happy? She didn't come by at all to check on how everything turned out. So, long story short, the manager's behavior this evening will keep us from returning. Very poor customer service. read more

One of my coworkers has gone on and on.... and on about Texican cafe, so we decided to take a visit & the first thing I have to say is that it's definitely a popular place! It was pretty difficult to find parking so be prepared to park in the back possibly. Also, right when i walked in, many of the hosts were chatting to another and did not seem to have a sense of urgency when it came to assisting those that came in. I'm all for amazing customer service, so that initial impression was not good at all. Thankfully our waiter was great, so that saved the visit a bit. Now to the food! The NACHOS, y'all!!! Sooooooooo good! Wow!! And their queso was AMAZING!! I got a beef fajita chimichanga and that thing was huge and delicious, couldn't finish it!!! So yes, the food was good!! If you care, the ambience was charming, so this place would be good for a causal date... if your looking for a more romantic place, this wouldn't be my first choice, but I digress. Overall the visit was a 4/5, with the lack of customer at the beginning of my visit causing me to not make this review a 5/5. read more

First timer at Texican cafe, and lemme tell ya, I will ABSOLUTELY come back!!! Not only was their food great, but their wait staff were super friendly! I ordered the original El Paso style enchiladas with shredded chicken with the red Chile sauce and this was actually the closest I've ever come to eating enchiladas that taste like the enchiladas my sister-n-law makes (who is from El Paso) and her enchiladas are by far the best enchiladas EVER!!! Also, they have THE best chips!!! Literally everything we ordered was AmAzEbALLz. Can't wait to go back! Sorry I can't provide a picture of our dishes, we kinda dug right in as soon as it came out and totally spaced on it, but the portions they give you are very generous. The outside of the building is pretty bland, but once you step inside it's absolutely beautiful, and everything looks super clean. The best thing here (for me) is the margaritas. I have tried a few dishes, but they lacked flavor. I ordered fajitas for one, and they were bland. The meat was tender, just no flavor. The charro beans were flavorful and good. I sat by the door by the patio, and everytime someone went in ir out it slammed shut. The hinge is broken, and was not catching the door. Figured they just needed to fix it, and went back a month later and could still hear it slamming in the background. I was hoping for a good mexican food place that I could enjoy occasionally. Unfortunately Texican cafe fell short for me. I will however go back for a margarita. read more

Owner lied to us and two other couples on the wait time. The hostess said the wait time is 40-45 min. The owner said "don't say that we get them in sooner, 30 min". After an hour plus wait we left with five more tables ahead of us. Terrible. read more

Haven't been to Texican in awhile, I usually go to the Lakeline location, I was in Kyle visiting friends and we decided to go get a bite to eat. We decided to go to the new Texican...salsa, chips, and queso are always on point. I ordered the burrito especial with the queso on the side. Oh MYLANTA, it was good. I'm so disappointed. My spouse and brother-in-law are new to the area and decided to check out Texican Café. We had read some awesome things and been told to try it out so we did. The server was pretty great and attentive and the queso was pretty good. On the other hand it took about 40 minutes to receive our food. We were short on time and we asked for our items to go because of previous plans that we couldn't change. They packed her items to go and we arrived at our destinations within 10 minutes and my enchiladas were cold and The other two dishes The meet was tutor and they struggle to get through their meals. Paying $65 plus tip for an extremely long wait time and cold food was not what I was expecting. I tried to give Texican Café a call but your phone was off the hook. read more
