My Dr recently retired so decided to look for a new Dr close to work, and home. This place is convenient to both my home, and work. The ladies upfront were inviting, and pleasant. They welcomed me, and asked me to fill out my new patient paper work. When I was done, and went back to the front counter there was a lady that I believe is the Office Mgr, I could barely understand her, but she made it seem as if this photo option that was not covered by my insurance was not an option, so I agreed to it, she said "okay only $39 more". So then I was called back by Sharron, which further explained the photo option that was not covered by my insurance. I decided that I did not need, so I opted out of doing it, she said fine but you should consider it next time, and explained the benefits, I said I sure will. Then here comes the Office Mgr saying "he's doing it!" I said no I'll consider it next time. That was sorta awkward, how she was trying to up sell this option. But Sharron was the super star that made me super comfortable. Dr. Chen is extremely personable, and knowledgeable of his craft, he explained all my options, and gave his recommendations. The doctor is very nice and down to earth as well as informative but I was very disappointed in how they make you pay an annual photograph of your eyes for $39. This was not communicated to me over the phone when I made my appointment. Had I known, I would not have gone there since this fee is not covered by insurances. They up sell and act like you don't have a choice but pay for it. You do have a choice. Go over the order and question. The quality of eyeglasses has gone to crap no doubt. They could be a little more approachable. I stopped asking questions because they had this attitude. I don't pay that much for glasses to feel stupid. read more

I was a patient at the Greenspoint location since I was a teenager. I decided to give the Fall Creek location a chance recently since it's in our neighborhood and my husband had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Chen. Saturday appointments at this location are hard to come by and we had to wait a month before we could go in, but that is totally understandable for any healthcare establishment with weekend hours. You have the option to get placed on their short call list if there is any last minute availability sooner than your scheduled appointment. Major plus! I was seen by Dr. Leung during my visit and was very pleased. She is extremely personable and has great bedside manner. All of their technicians are extremely helpful as well. Dr. Chen and his staff are the greatest people I've ever encountered when trying to get glass and contacts! Professional, friendly, and perfect are just a few words to describe my experience with getting an eye exam, ordering contact, and getting some lens in frames I bought elsewhere! My boyfriend was in a terrible car accident and his glasses disappeared. I took him in at 11am on a Saturday and he got an eye exam and glasses in 2 hours! The glasses were perfect and his vision was great with them that he didn't have to go back for a follow up! Hands down the best eye doctor office I have ever been too. Dr. Alexander Chen is thorough and goes out of his way to make sure he provides the best quality eye care for his clients. I have been impressed by his efforts to help my oldest with an eye injury, and she's doing great! You those staff were super friendly. A very thorough assessment was performed on my eyes to determine peripheral vision, prescription, and dilation. With dilation my eye was looked at from all angles to ensure eyeball health and and note any variances in my prescription. I've required glasses my entire life but not very compliant because of the weight of my lenses caused tension headaches if worn too long. My eyesight is very poor. They listened to my concerns and helped my find a lens that would eliminate the problem. Even offered to divide my payment in half so that I would not have to compromise on lens or frames. The customer service of this establishment is amazing. From the the point of making an eye appointment to leaving this business. I've seen about 4-5 optometrists in my lifetime, and none of the previous ones have ever been as detail-oriented, customer-focused, and genuinely concerned about the patient's overall well-being. I've lived in many states (Southern CA, TX, VA, NJ, Northern CA, and then back to TX) and have had experiences with many different doctors, and Dr. Chen is by far the best. He is patient, kind, warm, friendly and honest. Not only is he a great doctor for adult patients, but he is fantastic with kids. He won't put you into something just to make a buck either, he actively looks out for his patients well-being. He spotted a suspicious mark on my eye, that no other doctor has seen, using his up-to-date technology. But that doesn't mean he's reliant on his technology, he can work just fine without it as well, as he demonstrated with my younger daughter who was a bit too young to understand how eye appointments usually work. His prices are very fair and his schedule is open and easy to be booked. Office is clean and staff is friendly. My whole family goes to this practice. read more

I was drawn here because of the price I was given over the phone. once in the chair I was told there would be additional charges, then at check out ,they gave yet additional charges. I saw Dr. Chen about a year ago and am saddened that I have moved out of state and have to find a new Optometrist. After seeing five other eye doctors with issues I was having with my eyes and being misdiagnosed with dry eye or a need for reading glasses by all of them, Dr. Chen actually listened and picked out something I stated as a symptom as not being normal, a symptom all the other doctors glazed over without a second thought. They had tried to look at my symptoms and make them fit into the mold of the common eye problems they saw in their practices. He however did not. He looked at me and my symptoms as an individual, and realized that my symptoms were not typical. He sent me to a Neuro-opthamologist at Houston Methodist and I was finally able to figure out what was causing my eyes so much grief! If it weren't for Dr. Chen I would possibly still be trying to figure out what was wrong with my eyes. I can not say enough great things about Dr. Chen and his staff! He saw my mom as a walk-in patient when she injured her eye. I called after work and they worked us in at 5:00 on a Friday evening. His staff was so sweet and comforting from the initial phone call to the time we left the appointment. My mom loved Dr. Chen, he got her out of pain immediately. He is incredibly caring and empathetic. He even texted her the next day to check up on her. He has great clinical skills and an incredible bedside manner. My mom was very impressed with his assessment and diagnostic skills. Plus, he is so funny and has the best personality. He truly cares about his patients and is a true asset to his field.
