Ambience- zero: This place was painfully loud, and when I say painfully - I mean it!l. My Apple Watch was spiking 94 decibel level and sitting consistently between 74-82. This is hearing damage level, folks! Service was awful. I ordered a margarita rocks, NO SALT. She brought it WITH salt. When I (finally) flagged her down she acted irked and argued that I ordered WITH salt. (Ummm no - but I will give her benefit of doubt because maybe she didn't hear me because it was so loud) They use germ laden self-pay ziosks because hey! Tip minimum of 20% for poor service quality and naturally we were charged for food we didn't order - two people and a $180 bill? No way. I ordered a $15.99 meal and so did my dinner companion and we each had just one drink and no extras. Once again, it took time to get any server to notice and resolve issue - no apology, just annoyance. I think they're annoyed because it's a SCAM and if you pay more without catching the error they get a bigger tip- funny they brought us the right meals then tried to charge us for Dallas ribeye and a large filet dinner and multiple drinks IN ADDITION to my $15.99 sirloin meal and his single pork chop meals. And you charge extra for butter for a sweet potato - talk about nickel and diming dining. Ugh! The FOOD was good and that is the only reason this review gets 2 stars instead of one. My medium rare sirloin steak was perfect - better than you should expect from a chain steakhouse - and my dinner companion liked his chop. Sides and side salads were generous and fresh. Still, I likely won't be back without noise cancelling earbuds and more patience though. I remain incensed with ziosks in general but even more so when I feel intentionally SCAMMED. (In this case, I think the manager should have apologized instead of continuing to chat up the hostess at the hostess stand, but hey! That's me. I'm just the customer after all... Be forewarned - they will probably be rude and overcharge you because I think it's SOP. Check your bill before you do part of their service job and pay by ziosk. read more

We received subpar customer service during our recent visit to Texas Roadhouse Restaurant in Rapid City SD. Wait staff seemed preoccupied, distracted, disoriented and unfamiliar with the products on the menu. The kitchen employees failed to prepare the food as ordered. The steak was ordered medium however, it arrived well done. The baked potato wasn't fully baked and was cold. The bread was warm and flavorful. We waited longer than normal to receive our food. The side portion size was ok, the quality of the food was not. The steak lacked taste as did the potato. Again, the bread was very good and flavorful. Overall customer service and food quality rating is a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Without food improvements I would not recommend this restaurant. Lots of potential to improve IF management/leadership can keep employees focused on what's important. read more

The atmosphere is good as this restaurant is very popular all over the country. Our server was excellent. Shirley took really good care of us. Regarding the food, beef cuts are good, but the quality of sides is not very good. Veggies taste like frozen vegetables that were warmed up in the microwave and mashed potatoes remind you of a box mix. I've visited TR when having dinner with a group and it works great. A red headed woman with a long braid was being spoken to about her hours by a woman with a red hat on...... how do I know this you may ask? Chicken was severely under cooked. I ordered the herb crusted chicken and was about halfway through when I cut into a great big pink piece. I let the waiter know and he said yes they had had complaints all day that the chicken had been rubbery. Never took it off my bill only comped $10 off the bill instead of the whole meal of chicken. Was on vacation in Rapid City and wanted to try Texas roadhouse, (Wife) and I have never had it. The food was great, but we made the whole experience even better was our server Weston, he was incredible. Went here for my daughter's birthday on 3/12. Our server Kevin was quite possibly the best server we have ever had at any restaurant. He provided anything needed (refills, extra napkins, rolls etc) very quickly. He also recognized our 2yr old grandson who has anxiety issues get very nervous when the crew sang happy birthday at another table. He asked if we wanted them to sing at our table or not. We were seated in the bar area, which was fine and our server was Pardo. Everything was very good, service was good and attentive, and my husband asked for extra rolls, and they even boxed up the leftovers for us. This review is for the Rapid City SD Texas Roadhouse. This location is like a well oiled machine. The team work, service and interaction with between the team members is inspiring. My wife and I ate here on the evening of 10-6-25. The way they organize patrons waiting for tables is something I have never seen before. It gave us a warm fuzzy feeling that we were important to get us seated in the most timely manner. The team member who seated us was dressed (professional looking costume) as a pirate and was very cordial. NICE TOUCH! Our server, Tori was no less cordial and helpful! The food quality was consistent with other Texas Roadhouse's that deemed consistency is an important quality when it comes to food and service. Other team members chipped in to serve specific dishes, clean up used dishes, etc. I was truly inspired (never had this group effort feeling like this at any restaurant) seeing the camaraderie between the team members! We walked in typical Texas Roadhouse the buns and butter are amazing soft and warm. Then our waitress came and she was AWFUL!!!! It wasn't busy at all either. We ordered right away and then it took 45mins to get our AWFUL cold food!!! Our waitress never came to check on us she was dense. The manager came and talked to us and took 30.09 off our bill. 0 tip!!! People that came in 15-20 after us got their food before we did. Go to longhorn steak house or McDonalds is better. First time trying this place out and it was a hit. Took a quick vacation to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore and my friend and I have never been so we went. The service was really great from our direct waiter. The hostess wasn't as friendly. She actually tried to squeezed us between 2 tables of large groups and there were plenty of empty tables and booths in the same area. So of course I spoke up and asked her if she could sit us literally anywhere else beside 2 large parties. 6 people at each table on either side and a smaller 4 person table between them that she wanted to sit at. But like I said our waiter was AMAZING! He recommended great choices with the ribs and bbq chicken. Which we ended up ordering and the onion blossom! So damn good! Ribs 4/5 stars tender and full of flavor. Fall off the bone. BBQ Chicken 4/5 Juicy, tasty bbq sauce, tender. Steak 3/5 stars cooked to our liking (medium-well done) seasoning on the steak was good. Service was amazing but if you've ever eaten at an Applebees or the like then you already know what this restaurant is like. Margaritas have Minute Maid brand lemonade and the like in them. Sauteed mushrooms are rubbery and definitely not cooked in any butter. The green beans are preboiled frozen with a slightly canned taste. The ribs are tender but only have a sickenly sweet sauce and no real special taste to them. My favorite part were the mashed potatoes with gravy because at least they weren't instant. Hi! Just a quick review- there is no need to review the food or service because we frequent them maybe once a month and the food, service and atmosphere is always top notch. However, a MAJOR KUDOS goes out to Patrick, the owner, and Jen, the manager, who saved our wedding reception with approximately 6 days prior to our wedding when the original caterer Maple Street BBQ, disappeared into thin air (see my review of them and their incompetent owner, John Miller, under the Maple Street BBQ reviews). Jen personally catered our local venue with food and appetizers for our 30 guests. She was on time, super friendly, and the food was hot & awesome as always. It was exactly what we'd expect from a business but even better since it was a last minute request and Texas Roadhouse could have easily (and for good reason, especially being Labor Day weekend) been unable to help us. I normally like coming here but this time I was a tad bit disappointed. I'm used to stopping at the front counter, hearing about the different cuts of steak and choosing what I want. They didn't offer that service. Our server was ok, I truly HATE for servers to sweep in the area where I'm eating . I know might sound weird but that's a pet peeve of mine. Wait until your area is clear or sweep before someone is seated. The food, well it was ok. A little under seasoned and over cooked. I like my steaks medium rare, I got a medium cooked steak. I don't like to return food, (I worked in the food industry for 15 years) I know what some cooks even servers will do to your food.
