Nice place for it being attached to a hotel. They were running a Valentine's Day Special. We started with the salad bar. It was amazing and I should have just stopped there, but I've never had Walleye before so I had to get that. My Potato Walleye was perfectly cooked and seasoned, but there were some bones in it that I had to dig out. My husband's Tatanka Filet was nice and tender. We ended with the Butterscotch Marshmallow Bread Pudding. My husband likes coffee with his desserts so he ordered an Irish coffee, but it was an Irish Car Bomb and not just a hot Coffee with alcohol. It was a nice dinner. I even got a rose for Valentine's Day.

There are several Minerva restaurants in South Dakota, and I have eaten at the Yankton as well as the Sioux Falls location but never went to the Rapid City location until now. It's larger than expected with seating. The service was good, and the food was decent but not fantastic. I ordered the chicken pasta since steak was not on my palate. It was what I expected, and it was a safe dish to order. Parking is tricky since its connected to the hotel next door. There was no wait and I would return if given the opportunity to find a place to eat at the last minute.

Great food. The salad bar was about the freshest I have ever seen, the ribeye was outstanding!

We were staying at the Best Western attached to Minerva's in Rapid City. We ate there for a few meals... we found the food, service and ambiance all to be excellent! I wasn't expecting it to be so nice or the food to be as great as it was.... I had their Salmon one evening that was cooked perfectly on a bed of rice pilaf with vegetables cooked to perfection. My BF had Medallions of Pork cooked in an outstanding Marsala sauce over the freshest smoothest whipped potatoes. The service was terrific and a trip to the salad bar did not disappoint.

Minervas is a solid hotel restaurant serving Rapid City, SD. This very large restaurant is reminiscent of restaurants I visited as a child when we went out to a nice meal. It is located in the Best Western conference center next to the mall and Interstate 90. Parking is generous, but shared with the hotel. I found Minervas because they have walleye on the menu. There was no problem finding a table early on a weeknight, so I was seated immediately and opted for the salad bar. The salad bar is old school with basic salad ingredients, pasta and fruit salads, and soup. It was decent and worth the upgrade, but it would not make for a full meal. I paired the walleye with a nice glass of wine from their good wine list. The walleye was delicious, prepared well and served with a nice sauce. I was glad they had this fish on the menu and more impressed that they prepared it in a way to showcase the delicate flavor. Service was quick and friendly even as the place filled up with the after work crowd. They also have a large bar with old school video lottery machines too! If you are looking for a classic upscale casual dining experience, Minervas is a good option in Rapid City. This place is perfect for a business lunch or introducing your girlfriend to your parents.

    Yummy chicken almond pasta plate!

We passed thru last week on our return to WA from holidays in WI. What a great surprise this place was! It totally fit the bill for relaxing after a long day's drive. Very comfortable place and excellent service. A really spectacular salad bar with good soups is a plus. The menu has a variety for any budget really, tho we splurged with wine and dessert and even a Baileys Irish coffee at the end. We will be back next trip passing thru for sure.

Cajun sirloin tips! Yum! Forgot to take a photo before I stated. Delicious!

We started our evening at Sear Steakhouse with some excellent drinks. The thyme mocktail was crisp…read moreand refreshing, and my husband's old-fashioned was fragrant and well-balanced, complete with a perfect bada bing cherry. His only note was a preference for a single large ice cube rather than crushed, but overall the bar clearly knows what it's doing. The appetizers set a great tone. Warm sourdough was fresh and comforting. I enjoyed the bright, crisp house salad, while my husband's pumpkin soup was silky, savory, and perfectly seasonal. We both ordered the 7-ounce filet mignon, and the kitchen truly delivered! His medium-rare was tender and juicy with a beautiful sear, and my medium-well was still succulent--proof of precise cooking. They have an outstanding variety of cool, reasonably priced side dishes. My husband was excited about the Queen's honey carrots which were tender and flavorful (though the honey glaze was very subtle) and the creamy mashed potatoes that are part of the steak dish, were nicely executed. I didn't realize my filet came with mashed potatoes underneath, so I ordered a loaded, baked potato as my side, and ended up with extra potato (which I'm not complaining about whatsoever lol). We also enjoyed the whiskey cream sauce with mushrooms, which added a gentle smoky creamy richness, and the onion soubise, which was pure sweet comfort. Dessert was a highlight, as we celebrated my husband's birthday - we ordered all three featured desserts: The crème brûlée had a perfectly crackled top and smooth vanilla bean custard, the flourless chocolate dessert was deeply rich with espresso notes, and the butter cake was the total star - warm, moist, and decadently buttery. Each dessert was excellent in its own way, but that perfectly sinful butter cake stole the show! The atmosphere was inviting--warm wood tones, comfortable booths, well-balanced lighting, and enough TVs near the bar to keep my sports fan husband happy. Service was friendly and pleasant, though we found ourselves wishing for a bit more attentiveness. With a very quiet dining room, very early in the evening (we had a 4 PM reservation), there were moments when water refills lagged and opportunities for wine suggestions went unoffered (and we were definitely wanting to order some red with our steaks, but gave up because by the time there was an opportunity, we were finished with our steaks). We also briefly looked into the small private dining room on our way through the bar, and while we were greeted politely by one of the employees who was sitting in there, it felt like they missed the perfect opportunity to highlight the space for potential events. That said, nothing detracted significantly from the experience--it was simply a matter of polish. A touch more proactive engagement could elevate an already strong offering into something exceptional. Overall, Sear Steakhouse delivered an enjoyable and memorable evening. The food, drinks, and desserts are clearly strengths, and with just a little added focus on service flow and guest engagement, this restaurant has all the makings of a true standout in Rapid City. We look forward to returning and trying new things!

I'm really torn on this review because I've only been to Sear Steakhouse twice, and the experiences…read morewere completely different. The first visit was for a work event in the back room (not sure if that made a difference), and it was outstanding. The food was cooked to perfection--my steak literally melted in my mouth, and the sides were hot and delicious. I couldn't stop raving about it afterward. The second visit, after talking it up to my family, was a letdown. They were busy, and maybe that played a role, but it just wasn't the same. My steak was mediocre, and my husband was genuinely confused why I had claimed it was one of the best steaks I'd had in a long time. Unfortunately, when it comes to restaurants, the bad tends to outweigh the good. We haven't been back, and I can't justify the price tag when there are other great steak options in town. I know places can have off days, and maybe that's what happened--but I'm not willing to return to find out.

This is hearing damage level, folks! Service was awful. I ordered a margarita rocks, NO SALT. She brought it WITH salt. When I (finally) flagged her down she acted irked and argued that I ordered WITH salt. (Ummm no - but I will give her benefit of doubt because maybe she didn't hear me because it was so loud) They use germ laden self-pay ziosks because hey! Tip minimum of 20% for poor service quality and naturally we were charged for food we didn't order - two people and a $180 bill? No way. I ordered a $15.99 meal and so did my dinner companion and we each had just one drink and no extras. Once again, it took time to get any server to notice and resolve issue - no apology, just annoyance. I think they're annoyed because it's a SCAM and if you pay more without catching the error they get a bigger tip- funny they brought us the right meals then tried to charge us for Dallas ribeye and a large filet dinner and multiple drinks IN ADDITION to my $15.99 sirloin meal and his single pork chop meals. And you charge extra for butter for a sweet potato - talk about nickel and diming dining. Ugh! The FOOD was good and that is the only reason this review gets 2 stars instead of one. My medium rare sirloin steak was perfect - better than you should expect from a chain steakhouse - and my dinner companion liked his chop. Sides and side salads were generous and fresh. Still, I likely won't be back without noise cancelling earbuds and more patience though. I remain incensed with ziosks in general but even more so when I feel intentionally SCAMMED. (In this case, I think the manager should have apologized instead of continuing to chat up the hostess at the hostess stand, but hey! That's me. I'm just the customer after all... Be forewarned - they will probably be rude and overcharge you because I think it's SOP. Check your bill before you do part of their service job and pay by ziosk.
