We came here while visiting Rapid City as their menu looked good! We thought about sitting outside as it was a lovely evening, but there were other people waiting for tables to be cleaned outside. We went inside and while there were tables available, many were still dirty and stayed that way during the duration of our meal. Not a great look for the restaurant. We started the fancy fried pickles and chislic. The fried pickles were different with the prosciutto and mozzarella cheese, but we still enjoyed them. The chislic was tough/chewy and not as good as Thirsty's next door. My husband and I split the buffalo meatloaf. The meatloaf was dry, but I enjoyed the overall flavor. Overall, I was not impressed with this restaurant and was disappointed with service and how the meals were cooked at Murphy's. We just had better food during our trip, so it's hard to recommend this one. read more

I have been in the service industry for over 10 years and have never had a worse experience. The restaurant was empty, and yet our food took over 30+ min to get out, drink refills were non-existent, and our server was just rude. Decent amount of filling. Main complaint is that it is billed w Reuben filling but very little corned beef -- a few diced pieces and some halves seemed to have none. For wings you get 8 traditional or 19 bonus per order. I got the traditional with watermelon jalapeño wet sauce. You get 8 nice plump drums and the sauce is sticky and sweet but not too sweet and spicy but not too spicy. Cant really detect a distinct watermelon flavor. Still good. read more

Hubby and I came here for our anniversary after seeing a couple of you tube videos that recommended it. First the booth they put us in had terrible seats. You sat down and went into a hole or springs sticking up. Hubby ordered fish and chips and I ordered Chislic for my entree. Both were very good. Also ordered the carrot cake which was delicious but looked like half of it was missing. Customer service was extremely slow and we were kind of in a hurry. Wonderful place! The three of us stopped in last Sunday to have lunch. For appetizers we tried the Chislic, our fist time trying this local dish and it was pretty yummy. Tender pieces of beef served with two different sauces. My wife ordered the steak salad which looked more like an entire meal in a plate than just a salad with steak on it. There were potato's and tomatoes and everything else on this delicious salad. The steak was juicy and tender. Our daughter had the delicious salmon salad and loved it! Nice fresh greens with a perfectly cooked piece of juicy salmon on top. I had the Caesar Sakad and it was very tasty! Fresh greens with a nice tangy Caesar dressing. So yummy! The service was wonderful always checking in on us. The ambiance is a restaurant rather than a pub. So nicely decorated and very spacious indoors. Great place to go to! read more

A group of us went here for dinner after our event in the area, and this was the best choice we made hands-down! The spot was further down Main Street, but it was worth a walk. Inside has a nice rustic pub feel. There were television screens around, but not too distracting if you are not interested in watching TV. My group ordered drinks and we all loved what we got. Everything that we had was delicious! I personally had the mango chicken, which was different but really good. The folks who got the hummus plate and the wings really enjoyed it and were full from those app items. The service was good overall, though our server was a little slow and getting us some of the items we needed. went to Murphy's for lunch yesterday with a friend of mine. the food and the service were ok but when I got the check, lunch was my treat, I noticed a $3 service charge to use my credit card, WTF!! this is insane, the small transaction fee the credit card company charges businesses is the cost of doing business. This is not something that should be passed on to the customers. I just want to give a big red flag warning to potential customers of Murphy's, if you pay with a credit card, be prepared to pay an additional fee. Stopped in for happy hour. The drink menu had no prices, so we asked our waitress--clearly not her first day--who suddenly acted like she'd never seen the menu before. After some theatrical scrolling on her phone, she confidently told us the happy hour price for a glass of house wine (advertised as "half off") was $6. She allowed us just the right amount of time to have our cocktail and appetizer before coming back to take our dinner order! She was so nice. She shared tidbits about the town and the tourist season. Great place to eat downtown Rapid City. I was surprised at the size of this location. With a large bar in the middle of the room surrounded by tables and booths, along with outdoor seating. The bar had a large selection of craft beers. There was an nice menu which made choosing difficult. We went with fish and chips and a grilled reuben. I would recommend both as they were very good. I love this place. Stumbled upon this bar after a local recommended that I visit for great service, fresh food, and a wide selection of beer -- all of which I easily found while seated at the bar alone. The bartenders are happy and don't hesitate offering several beers to try as you make your selection. Their menu is expensive and includes healthy options, including Portabella mushroom wrap and pig salads, coupled with different protein options. They have a number of beers on tap from local breweries and contain plenty of tables both inside and out with an external bar to improve your overall experience. I ordered the portobello vegetarian wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries came with a house-made garlic butter dipping sauce that easily clogs the coronary arteries but still well worth it. Recommend for a great casual dinner with lots of great food & drink choices! Prices were fair, service was great, place was very big & lots of seating, (outdoor seating too I believe) & place was decently clean. Food came out quick, and was delicious! I asked where the chips were and I was told that was considered a side. I said it wasn't listed that way on the menu. THe waitress said that is how it was. So I felt it was a scam. I was torn between the Buffalo meatloaf and the fish and chips. I ended up with the fish and chips and honestly it was horrible and I feel bad leaving this review. I was looking up locally owned businesses to find a place to have dinner with relatives and Murphy's Pub and Grill was presented in my internet search. We had dinner there last evening and I was totally impressed. The business, on the corner of 9th and Main St in the heart of Rapid City, does not look as big from the outside as it really is. The rustic architecture and furnishings are almost eloquent. The high ceiling and open design is beautiful. We each ordered something different and everything was amazing. Bison Meatloaf, hand battered fish, chicken wings with a Caesar salad and prime rib sandwich each were just excellent. Pricing is in line with entrees elsewhere but the quantity of foot and its presentation was perfect. We had a great evening, we will be back and I applaud this locally owned business for helping make Rapid City complete in its options for dining. read more
