I travel quite a bit for business, and where ever I go, I always check to see if a Texas Roadhouse is close to my hotel. Why? Well, my family and I eat at a Texas Roadhouse close to where we live in the DFW area, and we like the food, atmosphere, and service. I like visiting locations that are consistent, and for the most part, almost all Texas Roadhouse locations from TX, PA, KY, OH, and MI are the same. Same quality, service, food, atmosphere, and experience. I am a creature of habit. I order the same meal at every Texas Roadhouse location. I used to get the 11 oz sirloin, but switched to 8 oz, so I can order another beer and not feel guilty...lol. 8oz sirloin, medium rare, with mushrooms, and cheese, and two cups of chili, with cheese, no onion, and a side of jalapenos. When I travel for business, I sit at the bar, get to watch a game, and order a nice ice cold Miler Lite (This night, no Miller Lite, so hello Bud light). The steak was cooked perfectly, and tender. The chili was delicious, and the bartenders were fantastic. I quit eating the rolls, not because they are bad, it's because they are delicious, and when you put the greatest butter ever invented on them, I could and would eat way to many. Very disappointing service from the moment we walked in. We joined the waitlist and were initially told the wait would be about 15 minutes. After checking in, we were told it would actually be 45 minutes to an hour. We understood that it was a busy Friday, so we waited patiently. While waiting, the hosts were eating and drinking while slouched over the check-in area, which came across as very unprofessional and did not give a good first impression. When we were finally called, we were asked if it was okay to add a seat to the edge of a table because there were five of us. That didn't make much sense, especially when we noticed another group of four being seated at a table that could accommodate six. I spoke up, and thankfully another waitress offered to move us to a larger table, which we accepted. I completely understand that Fridays can be extremely busy, but the hostess team could have handled the situation much better. Better communication, professionalism, and attention to seating arrangements would have made a big difference in our experience. read more

Disappointed in prime rib. I ordered it medium rare and I came well done. It was redone and it came back medium and dry.

Needed to order three meals to go. Came in right at 3 when they opened. The hosted had one of the girls to come over to take my order. It went smoothly but I think it would be best to order online. Our order came out within 20 minutes. Everything was included, all the sauces, butter, rolls and silverware. The only thing I had to ask for was a couple of bags of peanuts. Two of us ordered the chicken critter meal with salad and potato. It was definitely enough to share or have leftovers for another day. I did find out that the early dining specials are not good for to-go orders. We needed to get it to-go as my mom was in a nearby rehab facility healing from a broken hip. When I was trying to eat at the Brownsville location when the power went out, I decided to come to this location which was a MASSIVE mistake. The wait took 3 HOURS for a restaurant that wasn't even packed with most people just having an attitude to other customers. When we finally got sat down, the place was out of most of the menu for the kids, and the food felt really disgusting. The atmosphere was loud, and although the building was next to several other places with nice scenery, this inside of this place was crazy. I will never and EVER come back again!! read more

HUGE SHOUTOUT FOR EMPLOYEE ROCKY! My MIL is handicapped and we had to let her off so we could park before going into the restaurant. She was having trouble getting to the seating area because of the higher step and he rushed over and helped her. Not only did he do that but she sat at the front while we got the car and he came out and helped her all the way back in the car. Well, My first clue it was going to turn around was the Receptionist friends 1st sharing comments and Customer 2nd. My second clue was my table escort talking about if I was going to order appetizers as we were walking....... I am aware that it's always Loud at this place!! Always!! But am bothered that She's trying to place an Order before I have sat down. My hopes were high When My waitress showed up promptly and I placed my order!! I have ate here over 75 times. They have never messed up anything I've ever ordered from them. My order is has been the same thing for the past 5 years. I never order anything different from this place or any other trh. 16 oz. Sirloin cooked medium, sometimes medium rare, with a fully loaded baked potatoe and a ceasr. Their season dressing is exceptional don't know if they use a special recipe or if its something a chain restraint does but its very unique. And their steaks are exceptional. They make it perfect each time just the way you ask and if it isn't up to your liking the will prepare another one so you really can't ever lose. I waited an hour and thirty minutes for my food to arrive but I guess that was too be expected because of how busy the location was. The service was really good and the waiters offered me refills during the wait. When the food came out, I was sort of disappointed with the macaroni. It's usually a red flag for me whenever a restaurant states that "x" food is homemade especially when it's usually an item catered to children so I wasn't expecting that much, but when the macaroni came out, it really did seem like it came out of a craft box of mac and cheese and was microwaved. My pulled pork sandwich was good despite being a little cold and the bread was soft to bite into and overall very delicious. The restaurant was pretty noisy (it was packed after all) and I didn't like the lighting too much but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the food that much. Way overcrowded!! Too loud and way tooo loud on birthday celebrations with servers screaming their lungs out. Food takes a long time to prepare once ordered and do hope they don't get your order wrong. Waiter too busy celebrating birthdays on other tables so expect more delays there as well. Oh! Visited this TR location yesterday for lunch with my family. We arrived around 12:30 pm, and there was quite a crowd. Luckily, we didn't have to wait because they have plenty of seating. As soon as we sat down, the waitress brought out a pail of peanuts and a basket of fresh bread. Both were great to have as an appetizer (since we didn't order any others) as we listened to their country music playlist. For my entree, I ordered the 12oz Ribeye, with a Caesar Salad and Mushrooms as my two sides ($12.99). For the price, I was impressed. Couldn't believe how bad the food was. They have always been decent. I had a prime rib that seemed it had been reheated more than once. The meat had the texture of beef Jerky. It sat in a pool of very salty au jus. It was very dry and over cooked.I can't believe they would actually serve this. Did I mentioned we waited an hour to be seated. My family and I ear here fairly regularly. This location has consistently good service. We've never had a problem or issue here. I am fairly certain that you can't beat their prices vs quality on the steaks. The rolls are great, the salads are great. My kids eat from the children's menu without a problem. In Harlingen is difficult to find a restaurant that consistently performs at or above the industry standards. This location does that. One of the best feature is call ahead seating. Lacks what roadhouse is all about. Service. Food was decent but other locations have fresher steaks. No silverware or plates with our appetizers and when the food came out the server apologized for the lack of silverware. No peanuts at the table to snack on either. The manager came by to give one our parties a welcome bag with peanuts and a coupon since it was his first time and that's when I mentioned the silverware and lack of peanuts and no cloth napkins to put on your lap. I was given a stack of cocktail napkins and no apologies from the management for anything. It seems like you still pay full price for half the service and half the amenities.
