This is our second or third visit to Tejano Grill and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. We ordered a mixture of TexMex, BBQ, a chicken sandwich and seafood between the four of us. Everyone seemed to like what they ordered. My Two Meat BBQ Plate had brisket slices and some smoked turkey breast. The turkey was a little dry but had good flavor and there was a lot of it. The brisket was nice and moist but unfortunately two slices were sliced incorrectly WITH the grain instead of across the grain. This made them tougher than they should have been. Kind of a rookie mistake. But the flavor was good. The grandson's spicy fried flounder was very good. He loved it! The spicy Chicken sandwich was excellent and shared between two of our party. Overall the food was good and the service was very good. The place wasn't busy because it was midafternoon which was nice since it's usually packed on the weekends. We definitely will return when we travel to Harlingen to pick up visitors at the airport. read more

As close to the Boarder as you can get with Mexico and this is some of the most disappointing Mexican (Tex-Mex) I have ever had. First, of course, the chips and salsa. The chips were hard as rocks and had zero salt. Seriously NO SALT. They felt like they had been made the day before. The salsa was underwhelming. I was hoping the food would redeem the chips and salsa but they did not. I got 2 cheese enchiladas, a taco and a chalupa. The taco shell Was stale. I dumped the meat out (that's all that was in the shell) onto the chalupa hoping to add some flavor. None! The ground beef was bland. No seasoning- just regular cooked ground beef. Mi took one bite of my chalupa- lettuce and what tasted like baby food beans. The cheese enchiladas had a lot Of cheese melted on them and very little in them. Tasted like melted cheese in a flour tortilla. My husband had the spicy flounder. It came with 2 nice portions of flounder, cooked very well, however once again, it lacked flavor. I thought since it said spicy at least it would have some seasonings but my husband had to have the tartar sauce and ketchup to eat it. The food was very reasonably priced. Had the taste been there I would have recommended it. Nice little restaurant if you are sensitive to spices this might be the place for you. However as native Texicans, we expect our food to have at least salt and pepper. Wait staff was attentive and professional. We had ordered a baked potato go for our son before we got our food. I'm hoping I can update this post, but not holding my breath. read more

Went to eat here at 7 P.M. on a Saturday, which surprisingly wasn't too busy. Was seated immediately and the server was friendly. Ordered the beef fajitas, the people I was with ordered the street tacos and Moe's supreme, and everyone was satisfied with the food, although I think everything was priced slightly too high. I was suggested this spot by a local. It turned out to be pretty good. There was a lot of people coming through so it must be very popular. We seated quickly and our server was extremely nice. She got to us right away and our food came fast. My food was delicious and had a lot of flavor. My drink was really good. I'm not sure how much alcohol was in it because I didn't taste any and I definitely didn't get a buzz. It was still very tasty. Right into it the wait for our food was long about 45 minutes and the only thing that was hot was the Philly Cheesesteak. The ambiance is loud but normal the service quick to sit down but the wait for food and food was not the best . After a 45 min wait for food you'd think everything was hot but no unfortunately had to send plate back to the microwave our waiter didn't know why our food was cold , the Philly was delicious though I recommend that . read more

Waiters & waitresses are very good. Food is mediocre not bad but not great. Usually the same specials. However once in awhile they will have something good but then they don't bring it back. Don't bother asking for the managers first name only they don't do that here, when you ask for manager who oversees the entire restaurant again don't bother they don't provide name at all and verbatim per nameless manager for fear of retaliation from customers that this directive was given by the owners/main manager. The food was good. We had the parillada (sp?) which comes with a little of this and that. Service was courteous and I felt well attended. Prices were reasonable but large portions. Two of us split one dish and didn't finish everything. Chicken was excellent, fajitas were good but felt as though maybe it was a different cut of meat. The rib was good. Sausage was very plain and deserves to be upgraded to keep up with the rest of the selection. Charro beans were tasty but undercooked. Beans were still a little crunchy. Overall food was good plus. These guys are supposed to be known for their briske, however, it's awful. This is the third time, and last, trying the brisket thinking it was an off day in the past. We requested the brisket moist and the first plate was delivered hard and dry. Sent it back and it seems like the same brisket was sprayed with water and re-served. We asked to speak to a manager and was approached by two separate staff about what we wanted. When the manager finally came to the table he seemed to be put out and unapologetic. My favorite thing is the Lonchesitos Combo. Mmm.... I dream about those flavors and usually will order this when I come in. It's often listen under the "Today's Specials" menu. I also really enjoy their breakfast tacos. They are really good. If you order the breakfast tacos, unless you want something gigantic that you probably can't finish in one sitting, I would recommend the regular or small size breakfast taco. We don't usually go out to eat, but, we get food delivered occasionally. Tejano Grill is one of the places we love to send an order to! Our favorite is the Tejano Grill plate-consisting of rice, beans, enchiladas and two incredible tacos! The servings are large and very filling. Once the order is called in, it takes about 20 minutes and we hit the drive through. The personnel are always cheerful and helpful. We ordered a botana for 4 when my daughters came to town for a visit and everything that was included in the botana was absolutely fantastic. I have eaten at the establishment twice and the service was always top drawer and the dining area was clean and comfortable. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for great food, pleasant servers and clean atmosphere. read more

We stopped into this place on our way down to Brownsville based on a yelp recommendation from a previous reviewer. She said that a local had recommended this place to her, so that sounded good to us. We were glad we did. The food was really good. I worried at first when our server couldn't tell us if the dish I ordered had red or green enchilada sauce on it he just said it had enchilada sauce, but not green or red. It was actually like a spicy chili broth (not what you put on hot dogs if a bowl) sauce is how I would call it. I guess in this part of the state they call it enchilada sauce but to me it was just like a chili sauce/broth. It came over the steak. I had the bisteak special with rice and beans, my husband had a burrito with a Chalupa. They both were very good. Our server was good though he was very busy with a large group. The green sauce that comes for their chips is fantastic if you like spice. The restaurant atmosphere was nice and clean.
