The worst New York Strip I've ever had. Over-cooked and completely tasteless. First, after 45 min., the server brought out half my meal (hash brown casserole wasn't ready) w/my steak over-done. I ordered the fried chicken mashed potatoes and carrots. The fried chicken look like it had sat for at least a day and was all dried out. The mashed potatoes were actually cold like refrigerator cold, and hadn't even been heated , the carrots were lukewarm The waitress brought me back hot vegetables. Then I sent the chicken back and they brought me out a different type of chicken breast instead of the half chicken Had coffee which was not very hot and had to ask for a refill after we were done eating. We never did receive our biscuits until after I asked her if we should've gotten them our meal. My husband had the meatloaf and he said his food was just lukewarm. We were there a year ago and saw my old post giving this restaurant excellent ratings. Can't remember the date of the last time we (maybe 6 months ago) I had ordered the roast beef, which looked like Gray mystery meat and had no flavor at all was afraid to eat it. Didn't say anything that time just hadn't gone back till today. I told the cashier we weren't ever coming back. They had another associate come over because the manager was too busy. I traveled here with a large group of 20-30 people. I was able to enjoy my food and drinks; their chicken, sides, and teas are great! But the service wasn't so great.. I had to ask 3-4 times for a refill and NEVER got my refill. As everyone else was getting refills throw out the dinner, I never got the singular refill I asked for. It was quite chaotic inside but it was okay. It was my first impression of a Cracker Barrel as I've never been to one until tonight, but I hope next time, the service is better. I visited on a Monday at brunch and was surprised to see how busy this place was, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait but it definitely didn't seem to take that long. Chrissy was our waitress and she was prompt, friendly and detail oriented for sure. We played the little stick game on the table and unfortunately we were both in the dumb category with 3pegs remaining each time. Food was on our table in no time and man was it good!! It's confusing to pay. There's a lot of people and clutter near cashout. I looked and some kids were looking at merchandise so I assumed they were not in line. No one with a ticket to pay so I gave mine to cashier and she RUDELY told me to get in back of the line which I couldn't see. Everyone was short. Remove some clutter from the area would help and better attitude from cashier and put someone at every register. You're probably wondering why the 3 stars for this restaurant. I can tell you, the reason behind the rating isn't because of the staff. The hostess, my server and the check-out person were all great! All were positive and happy/helpful people, so no complaints there. It was actually the food. Here's why... It's not that the food is bad, it's just not good. There is little to no flavor in any of the food that I ordered, which consisted of pancakes, eggs, bacon, ham and sausage patty. I even tried to doctor it up with salt, pepper and hot sauce, but I don't even think an act of god could give their food any flavor... One thumb up for the staff! Services were terrible. My wife and 3 kids sat there for 30 mins and no one attended us. They could have at least offered waters while whatever they did that was so important was taken care of. There were 4 waiters standing in front of us. Didn't ask if we were attended or if we needed some kind of help. I spoke to one and asked to be helped or to tell whoever was appointed to our table that we were there, it was apparent that no services were gonna be offered, so we got up and left. Had an awesome experience this morning. Felt like a real Cracker Barrel experience. This store has only been open for a relatively short time, and like most restaurants, got off to a rocky start. I had a couple of mediocre experiences and stopped going. Approx. 2 years in, we revisited, and were very impressed with food quality and promptness of waitstaff. Everything came out fast, fresh and fantastic. I had the cream cheese stuffed, blueberry french toast, 2 eggs over easy, bacon and coffee. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had a party of 5 and theirs came out just as good. None of our beverages ever ran dry. Came here for Thanksgiving 2020....it was great! Came for Thanksgiving 2021......it was great! Just ate here for Thanksgiving 2022.....worst Cracker Barrel experience yet. Did the call ahead seating and when arrived they said we still had a 20 minute wait. We didn't get seated for over an hour. Prior to seating us, they asked if we wanted to split up our family to sit. Why would you even ask that on a Thanksgiving Day when you come to eat here with all your family?? Then they were out of the fried turkey at noon.....it's not like we got here in the evening. We were here in the mornin. Ok get passed that. Then my mother in law and my dad get their plates about 10-15 minutes before the rest of us. They were literally done eating by the time we got our food. Not sure who's to blame there. Either way just a terrible experience at Cracker Barrel. On a good note, the stuffing was good. read more

Me and my aunt gave this place a second try, it was a first for my mom and grandma. Yikes what a mistake and I was hoping to have that opinion be changed or improved. But if you've never been to a Cracker Barrel this is what you need to do to have an easy at home experience. Go to the H‑E‑B, buy yourself a hungry man TV dinner, cook by instructions and plate it really nice. Also I'm usually one to NEVER complain. I'm satisfied with convenient store burritos, but the not so good service and watching other tables be prioritized, combined with my room temp food and the dissatisfied faces on my family TOOK THIS SHIP WAY DOWN sister!! I'd also like to point out my aunt has a KAREN type persona, so A). She should be writing this B). My job the entire time was to get her to chill out and not start a scene.
