I had the Tuna Tucson first it was so flavorful this is definitely my favorite thing I've gotten so far then my wonderful hostess brought out my tasty soup it paired nicely with the fresh baguette half it was so warm and had a delectable crunchy crust and to finish off my wondrous meal I had a refreshing luscious strawberry sorbet! Last year not sure what month it was we tried this place out. We had a good experience. But was disappointed because they did not have the brioche French toast. I had ordered the eggs Benedict and my partner order the biscuit sausage gravy. So I had been wanting to do try the French toast ever since. When we had the opportunity went went to this establishment our second time. We basically ordered the same thing as the last time because we told (again) they did not have the brioche French toast due to running out of bread(as per waitress). The consistency on the meal from the previous visit was not there. The gravy appeared to be thicker and had a peppery flavor. The biscuit appeared much smaller. Does even fill half the plate! We were asked if everything was okay? My partner let the waitress know that it was not okay. He told her what the issue was and did not charge him for the meal. The Chef came out and apologized. By the way Thank You for taking the time to do so. Later the waitress tells me that the French toast is only cooked on weekends. Not everyone has weekends off from work! That is why we go on weekdays. Cleanliness I give it a 5 star Service a 5 waitress was attentive Food a 3 I liked the eggs Benedict but the biscuit was small and crunchy. I was excited of finally going to this place for dinner, which is by reservation only & makes it more exciting. We had for appetizer the pumpkin ravioli with brown sugar buttered sauce. It was amazing! The filling was super good, although I wished it had a little more in it; it was more pasta than filling. Anyway, the 2nd course was a pork chop with apple chutney on top with a smudge of buttered parsnip on the side, or the other choice was risotto. My husband was super bummed there were no veggies on the plate. It was tasty , but you really had to ration the chutney & parsnip smudge to each bite or else you'd just be chewing on a lot of chop by itself, like my hubby (lol). The dessert was phenomenal! It was a pear tart with a buttery flaky crust & a dollop of vanilla creme anglaise. The service was good & attentive, a little short staffed though. The chef came & introduced himself to us. The food is good. The physical restaurant is not. The seating is tight, and awkward. The interior design and construction feels like poorly done dyi. The most annoying thing is the pin-up decor in the main seating area. That alone had my wife like "we aren't coming back". This gem of a restaurant is truly delightful. The sandwiches, made on home-made focaccia bread, are exquisite. They are also quite large, which means I got to save half for another meal! But it was hard to stop after just half, although I was full, because it was so delicious. I had the eggplant and pesto (the Orteggio) but there are also choices with meat. Fantastic brunch spot in Harlingen!! We were warmly greeted upon entering and right away felt super comfortable. The array of freshly cut flowers on each table made the place feel special. The menu was a bit on the smaller side, with less options for folks who don't eat red meat (beef/pork). But the vegetarian options were great! Everything was delicious and flavors were well-balanced. The fresh brie and greens made the entire meal awesome. The food was super fresh, and hot! The mimosas were also delicious, it seemed like it was made with freshly squeezed juice. Our hostess was super sweet and kind. She suggested we have the last two chocolate pignoli tarts from last night's dinner and they were a total hit! Not too sweet, but very decadent. My husband and neighbor got the steak frites and they said it was okay, however I got the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup and it was amazing!!!!!! I couldn't finish it all so I asked the waitress to box it up. She came back and said she accidentally dropped my half sandwich that I hadn't touched on the floor so she boxed up the sandwich of 3 bites I had left of the other sandwich along with the left over soup. I was so bummed because I was looking forward to eating the rest later and she didn't even say she would charge me for half or replace the half she dropped. So bummed. read more

I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. I had the Benedict eggs with ham/Canadian bacon. It was cooked perfectly. It was very filling. I had a side salad that went with it that was equally good. The place is very small. I'm not sure how they serve so many people in such a small place but if you can ever get a chance to try their food you must. I will return and try other things on the menu read more

The bistro is in a lovely old home with windows allowing views of the sunset. The music that was playing on the sound system was perfectly matched to the ambiance (scott bradlee's post modern jukebox). The waittress was welcoming and helpful at all times. The food was expertly prepared. We enjoyed our arugula salad with fried cheese, short rib and mashed potatoes, brie on toast and dessert of almondy cream. The ingredients used are high quality, the dishes are made from scratch, and the chef's culinary expertise and openness to experimenting definitely shine through. The restaurant offers tasting menus that change monthly. From each month's tasting menu, you can choose five dishes to make your five-course tasting or nine dishes to make your nine-course tasting. Although the number of dishes is small, it allows the restaurant to have focus and do those nine things well rather than thirty things poorly. Excellent move. Each dish is something you won't find anywhere else in Harlingen--perhaps in only a few restaurants in the entire Valley. I went with the five-course December tasting menu and ordered the following: * Chestnut Agnolotti with White Truffle Oil Sage Cream Sauce--A dish with stuffed sweet pillows of pasta. * Butter-Poached Lobster Tail and Mascarpone Orzo--Both the lobster and the orzo melted in my mouth. * Pomegranate-Champagne Sorbet--Refreshing! Homemade chicken pot pie was so yummy! Staff was awesome. BYOB, so bring a bottle of champagne for yummy mimosas. They even provide a bucket of ice to keep it chilled for you. The decor is amazing as well. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. A must try when in harlingen. read more

First time having brunch here and the abeyance was nice I love there decore . Now the server was nice but she was very uniformed of her menu. She said they had run out of French toast so I ordered chocolate waffles.She comes back and says they don't have any and it will be a 30 minute wait if I would like some. So I tell her I will wait she then goes to the kitchen and comes back and tells me that the wait is actually 1 hour. She then tell me about a delicious blueberry croissant if I would like to try it so I tell her that's fine I'll try that. Five minutes past by and the manager comes to our table with an attitude repeated the same thing the server told us about the chocolate waffles raising her voice. I felt she was doing that so we can stop asking for the waffles. Her excuse for not having the chocolate waffles was that they had a big party so that's why they were not going to make any more waffles batter. There should be no excuse or blame it on a big party why the chef decides not to make an item on the menu endless they run out of the ingredients. I felt the manager made it feel that the big party was more important than the rest of the customers. Time passed by, and the food came out. it was delicious, nothing to complain about the food. By the time we finished, the manager came to our table, and asked us if we needed anything, and I told her yes I just needed the blue berry croissant. She then leaves, and 20 minutes later passes by and the server comes and asks us if we were ready for our ticket. I was confused because I was still waiting for my croissant. so I asked her, to just cancel the croissant and she apologized, that she had forgotten about it, and thought the manager had brought it over to our table. This is an absolute unique experience in the Rio Grande Valley. This very relaxed and comfortable environment combined with a world class French chef makes for an amazing dining experience. Bianca has been our server both times and all I can say is I wish that service was this good everywhere else I eat. We have tried over half of their Summer menu and there's nothing I wouldn't recommend. The menu rotates seasonally and I'm looking forward to seeing what's new fir the Fall! As we walked in, I did not feel like we were in South Texas. It felt like we were on vacation and for us, that was a good thing. The ambiance was nice, the music playing was French, and the hostess and server made us feel like we were the center of their attention and treated us very well. I ordered the Tomato soup, grilled cheese, and fries......My wife ordered the Steak Frites and she said, it was one of the best steaks she's ever had. After lunch, we ordered the coffee that was on the menu and it was fantastic. I loved it and so did my wife. My wife then ordered the bread pudding. This is a real treat for Harlingen. The vibe is cool and the staff are amazing but it is the food that sets this restaurant apart. We ordered the French omelet, roasted potatoes, toast and cream of mushroom soup. It was amazing. We also ordered a sandwich with ham, cheese and an amazing white sauce grilled over the top. It was pure decadence. The other choices on the menu make this the kind of dining experience that is more like the choice in a big city. I hope Harlingen supports this restaurant. If I could give this place 0 stars I would, the service here is atrocious. They are unbelievably rude and although the food looks great we wouldn't know because each time we have tried to come here we have not been greeted or given a wait time. Both times people have come into the waiting area, looked at us, and said nothing. Not a hello, not a good morning, just a blatant rude stare and they walk away. We've attempted to go twice and at this point I doubt we will try again. Lola's Bistro in Brownsville is much better in terms of service and food variety, I think we'll be taking our services elsewhere. read more

Love this place. It's small house that's been converted into an eatery with an eclectic vibe and incredible food. Living in the neighborhood, I walk to Laurel Park Bistro often and have tried everything on the menu, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and would get again. Of note is the French Toast - it's epic. I highly recommend it to all, even those who don't typically like French toast (that was me before). The quiche is melt in your mouth good too. I've noticed the menu changes on occasion and sometimes they offer specials not on the menu. Definitely recommend! read more
