I went here for breakfast because it isnclose to my place. Upon entering it was empty. Of course it was 10:30 am. Most people are sleeping or at work. It was very clean. Alot of phone orders were c9m8ng in. I sat myself because the only server was on phone call after call. She came and took my order. The breakfast menu was on all tables. I cannot recommend La Botana more!!! I ate at the restaurant, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. I was even able to add a chili toreado as a side (which isn't on the menu). I don't understand why everyone is so upset with their food, of course your delivery order will probably be cold..... Most of their employees seem to be very fluent in English, AND Spanish. I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. Every time a server walked by, they asked if everything was 'ok,' Even the server in training did an impeccable job. Delicious authentic food. My Asada was SO great, I cleared the entire plate. The only thing I could criticize, is they could add a little bit of extra rice and beans along with your meal. Bad service, no utensils for take out really?!?, the food was disgusting, french fries that were prob fried twice, the rice was from early lunch or some other day and the fish was salty and overly seasoned and cocked, employees were unwelcoming, I understand that we came 40 min before closing, but at least try to make some coins bro, no customer service skills, no tip, I hope this small business get their employees up to standards, or all these franchise companies will take over and bye byes small business. read more

I came to this place because my parents invited me and that will probably be the only time I ever come, because it's their treat. While the fajita parrillada for two was OK the rest of our food was just mediocre. The enchiladas are small and nothing special, and if you order corn tortillas be aware that they are very small. I did enjoy the chips and salsa at least. For what it is worth, this place is pretty cheap, which is why the rating isn't in the negatives. You are getting what you pay for, so if you need a cheap spot to eat and can bare with OK food then this may be a worthy spot for a cheap meal. read more

The building is old, but everything was clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food was hot and excellent and the price was outstanding. I had the roasted chicken dinner. They had Covid symptoms questions posted on the door. They also only had four open tables out of 10 for social distancing. I was just passing through town and found this place on my way back to Houston. It's nothing fancy but the food was good, the price was right, and the service was exceptional enough for me to take time out of my day to encourage everyone in the area to give them a try. Stopped in here for lunch on a Friday and it was fairly busy. The restaurant was very clean. The service was very nice and thorough. I ordered the beef fajita nachos and let me warn you, it's a big plate. (2-4 people size) I enjoyed the fresh taste of the cheese and fajita on top of the in-house made chips. Went for breakfast. I was told it was good from my family. We went this time and had a different experience. Restaurant was practically empty and food took forever. We were very close to leaving the restaurant and just pay for our drinks.Waitress A our main server was scatterbrained and kept getting items slowly when she remembered. I ordered coffee, too expensive: $1.99 and the cream was powdered: gross . I switched to lunch because our main server didn't know the menu well enough and couldn't answer my questions about the food.Waitress B was rude when the order came. She brought our food one plate at a time instead of all together. Although we never complained to any of the staff about our frustrations verbally, she sensed we were impatient due to the long wait time and she just threw one of our orders on our table.We thought Waitress B was going to spit in our food. Horrible service &incompetent waitresses who give attitude. I won't be coming back and I'd give this restaurant negative stars because of my experience. Very disapointed with my lunch. I sent my wife to pick up some ribs for me and she got me a rib plate. Horrible, It was dry, cold and tough meat. Not very much food in the plate. No styrofoam plate to keep my food at least warm. No plastic ware. Not going back. Too many good restaurants in Harlingen to put up with this. They offer free delivery and after you place your order they say order must be 30$ worth of food... No where on they're advertisement does it say limit for free delivery. .. They try and have me order add'l food that i dont need . I would prefer to pay the delivery fee then pay for food that going to be wasted . After this experience I will no longer provide my business to them. False advertising is not cool.... read more
