We've stopped here each time we've visited Texas. Their wine is outstanding and they honestly make you feel like family. We brought three bottles of the Peggy Sue and Riley Belle home. The owners are so friendly and make you feel like a guest in their home. They sell some great seasonings and balsamic vinegars. The honey they sell is top notch and such o good price. We were surprised how delicious Bill and SueLynn's wines were, OMG! We ended up receiving a case discount! Our faves were the Family Reunion, which we called a Texas Bordeaux, the Malbec, Petit Syrah, the port and Fight Night, an excellent accidental blend of black and blue berries. We have never really enjoyed a fruit wine before this one! OMG again! The fur babies were as friendly and hospitable as the hosts. It was a fabulous afternoon on the deck with them. What a quaint winery in Lampasas. Our first visit here. We were welcomed as soon as we stepped foot inside by a friendly, knowledgeable young lady. Madison helped us to become acquainted with the wines and the area. We enjoyed a five wine sampling for $10 and then had a few glasses on the patio. We were very pleased and left with three bottles and souvenir glasses. read more

I really disliked the wine tasting glasses here. They are small and do not allow you to smell the wine like you are able to with a larger glass. Also, their bar seemed more appropriate for standing, but they had large bar chairs to sit on. Your knees knocked the wood underneath and the counter was far away. That said, the wines were good and we got to go in the back and see some of the process and taste one of the wines from the barrel. read more

We frequently visit wineries from Fredericksburg to Llano, San Saba, Comanche, Hamilton and on over to Lampasas. We enjoy them all but Texas Legato is a stand out with some of the heartiest pours we have experienced. The warm and friendly atmosphere that Bill and Sue Lynn provide is well above par. From the annual crawfish boils to the blessing of the vines and harvest are just wonderful opportunities to enjoy wine making at it's best. Love Legato !! read more

I was introduced to this place approximately six months ago by my wife's cousin. They happen to live just a coupe of miles away from this place. They have several wines to choose from. Recently returned to Texas Legato to enjoy their annual crawfish boil. This was definitely a fun event with piles of crawfish, potatoes, corn and sausage being offered every half hour or so. How is works: you pick up your cardboard box lid and belly up to the table where they dump out the contents of the pot, and then you scoop up your share! The ticket cost also included one glass of wine and dessert (bourbon bread pudding). As far as their wine offerings the Petite Syrah remains my favorite. read more

Our second time here, this is a very friendly location with people seemingly falling over themselves to help you. We arrived right at opening and tasted on their porch on a cool afternoon. The ambiance is more of a country good time as everything said "Come on in and sit for a spell!" They grow a lot of their own grapes and are willing to experiment with their wines. I finally went out to look for the 2 wineries in Lampasas and I was happy to find them. Texas Legato is a small family owned winery. The owners of Texss Legato and PIllar Bluff, the winery next door, are brothers which is really cool. I think they had 5 wines which ranged from sweet to dry. That is a plus if you have a group with drastically different wine tastes. The best part is they had a tasty winerita that I happily consumed in the Texas summer heat. As most small wineries, Texas Legato changes what wines they make yearly due to how the growing conditions change. If you like wines stop here...then head over to Pillar Bluffs. Mrs. B and I really like this winery's offerings. I highly recommend the 2008 Family Reunion. The winemaker there takes all the grape varietals in the proportion in which they are sourced for a given year and creates a blend in that proportion. The 2008 vintage of this signature blend comprises 40% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Syrah, and 10% Merlot. It makes for a great blend. The Cabernet Sauvignon produced by TX Legato is also very good. Those two lines are some of Mrs. B's and my favorite Texas wines. I highly recommend stopping by this location some weekend if you find yourself touring the northern side of the Texas Hill Country. read more

Texas has been underrated for years when it comes to wine making. I have experienced great private wines for the past fifteen years but just recently have the vineyards started releasing consistently good wine. That being said today has changed my perspective significantly. Having just sampled over twenty wines produced by Texas Legato starting with their first production of 2005; Texas can produce top quality wines that compete with the best in the world. Stand outs today were the Texas 2006 Cab Sav, 2011 family reunion, 2011 Malbec, and the star of today was the 2011 Hoover Cabernet that we paired against a 2000 Opus One Cabernet. Hands down the Hoover was a stand out amazing wine. It is exciting to know that these Texas grapes are producing wines that are maturing at 10-15 plus years and will be cherished for years to come. I thank Bill and Sue Lynn for inviting me this incredible event and look forward to indulging in wines from this and like vineyards in the years to come. read more

Great beginning to our Month of Sundays Barrel Tasting. We arrived early, but were welcomed nonetheless. Generous tastings. The barrel tastings were fun. And the wine was good. Cute winery, friendly staff, tasty wine, the only draw back was not getting a menu that described the wines and list the prices. Not a big deal but it was the only winery so far that didn't. I ran into a couple of people that were there, at the next winery, and they said the same thing. Overall I really enjoyed my visit. Super friendly, super yummy! My parents came here a couple weeks ago and decided they had to bring me back when I visited from Seattle. Bill, the owner. We found this wonderful winery several years ago and have always enjoyed the relaxed family atmosphere in the tasting room or outside on the beautiful patio and what a very special treat if you get a tour of the vineyards with a wonderful glass of Fight Night in hand! The Crawfish Boils are the best!! No one should miss this fun time complete with the greatest zydeco band Dr Zog!! About average wines, even the one they claim is a double gold winner. Server was a bit on the young side and unsophisticated in her view of wines, even to the point of saying, "all of that stuff about wine and food pairing is pretty old stuff, just drink what you like." If you like sweet wines, they have some enjoyable ones. Otherwise, not worth a trip to Lampasas. read more

We were excited to visit the two wineries in Lampasas. Stopped by Saturday afternoon and they had a few people there. When we came in no one greeted us or acknowledged that we were there. We looked around at the merchandise and just decided to leave because at this point it felt awkward. Went over to Pillar Bluff. Had a great visit and bought some good wine. read more

Winery offerings were great as was Wendy our hostess. Quaint little tasting room with a nice variety of Texas wines. Loved the Port-like wine served in a special sipping glass. Just a few miles off Rte 183 in Lampasas next to their sister ( or should I say brother) winery Pillar Bluff so you get two wineries in one trip.
