If you love history, this is a fantastic museum thoroughly covering the WWII's Pacific theater. The…read morechronological organization of the museum begins with the key building blocks for the war in the Pacific theater during WWII. The exhibits include interesting memorabilia, contrasting perspectives, and military equipment. Multimedia displays help bring to life the stories and events, especially for younger ones and visual learners. Be sure to visit the separate building focusing on the life of Admiral Nimitz, an excellent tribute to a very unique man. Time budget: minimum 3 hours Value: At first blush $26/person seemed unreasonable. But overall the value is good considering the quality of the exhibits. Overall cleanliness: excellent Bathroom cleanliness: excellent

So, this place is probably better than 3 stars, but my experience was not. We showed up on a…read moreFriday after Thanksgiving and were told a 'portion" of the museum was under renovations, but they were giving vouchers to come back in the next month. I live 9 hours away so no chance of that. Anyway, I paid the fee (not discounted mind you) and proceeded to go check things out. The museum is basically 3 completely separate buildings. Well apparently, the entire main part of the museum was under renovation. The only thing in the main building was the gift shop and some sort of little kid's part. Outside the main building is a cool monument to honor all of the former presidents that served in WW2 and a beautiful Japanese Peace garden. The garden was donated by the Japanese people out of respect for Admiral Nimitz. The 2nd building was completely dedicated to Admiral Nimitz, the leader of the Naval command in the Pacific campaign part of the war. This part was my favorite. Very informative and interesting. The 3rd building was full of boats and airplanes focusing a lot on PT boats. This was really cool to see as well. The facility is probably great, but I didn't get the full experience. Be prepared to walk a few blocks because the museum is spaced out about a quarter mile (3-4 blocks) across the town.

(NOTE: He has since retired.) Whenever he has out-of-towners coming through, he always takes them to Fort Hood and never fails to make a stop at this museum. As many times as I've visited, I seem to get more and more educated about this Division. Displayed outside are different types of military transportation - land and air, both foreign and domestic. If you have some time to look around, I suggest reading up on the relics. The museum structure/building doesn't look like anything bangin' from the outside, but it's quite surprising how much articles and artifacts there are inside. Walking through and doing a bit of reading will inform you on the various steps its taken to transition from how it began to where they currently are. I still find it interesting. Admission is free, but you have the option of making a donation, if you so choose. A must-visit if you ever find yourself inside the base.

It does such a great job of bringing local history to life in a way that's interesting, engaging, and enjoyable to experience. The exhibits were well done, thoughtfully curated, and give you a real appreciation for Williamson County's beginnings. The museum is welcoming, educational, and perfect for all ages...as a visitor I found it interesting to understand Williamson County's history. It's a great stop if you enjoy history or want to learn more about the community you're are visiting. Highly recommend checking it out and supporting this local museum. Important to note, entrance to the museum was free.

It's a shame that small town bigots and prudes are reviewing this small local museum poorly because of their views. As people who are newer to the area we were able to learn a lot of information about the past of the area. The man working there had extra stories for us and recommended other historical places in the community to visit. There is nothing that is sexual or outlandish in the exhibits, just true history, perfectly digestible for children. Many of the exhibits are interactive with additional sounds, videos, or items to lift and read under. We found it by exploring the square, but they do offer scheduled tours. Free to visit, but please consider donating or purchasing something that they have on sale in their gift shop to support them!
