The friendly lady who helped us at Pillar Bluff.

Pulling up to Pillar Bluff's nearly-full unpaved parking lot, we saw a live band, BBQ, and a nice little group of people sitting on picnic tables in a giant outdoor gazebo. Attached to the huge plot of land was a small house, which was where the tasting room was. Their tasting room was pretty small, with a counter and 4 stools. Our hostess was a really pretty, friendly blond lady, who gave everyone nothing but smiles. She did the tastings of 6 wines in order on the list. They had fresh jalapeno goat cheese and sun-dried goat cheese with crackers, complimentary like the wine tasting. We tasted wines such as white Merlot (yes, it was white. It's a specialty they only sell during Xmas), bor doe (yes, they spell it differently than how we do), port, and pinot grigio. Dark chocolate chips were served with the port. :) We did not walk out of there with wine, but our brother in law left with a bottle of white Merlot, which was a very sweet wine. The goat wine was from Bradley Farms, a farm right next to the winery. We went there after wine tasting, to purchase some goat cheese ourselves. :)

Such a cute little quant vineyard and winery! We found this spot while doing a wine tour in Fredericksburg and Im sure glad we did. The wine was delicious and the man doing the tour was awesome. So friendly! Also, they told us about the best gold fish recipe ever - spicy ranch hold fish which we now make at home and for parties.

My favorite of the four wineries I visited yesterday. I loved the outdoor seating, the staff was great, and the petite Syrah was delicious!

Great wine! Nice quiet scenery and hospitality to go with it. I recommend the Tempranillo but all the wines are great.

It was great getting back out to the Perissos estate this weekend. Since our initial visit, the…read morewinemaking team has clearly refined their aging process, and the culinary side is firing on all cylinders. I sampled the Bruschetta. The healthy portion of Burrata cheese, the acidity in the balsamic glaze and tomatoes creates a seamless match with the Sangiovese, enhancing the wine's red fruit characteristics without washing out the palate. For this trip, I also tasted the 2023 Meritage, a dark, complex blend anchored by Texas grown grapes including Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon balanced with Cabernet Franc. Offers layered aromas of cassis, graphite, baking spices and grounded by structured, firm tannins. My previous review included the feedback that prices were incredibly high. Now, the prices of everything else has caught up. Good job Team Perissos. The hospitality of the staff is why we moved to Texas in the 80s. I'm well traveled and I can tell you, Texas hospitality is beyond compare.

The staff is very nice, but can get slow when it is crowded. Known for Texas wine and Italian varietals. My husband and I shared a tasting and it was pretty good. The tempranillo was my favorite.
