Update 02-03-2024 7…read moreCreeks continues to produce some of the best wines in Central Texas. Stopped by this weekend because one of our favorite chefs was onsite doing his thing... Papa Paella! Hands down the best paella we have ever had! That's another review though! LOL The Horne family that owns and runs 7 Creeks are great folks. Always stopping by to visit (when they can, it stays pretty busy on weekend days), and they're all willing to talk about how they make the wine, wine and food pairing, etc. They offer some food items, e.g., charcuterie board, Fat Boy Cheese and crackers (if you haven't had Fat Boy cheese, you gotta get you some of that-- delicious!). And, they welcome you bringing your own food. It's a good place for families, usually quite a few there, plenty of room for kids to run around and exhaust themselves! :-) 7 Creeks usually has live music on Saturdays, and often has special menus cooked and offered by Jerry Horne, he is a fantastic cook... gumbo, street tacos, etc. Well worth your time to stop by the winery in Burnet, TX. Highly recommend 7 Creeks Vineyard.

Sarah, Joey, Kalen, Taylor, and Tori are absolutely the best! The customer service and care about the customer experience. Whenever I visit they are all always so helpful and polite. They truly care about wine and the vineyard are incredible knowledgeable about the tasting notes, the different vintages they have, and all the other aspects of wine. I truly appreciate all the knowledge about the barrels, and all the steps of the process they all possess. I've learned so much attending the regular tastings, vertical tastings, and window club dinners. Oh to even bring up the wine club dinners! They always have such good chefs and their setups are always nice. I appreciate the staffing and the attention to detail they always provide. Incredible evenings and fantastic food. Always a treat and a core memory. I've ate at so several Michelin star restaurants and had pairing. Albeit not always at the same caliber, as something like Alinea. It is hands down the best, and that is not even including the pricing. It's an absolute steal. And nothing in comparison for the area of central Texas. What Valley Mills Vineyards has cultivated goes far beyond the bottle. It is, in the truest sense, a living experience: one where the terroir of genuine human connection is as carefully tended as the vines themselves. In a world increasingly defined by transactional encounters and manufactured hospitality, Valley Mills stands as a quiet and remarkable exception, a space where passion is not performed but practiced, where knowledge is not gatekept but generously shared, and where every visit feels less like a transaction and more like a homecoming. I have raised a glass in some of the most celebrated rooms in the country, and yet it is here, in the heart of central Texas, that I find myself most genuinely moved, not by spectacle, but by sincerity. That is the rarest vintage of all.

The owner, Gil, was on hand to lead us through a flight of wines (I believe it was $5 for 5 tastings) and he effortlessly charmed us through the entire selection. He's obviously very proud of the work they do at Pillar Bluff, and deservedly so. Of particular note are a very fruity Chenin Blanc and Ruby Port. The healthy portion of Burrata cheese, the acidity in the balsamic glaze and tomatoes creates a seamless match with the Sangiovese, enhancing the wine's red fruit characteristics without washing out the palate. For this trip, I also tasted the 2023 Meritage, a dark, complex blend anchored by Texas grown grapes including Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon balanced with Cabernet Franc. Offers layered aromas of cassis, graphite, baking spices and grounded by structured, firm tannins. My previous review included the feedback that prices were incredibly high.
