Never knew this existed a stones throw away from china town. Stepping inside it felt I was back in the 1960s or 1970s dive joints. The tables had football cards epoxied into them, I thought that was pretty cool. I had their classic Texas double, burger was fantastic, it wasn't too salty. I'm a sucker for chili and ordered a cup, tastes old school with meat, sauce, and onions. read more

My first visit near closing, yet they kindly served us with a smile and waited for us to finish, instead of throwing us out. Burgers were made to order. I had the Turkey burger with Mushrooms hoping its healthier and fried Mushrooms. Both were good and plenty. Restaurant was clean. Please give them a try. read more

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. You get the old school burger joint feel as soon as you walk in. Love the memorabilia on the walls. The plants are thriving. (That tells you a lot about a place actually!) You can tell they have a lot of regulars. The person taking the orders was so kind and already knew the orders for some of the people in line. Craving a burger?? This is going to be the spot for me. read more

This was my first time here and I'll definitely be back. The staff were nice, there was lots of seating, and it's self service style. The burger was HUGE and came stuffed. I got the hamburger with grilled onions which was good but my favorite was the mushroom swiss burger as it was packed with flavor. Also got a side of fresh cut fries and onion rings. The fries were fine but not my fav since they became soggy fast. As for the onion ring, they were nice and crispy. All the food came out hot and fresh! The only thing was that, it does get quite hot inside and the pickles were a little too overpowering. Overall, definitely will be back as food was good, fresh, and big portions! read more

Fries have almost no crispiness. They're seasoned adequately with salt, but I would prefer for them to have another round in the fryer. I can understand not wanting super hard fries, but the fries are often too soft and undercooked as a result. Love the char flavor on the cheeseburger. The patty was likely cooked at a higher heat than most others, creating more of a crust on the patty. And the rustic atmosphere makes me feel like I've been transported to a saloon in the cowboy era of American history. read more

Texas Hamburger Palace - Cheese Burger with Fries - Burgers Near Me - Houston, Texas

I came here twice very recently in the afternoon around lunchtime. I picked up a Hamburger with tomatoes n pickles togo both times. One of the best burgers in Houston. Very delicious, fresh and old school style. Most private places are terrible for burgers in and outside the city, bc the meat is either bland with no seasoning or just passable. The buns were soft and the meat was well-seasoned, juicy and grilled well. The tomatoes were thick and refreshing. When a burger only needs one or two toppings like this and still be great, it's a solid burger. Most places need to cover it up with a bunch of stuff to compensate for the meat lacking, except TX Hamburger Palace, Goode Company Hamburgers, Niko Niko's and JLB on Stella Link who nail it right. Very welcoming, friendly and efficient service. read more

Got buffalo burger and fries and onion rings. All was delicious. The service was fast and everything is made fresh so you have to be patient. There's a lot of old signs and antique items decorating the place. There's even an old cigarette machine but I don't think it's working. Quiet and comfortable inside and several huge round tables for large groups as well as tables for two or 4. read more

Bomb burger! I thought the food was delicious and super fresh, and service was friendly and fast. It's a classic Texan restaurant feel, like one in a small town traveling between cities. Price was great, $12 for the burger fries and drink. Tons of other options though, will be back for sure read more

I've driven by this place numerous times headed to Tejas Tacos for breakfast. I Yelped it and good reviews so yesterday I stopped in. My kind of mom n pop place. Pretty straight forward menu. Burgers and sandwiches and sides. I went with the turkey burger and onion rings. I know, turkey - just trying to keep it healthy- I know the onion rings didn't help. This was a dammm good burger. Next time definitely going with the beef. The ORs were nice thick slices of onions and a good breading. Plenty of food and honestly I should have just ate half and took the rest home, but it was so good. New hidden gem for me. Later. read more

I have been having lunch at the THP for over 30 years. Not so often now that I am retired, but I get down there when I get the chance. Burgers are still world-class. I always get the onion rings, but the French fries are good too. A couple of years ago I asked the owner how long he had been in business there. He said 35 years. I said, "I remember when your little girl took orders and ran the cash register." He said, "She's a Doctor now!" read more

A very solid burger spot if you're craving one in an area filled with Asian restaurants Loved the vibes inside, definitely play on the "old school" type of joint. Enjoyed my burger here! I got the Turkey burger without cheese. The bun was nice and soft and it comes with pickles, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and sauce. It was really good - the turkey wasn't heavily seasoned but was just right. Fries were decent, but some of them were kinda hard. The staff was friendly and inside was decorated. They ran out of fish sandwiches today so I will try that next time. read more

The food is great. Really well priced. Amazing customer service. Also really good fries.

Unassuming spot with great reviews that definitely lived up to the hype. I had the Buffalo Bacon Burger and fries--massive portion, cooked just right, and packed with flavor. The service was friendly and fast, and for around $20 with a drink, I left full and satisfied. Not quite a 5-star "blow your mind" experience, but definitely a solid go-to burger joint I'll be coming back to. read more

Great hidden gem for a classic, tasty, and reliable burger! Was recommended to try this place by coworkers and I'm glad I did. They have a good variety of different kinds of burgers, which comes with fries and a drink! Customer service was also great and the guy who took my order was extremely nice and helpful. My only critique would be that majority of the tables needed to be wiped down; most had crumbs from other customers. Besides that, I would totally recommend. read more

I placed my order on GrubHub so I didn't get to dine in yet. My wife raves about this place so I decided to give it a try. I did have fries but they were so good and fresh I forgot to take pictures. But as for the double cheeseburger, it was HUGE. Barely could get a straight bite lol. You can tell the burgers a fresh ground beef and cooked to perfection. So far it's one of my top 3 burger spots in Houston. They don't get enough love or attention but this is a real gem ducked off of Harwin read more

What a great treat for my mah jongg group to play and eat at the Palace. We were welcomed graciously by Mr Sam. He is the on site all over the place owner. And his mission is to make you a come back customer. We ordered many different items and will do the same in the future. The fried zucchini is a special treat served up with ranch dressing. All items are cooked to order and come out of the kitchen sizzling. Thanks Mr. Sam. Can hardly wait to go back. read more

Good burgers. Fries Meh, a bit limp and greasy for my tastes. Maybe try onion rings next time

Stopped in for lunch. Large country feeling wood dining area was empty so I ate in. TV on good sports channel. Turkey burger - Very nice size patty. Filling but not overly seasoned or saucy. Veggies were fresh. Great bread. Fried Zucchini - Sliced in circles, fresh so all shapes & sizes. Breading was so flavorful, if u like zucchini order these instead of fries. Extra $1.50 The Ranch - was soooo thick, chilled & rich it was the topping on awesome zucchini. Nice place to stop for a burger. Not over the top but very good. read more

Years ago I would go to a hamburger joint over on on Ranchester at Harwin, call Texas Hamburger Palace. It was great, plus it was family owned and operated. Yesterday I was in meeting at one of the office building along BW-8 and Westpark and decided to see if they were still there. Yep, they were still operating, nothing had changed since I was there last sometime in the mid-late 90's. The neighborhood was about the same, still a bit sketchy. The have one of the best cheeseburgers in town!! It's not one of those fancy "NOUVO" burgers you find these days topped with "UN-BURGER" toppings; just traditional American Burgers! While I did add bacon and jalapenos to my cheeseburger, I guess that was a stray from "plain". The burgers have a great patty off the flat-top (not grilled), a couple of huge fresh tomato slice, just enough lettuce, onions, and pickles, with a bun that's been on the flat-top just long enough to get some flavor and warm it up. Fries are FANTAISTIC, they are fresh cut potatoes with skins on, fried when you place your order, and not fried to death like the fast food places. IF you like McDonald's skinny fries with no soft centers, you might not like these, but if you like homestyle fries, you're in luck. Onion rings, don't really come out as "rings", but are excellent as well. AND it won't break the bank. You can get cheese burger, fries and a drink for around ten bucks. read more

We stopped here for a quick burger. The burgers reminded me of a little drive-in that I used to eat at when I was a child. The food was tasty and cooked/dressed as orders. Fries were hot and tasted fresh (kind of like Five Guys but without so much seasoning). The onion rings were good as well. Very casual atmosphere with great food! read more

Food Good! Turkey Burger on point! Fries are hot and good!! Drinks just okay. Overall Good!

Best small business hamburger. Get it with a fried egg. Sam is always polite and restaurant is always clean.

A gem for traditional burgers! Nothing fancy and "quirky" in their menu, but if you're looking for a juicy mouth-watering cheeseburger, this is the place. You order at the counter and the burgers will be cooked for you! The wait was about 10-15min and the fries were smoking hot too. Highly highly recommended! read more

Texas Hamburger Palace is another one of those off the beaten path, underrated places. Surprisingly it has been around for 30 plus years. They have to be doing something right to stay open that long in a city with so much competition. The location is situated in an old strip center. We came on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait to order. The menu has quite a few selections to satisfy anyone's taste buds. The owner was present and very nice as was his staff. Like I do at most places on my first visit, I ordered a regular cheeseburger with fries. It came with the usual lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, mayo and mustard. We received our order not too long after and just by sight alone I knew it was going to be delicious. The ratio of meat to bun and veggies was spot on. The bun itself was nice and soft and held up to all the toppings. If I had to gripe about anything, I would just want thinner slices of onions. The fries were slightly warm, but there was a huge group who ordered ahead of me so I assume they just made a huge batch and I got the one that were sitting there. Not a deal breaker for me as the burger was outstanding. We had jalapeno poppers to share and they were piping hot and delicious. I will definitely be back in the area. There is nothing fancy about this place or any crazy burger toppings, but if you want a good old fashioned burger, check this place out! read more

Overall Rating: 4/5 Location: 3.5/5 Taste/Variety: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value for Money: 4/5 Portion Size: Adequate It's a place where the simplicity of a well-made burger, like their standout Jalapeño, speaks volumes, and the rustic, down-to-earth decor mirrors the straightforward yet satisfying menu options. Great place! I've never had a bad burger from here. They are a good size (1/3 lb). And the cashier actually knew the size of the burger! It's really important so I know whether to order a single or double patty. (It's a pet peeve of mine when they don't know. I made the mistake of ordering a double patty at Jax Grill, only to find out that each patty was 1/2 lb). Service was also very quick, and drinks are self serve, so it's a good place for a quick lunch. read more
