Terrible customer service from this shop. The place looks extremely disorganized and unprofessional. They literally have the shop jam packed with junk. I went there attempting to use my groupon two days in a row, and both days the smog tech, apparently the only guy there that does them, went home early. The first day I ran into him as he was leaving, about 20 minutes before 5pm which is close of business, and he made the most unprofessional remark I've ever heard regarding performing the smog. He sarcastically claimed the smog machine was broken, and when I asked him if I should cancel my voucher then, he changed his response to maybe it will work tomorrow. The way he said it was unprofessional, no sense of respect for the customer. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. It was disrespectful to the time of the individual, and it was disrespectful given we were within his working hours. Ppl have real life situations to deal with, and professionalism, reliability, and respect for one's time goes a long way. The following day he left super early, even earlier! I was there an hour before close and he was already gone. His coworkers inside the gas station apparently didn't even know he had left..smh. This guy is a joke. I didn't catch his name, but the guy was the older asian tech that drives the Mercedes Benz truck. Two days in a row this guy just refuses to abide by the hours of business posted. I haven't encountered that from any other smog shop in all the years I've been driving out here. Traded out my groupon, went to another shop, and they delivered the reliable service I've come to expect from the professionals in our area. Avoid this shop. This guy is a joke, the shop is a mess, and if they had any sense of respect for their own business they'd fire this bum.. he's the laziest pos in the Bay Area. Berkeley has an amazing shop on San Pablo Ave and Gilman that is reliable, dependable, and cheaper than this slack shop. read more

Despite his equiptment problems first time around, he gave me a discount upon my return the next day which I thought was very fair. The young man ( I believe his name is Rushdey) was very nice and the smog check itself took maybe 10 minutes. Didn't even finish reading a chapter of my book. I will certainly be returning next time I need a smog check. As an aside, I had mistakenly read the Yelp page and quoted to Rushdey the price I thought it should be. Rather than argue with me he simply said to print out what I saw and he'd honor it. I can't speak to their actual service, but I took my car here for a STAR certified smog inspection based on Yelp reviews and the several signs out front attesting that they were STAR certified. This station is *not* STAR certified, so if that's the test you need, you will be wasting your time going here. read more

Frank is absolutely the greatest smog tech in the area. On top of being honest, hardworking and easy to get along with, he's really just in it for his customers. He got me in immediately (although, maybe call ahead, I'm sure thanks to his great reputation he's going to start to get really busy) and he was great conversation. SHADY PLACE!!!! Save yourself a trip. I came in here and the man with white hair and a heavy accent attended quickly as I was the only one there. As I arrived I asked him how much the smog test would cost, he answered jokingly "a million dollars" and still did not answer my question so I asked again and he told me my total would be 78. I then told him I had a 30 dollar coupon and he started changing the price never giving me an exact total (should have been 70+ 8.25 for cert. if he was being honest) then he told me with the coupon it would $58+ more like $60 something... what?!?! Hmmm strange, so 78-30= 60ish ... That sounds shady and scam like. He told me the next time I come he would discount $10, I told him I would not be coming back because the price was inaccurate, so he then charged 58.25 instead of 60. Wow..... This is probably my fault for not asking in the beginning how much he would charge me. But for some reason I still have some trust and faith in humanity so I just assumed it was going to be the usual $35 to $50 price range. So I called to see if they would do a smog check on my diesel Jetta. He said yes, and I went there. Again...I should've asked how much he was going to charge me. This dude with slick gray hair and an accent greeted me. He barely took around ten minutes with the car and said he was done. He tried to engage in sweet talk in the meantime, which was annoying. And then...come time to pay...it was $78! Wtf?! I told him that was very expensive even for a diesel. And then he says..."pay me whatever you can, pay me now or pay me later...blah blah blah..."but in the same breath asks for my credit card. I still continue to tell him that his price is just ridiculous and he says, "oh next time I'll take $30 off ok honey? Just remind me." Uh...next time, I'll go find myself another smog place. Shop around and don't overpay here for a smog check. I was quoted $60+ for a 2012 car. When I asked if he can do it for $40 because other shops in the area do it for that price he made it seem like I was crazy and no one would do it for that price.
