The best smog shop in Richmond and I will say the whole bay are. He has really good pricing even with today's economy, if your car fails smog he will charge you really low, I brought on my first time a mustang that I did not knew it had BBK1 headers and he started doing the smog and found them out and told me why it would fail and he only charged me 10$ that's crazy other shops would not care and charge me 80$ like advance smog on San Pablo ("TRASH SMOG SHOP") . Well then he guided me and showed me all the websites that I can search and look for the headers that I had in my car and see if those are legal in CA, well after a few days I did my search and brought the part number of the headers and I was able to pass smog clean and he only charged me 65 or something pretty affordable. And he talked to me really good and gave me a lot of knowledge. Now a few months later I when back with another car. Pumm he started to check the codes and stuff like that and found out that I had like a few codes that the machine was not able to read because the battery had been disconnected before, he gave me a paper with instructions and like how long should I drive it, how to drive etc etc so all the sensor or like monitors would start ready, after I drove it for like an hour I came back and pumm the car did passed smog, we had another really great conversation he was giving me again more advices on what to do with my life etc etc. I less worlds I really recommend this smog shop and I hope he gets a lot of more clients, he already has me, I will try to refer him to my family members and friends. This is a tough review to write because I have real respect for what the owner is building. He seems like a great guy, and the shop looks like a solid, honest operation. I also admire the effort he's made to involve his daughter in the business. But I want to share my experience in the hope that it's ultimately helpful. When I arrived, his daughter was working the front, possibly after school, and unfortunately the interaction was pretty rough. Everything I said was met with attitude or a negative response. I tried to stay open and respectful, but it became clear I couldn't be around that kind of energy. I decided to leave before getting the smog check done. The owner was busy working on another car at the time, but as I was pulling out, he ran over to catch me and ask what was going on. I appreciated that, and I told him honestly about my experience. He seemed surprised and genuinely concerned. I hope he takes this feedback in the spirit it's intended. I mean everything I said that day, and everything I'm writing here, with respect--for him, for the business, and for his daughter. Failed due to employee lack of knowledge and not due to car issue. Richmond Star Smog actually told me last year to go back to where the car failed and re test for free armed with proper intel rather than have it smogged here at more cost to me. I've not written a review for a hot minute but this place deserves it. I came in on a Monday afternoon for a smog check and was in and out in about 15 minutes. Very affordable price compared to what I paid 2 years ago. Vince was super friendly from the get-go and even went above and beyond to check for any oil leaks + fill in my tires. It turns out, my engine oil had been leaking for god knows how long and was on the brink of being empty! Had I not known, my engine oil would have run out, damaged my engine, and would have cost me lots of $$$$ to fix. After the smog check, I headed to Fahrenheit Auto (right next door, also highly recommend) to get it checked out and fixed.
