Where do you go when you're looking for a fresh batch of pineapple's? I am told JD's Super Market…read more It is a typical super market like one you might find in San Antonio, TX . I was told to get there early because the pineapple's go fast. Score...I found a stack of pineapples to choose from and more! Pork skins is what you normally find in a San Antonio super market. However, the pork skins in JD's Super Market are massive. Never seen such large pork skins in my life. Also, I found some Mexican drinks like Agua Fresca (refreshing drink made with fresh fruits blended or squeezed into water, often sweetened with sugar) and horchata (creamy drink made from rice, cinnamon, and vanilla, popular in Mexico). There were a variety of sweet treats on the shelf as well as grab and go that you do not typically see in other super markets. I imagine if you looking for exotic spices or unusual goods, this is the market for you.

But it's a solid grocery store when you really need it. Maybe I've just gotten lucky? With all that said, it's fine. It's a grimy spot in basically a food desert. My household will come through every now and again for odds, ends, and the occasional Mexican Coke. There's a big section of Latin spices and seasonings. You can get dried hibiscus and chamomile flowers if you're looking to make your own tea blend. The cashiers are definitely lackadaisical but I've never seen one be rude. Lots of items are definitely more expensive than HEB, but it does offer being closer and on my way to/from work. Hubs has ordered food from the restaurant inside and says it's pretty good. I haven't tried yet.

This review will be useful to EV drivers; everyone else, check out the other reviews of the inside shopping experience. I've been driving an electric car in Austin for 10+ years now. While we've had pretty decent Level 2 (aka "Destination Charger") charging station coverage around town offered through ChargePoint, Electrify America, and Tesla for a while now, the Level 3 DC Fast Charging (refill to 80% in 30 mins or less) options for non-Tesla drivers has always been limited. When I find a reliable, well-maintained fast charger with CCS1 connector that works for my non-Tesla vehicle, I'm thrilled. So far, I've charged twice at this ABIA Food and Fuel, once after dropping a friend off for his departing flight, and once when I found myself downtown and needing to quickly top off before heading to San Antonio. Both times, the charger was in working order, the ChargePoint app accurately reflected availability, and I was able to be in & out in less than a half hour. This ChargePoint station is part of the Austin Energy charging network, so the rate is the lowest you'll find in the Austin area, $0.21 per minute, no surge pricing ever. Yay!

This is located by the cell phone lot, about a minute from the terminal. Waiting here is a great…read moreoption if you are picking someone up at ABIA. It sure beats driving around the airport burning gas. There are gas pumps and a large convenience store stocked with everything you may need including beer and wine. They get bonus points for having very clean basuras.
