It was chill enough for them to enjoy the ride. Just make sure to pack water for them since there is no shade on the river. It was an easy ride to the lot where the crew was already waiting to take us to the launch point. It was an epic 3 hours with stunning views, interesting stories and wildlife spotting (mostly bald eagles). Plus you can bring your own...ahem..refreshments. At the end of the float, the van was already waiting for us and we were back on our way quickly. The logistics were flawless. It's a 30 min drive to get to the start of the rafting trip, then a 40 min drive to get back. Location is convenient, and the river was not too crazy. We went on Labor Day weekend, and the crew we went with wasn't too overwhelming or crowded. Definitely wear sandals instead of hiking shoes! You can jump in the water, and the sun will dry you up. Worth a visit if you're in the area!

Our group included experienced fly fishers with their own gear as well as relative newbies and ALL were treated to just the right experience. The skilled casters were given tight targets that often yielded fish. The first timers were shown how to throw a dry and consistently put on fish, too. The guides had two in each boat and brought lunch for all. They provided rods, waders and flies, which they changed and tied on gladly and often. We fished the Wilson Bridge down to South Pass and Jenny Lake dam to Pacific Creek, two very different and very productive stretches. Neither was difficult fishing. Caught plenty of smaller fast water cutthroats on the lower section and big (BIG) cutthroats and whitefish on the crystal clear upper dam-fed section. Our group has a lot of experience and familiarity with fly fishing, and all of us thought the experience with Snake River Anglers was excellent -- true fly fishing advice and guiding for the advanced angler, and helpful tutoring and teaching to the newcomer. Never intimidating. Nor ever underwhelming. These guys got it going on. We fished dries, steamers and some nymphs on indicators in late April.

We decided to beat the crowd and arrived in time for one of the first boats that leaves the landing…read moreat 7 AM. Bring your parking pass if you have it otherwise there will be a charge just to access the area. Once you arrive at the boat landing, parking is free. From there you can either hike a portion of the lake and take the boat back, simply do a hike, or take a boat ride/hike, or just ride the boat! There is a charge for riding the boat with discounts available for kids and seniors. There are only facilities at the boat landing and once you leave you're on your own! You're constantly reminded that you are in bear country so bring some spray, bug repellent, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks, as there are no amenities in the wilderness areas. Hikes and climbing opportunities exist however, for the more advanced area permits may be required so check before you leave with Park Rangers. We were very happy to have started early as when we returned by noon the landing was exceptionally crowded, and parking was nonexistent. There is shopping, some concessions, and beautiful area to explore just around the boat landing area. This is a fantastic stop, but again emphasize. Be here early!

He was informative and the boat held some great discussions throughout the trip, which makes it more enjoyable. I was imagining more rapids, but there was a lot more slow parts of the river. The big Kahuna was the one rapid that managed to get everyone except our guide wet. They were taking pictures there which you can purchase online or go to their shop and buy them for 20% off. We even thread the needle towards the end between a couple large rocks. It's worth doing a small 8 person boat. I'd even go in May or June to get more rapids because going at the beginning of August the water flow slows way down losing some of the rapids. They do offer water jackets you can put on under the life vest when you get there. The water was cool but not cold enough to need a wetsuit in August unless you can't handle cool temps. They do offer all that when you Check-in to rent too. If you have young kid, 4th grade or older they let them sit at the head of the boat. They have to be strong enough to hold on going over the rapids.

We had a great time on the float, it is such a unique and special experience! We didn't see any moose, but we did see plenty of fish and even a mother duck and her ducklings! After our float, the staff came and picked us up promptly...it was so easy! I can't recommend this company enough if you want to try something different than the usual Teton related, not as active tourist activities. We felt like we were immersed in the landscape and it was worth every penny.
