Located on Roosevelt Row, Taco Boy's has a parking lot. It's not big, but I found a spot on a Thursday evening. Ambiance (3.5/5): Taco Boy's is a little chaotic. You order at the counter and then they call your name when your food is ready. It's not a large taco joint, and it's a popular taco joint. Which means you'll see a lot of people cycling in and out, as a lot place to-go orders too. Not the most calm experience, but not an issue for me. You'll also come out smelling like meat lol. They have an open kitchen, and it smells fantastic. The downside is that it sticks to your clothes, too. Service (4/5): Service isn't a big part of the experience, but for what it is, it's pretty smooth. They took my order quickly, I paid relatively quickly, and my food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Drinks (5/5): I'm a sucker for agua frescas. Taco Boy's delivers. They had four flavors available. I went with the pineapple/mango. It's served in a large cup. Good stuff. Food (5/5): I wasn't terribly hungry so I got a small barbacoa quesadilla. Outside of quesadillas, they have tacos, vampiros, and burritos. Your choice of meat including usual suspects like carne asada, al pastor, chicken, etc. They grill all of their food right in front of you and it's absolutely delicious. Fresh off the grill. Flavorful. Well marinated. Quality meats and ingredients. At the complimentary salsa bar, you can stock up on various sauces, limes, cucumbers, etc. I can't wait to get back to have a heartier meal and try out more of their items. Hands-down, the best Mexican food I've had in Phoenix so far (after a year and a half).

So I had read a positive review about testal and decided to make the 30min drive to check it out. What a big disappointment I got there at 1:30pm on a Friday to avoid the lunch crowd. Perfect timing no line walked right up to the counter ready to order after reviewing the menu on the website. The young lady wearing a south mountain high school t-shirt at the counter ignores me for 6mins not once making eye contact. The whole time she is standing directly in front of me so she knows I'm there. I finally get her attention to place an order with an upset look on her face finally acknowledges me and says "what do you want ?" No good afternoon, how can I help you? So I proceed with my order my main reason for going 30mins out of my way was to try the gorditas and chicarron burrito, only to be told "we're out." So I order a chile relleno burrito instead. Now I'm waiting for my order no one else has come in after me thinking this should be quick. A few minutes pass all the food prep staff are in the back talking having a good time. Finally another customer walks in about 15minutes after me. Their order is taken right away and they stand next to me so we begin chatting to pass the time. A few minutes go by and they notice no food is being made as they have a setup similar to subway where you watch your food being made. I checked the time on my receipt 22mins have passed, 7mins for the couple behind me. The gentleman advises the young man behind the counter that they are on a tight schedule and have to get going really soon. After a few minutes the food prep staff comes back to the line and starts to prepare food. An order number is called out and it's their number! I immediately do the math and realize 31mins since I placed my order passed at which point I ask the young lady for a refund. She doesn't know how to process a refund, offers no apology for the delay and asks the young man for help. This is when the customer service finally begins he asks the reason for the request and I show him the time on the receipt and the fact that customers that came in 15minutes after me already are eating. He immediately apologized and offered to rush my order which I watch them roll the burrito in less than 60 seconds. I'm giving 2 stars for the tortilla which is really good. Testal missed out on the other 3stars because of lack of training for the young lady who seemed to not want to be there and the fact some menu items were not available. In the end if I want another chile relleno burrito I'll go to Filibertos, get my food in 4mins or less and twice the portion for the dollar value. read more

My friend was here celebrating her birthday and they cut her off she was not even drunk. DO NO SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE GO TO CHON!! It's veered service and better service. The owner ain't shit. Testal is a must-try in Arizona. The burritos are incredible, especially the homemade tortillas -- you can truly taste the difference. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.
