This is one of my favorite places to visit! From the first time I ordered to now, their service is always top tier. Though the music is a little on the darker side, for me, (it's alternative) the vegan food is amazing. I ALWAYS get the Birria tacos. My guy has gotten a spicy burrito and said that it was the best burrito he's ever had. He is nowhere near vegan. The burrito had him sweating but again, he loved it. I tasted it and though I like spicy, I would prefer to enjoy the food than die while taking bites. A coworker of mine had their nachos and she loved it. Hmmm....this is a hard one. FOOD: I love vegan food and its all vegan! I ordered two tacos, one of them was outstanding, the other was okay. Upon returning, I ordered two of the previously tasty taco and loved them so much! AMBIANCE: The decor is extremely dark, literally and metaphorically. The "music" was so loud it was hard to talk or think . A man was either suffering or just screaming over a malfunctioning electric guitar. Others may love it. I found it distasteful and irritating (maybe I'm aging). The second time I visited, I think the same man was still screaming over the speakers. SERVICE: They were kind and accommodating. VERDICT: While the food was good, I personally cannot handle the loud screaming and thrashing man on the speakers, nor the uncanny decor. The second time I visited, I wore earplugs and could still hear faint screams, scratching and static-like noises. Welcome to Terror Tacos. I'm not vegan (in fact a devout carnivore), but this was some amazing food and large portions. The items they've designated as spicy have a good kick, but are not overwhelmingly hot. Have been there at least 4 times since moving to Shaw neighborhood in March 2022. Wow what can I say! This place went above and beyond my expectations. An all vegan Mexican taco restaurant?! Sign me up! I'm vegetarian but I love experiencing vegan food in different states. First off the ambiance was incredible, the horror vibe really shined as soon as we walked in! We were a bit sad that because it's Sunday, they only had their brunch menu to eat from but not to worry, the items did not disappoint! My gf and I ordered: Evil Ash Burrito: this was probably the best thing we ordered, the grilled seitan steak and tofu scrambled mixed with potatoes and avocado were amazing and to die for. Death by Stereo: this quesadilla came with a tofu scramble and birria seitan and was served with a birria sauce. Amazing as well! We wish we could have tried the birria tacos but that wasn't on the brunch menu! Overall the serving sizes are huge, the items are flavorful and the vibe is dark and haunting! Thanks to my fellow yelp elites for speaking so highly of this place and putting it on my radar. Between that and looking at pictures of their food, this place has been a bookmark now for a while. What's funny, is I only recently found out they are vegan. Though I'm not vegan/vegetarian myself this didn't deter me from wanting to try Terror Tacos in the slightest....and I'm glad it didn't. The décor and vibe of this place had me already sold walking in. From the horror themed artwork, to the metal music playing I was in love. The food made me fall in love even more. The tacos are good sized. I ordered 3, and struggled to even start much less finish my third. The Texas BBQ massacre is to die for. I loved the spicy/tangy bbq sauce and the pita shell. I also highly recommend the double diablo and the carnage asada. Definitely cannot wait to go back and try more tacos, and try a burrito! Imo St Louis is really lacking on killer taco spots. It's scary how fast Terror Tacos has become a staple of the St. Louis foodie scene! Seriously, you hear about this incredible, vegan restaurant non-stop on social media. The FOMO was too much for me to handle. First off, let's talk branding. They really nailed it. Their bright, bold pink graphics are eye catching and really set the tone for the whole experience. Which is a super unique one. When you walk into Terror Tacos the push and pull of colors and metal music is dizzying (in a good way!) I love the fact that they have flipped the script on vegan stereotypes. It's not all sunshine and farm-to-table markets. And the food backs up the bold choice on branding. While I could see the some folx being turned off or uneasy about going to Terror Tacos, the food makes all the noise fade away. I didn't have many menu items when I visited Terror Tacos because my friends and I were on a massive taco crawl throughout the city of St. Louis. This was mid-crawl, and I was already starting to feel my belly push against my pants in an uncomfortable state of fullness. But alas. The aromas of Terror Tacos were too alluring whilst standing inside reading the menu on my phone. My boyfriend ordered the Carnage-Asada Taco which is house-made peppered seitan "carne asada" taco. He ate it too quickly for me to take a photo of (what an Yelp fail.) And since Terror Tacos opened, I have had my sights set on the Double Diablo Taco. This two layer burrito had Flour tortilla with green chili, black beans, and cheese, wrapped on a hard shell taco filled with seasoned veggie grounds, chipotle cheese, shredded lettuce, and Sour Cream. Here's the thing about vegan restaurants. Some people will not even attempt to eat the food because they think it's "weird" or for the sake of saying they only eat meat. But the food served by Terror Tacos is so full of incredible flavor, that you would absolutely never know that there is no real meat in any of the dishes. It's incredible. The texture is on point. The flavors are as loud as the pink paint dripping down their walls. Had I taken someone who had no knowledge of Terror Tacos to the restaurant, I can promise they'd never know it was completely vegan. Was stoked to learn of this all vegan taco spot. There were a lot of options and each of them had unique flavor profile. Pros: Tacos, burritos, nachos, bowls - plenty of choices and it was nice to not have to sort thru a menu to determine what I could eat, as the entire menu was vegan. The tacos were outstanding. Packed with filling and flavor. You'll be hard pressed to find a better vegan taco anywhere like the ones here. They will be hard to top. Horror/ goth themed dining room. Cool concept. The place was exceptionally clean. Friendly food runner, was greeted warmly when we walked in. Cons: This is a big one - the music that day was deafening death metal. I don't have a problem with death metal, but it was obnoxiously loud to the point where it was nightclub like. I wouldn't listen to my favorite band at that volume. We were unable to converse and we both left with a headache. The volume was so loud it seemed like back of house forgot the front speakers were on full blast. In between tracks was sweet relief of silence. Had to order off a QR code on the phone. This meant I couldn't make special requests like holding a sauce. It's also hard to see a menu on a freaking phone. Of course there's a tip option, but you have to order your own food and bus your own table. Why you want 25% for that? They were out of almost every beer but three. We ordered an IPA and it was warm. Chips were out of a bag. Shame because the salsa was on point. $60 for six tacos, two beers, chips and salsa. This included iPad ordering and the worst dining room experience in recent memory. I'd get takeout here because the tacos are good and vegan. I have cold beer and better chips at home. This is a great spot for vegan Mexican in a large variety of "meats"! The service is also wonderful as the staffer tried to get me to order less due to there large portion sizes. The only reason I give it a 4 out of 5 is due to the ambiance. The place is pretty hardcore on Halloween vibes. While that's the preference of the owner, I think if they did the same type of food under a different branding it would attract more people. read more

I was pretty excited to try Terror Tacos, a welcome addition to South Grand. It's an all vegan taco joint. The online ordering was hassle free. I checked out through Apple Pay which simplifies it further. I ordered the seitan birria tacos and the folded quesadilla. I really liked the tacos and the dipping sauce. The seitan was full of flavor. I was a big fan of the red cabbage topping. The quesadilla got soggy by the time I got home. I only live about a mile away but it didn't quite make it. However, the flavors were great. I couldn't tell that the sour cream and chipotle cheese were vegan, they tasted just like regular sour cream and cheese. I hope they add some outdoor seating when the weather gets better so I can give this quesadilla another go. There is no seating inside at this time and there is ample space to keep your distance. Cute location, minimal seating options indoor (4 or 5 tables) and outdoor (a couple small tables), snag 1 of the 2 window seats if you can for a nice view if the street. Staff was helpful and pointed out a table opening up so we could snag it and get a break from the heat outside after walking around a few hours it was definitely welcomed to have a seat in the A/C. Ordered a fright of tacos +1 additional taco to sample and share between my husband and I. Also had chips and salsa, salsa was mild. Food came out within a few minutes even though the place was definitely busy with a steady stream of customers in line. The 2 tofu tacos were very spicy and the seitan carne asada taco had a heat to it not necessarily as spicy. Also wanted to try the poloze but it was off the menu for the summer.
