Another fantastic bakery, literally steps away from another one (A Bread Affair). The market has yet more, all of which looked excellent, but we were pastried and breaded out for the day. We bought yet another scone here, a mini loaf of fig and walnut bread, and a sweet bread topped with blueberries. We've only been there twice, but the fact that i was willing to try and find parking there on a Sunday at noon attests to how awesome it is. This is a must visit for us on a Vancouver trip. I heard Terra Breads are so good but never get a chance to try. We took our visitors to Granville Island for sight-seeing and passed by Terra Breads. I had to stop and buy some breads.... But, not want to spoil our appetite for dinner too much, we got Stecca which made with rosemary and olive oil, it had a very savoury taste. So good..... The blueberry bread is incredible - this has become my favorite pastry ever. The bread texture is chewy and perfect, the bottom has a slight crunch, and the white chocolate chips add a perfect touch. I think I ate six of them in two days. Highly recommend! read more

I don't know how some people resist the urge of walking past a bakery when smelling fresh baked bread. I'm *not* some people, and I couldn't resist. I stopped...twice. The first time, I just I stopped to look at all the baked goods. Pre-planning snacks/ meals is an imperative part of my days on vacation. I decided on the Roasted Red Pepper and Spinach Focaccia Bread would be my choice. It was still a little early, and we were full from Clam Chowder Pot Pie (see review from A La Mode). We walked around and toured the island. But before leaving, we stopped by for a taste of that bread. We arrived to Terra Breads to find the worst--SOLD OUT. Luckly for us, another batch was in the oven. After the longest 8 minutes of my entire vacation I was rewarded with the most delicious focaccia bread I have ever eaten. The Market has no shortage of excellent choices for snacks or entire meals; however, the Roasted Red Pepper and Spinach Focaccia Bread from Terra Breads was hands-down our pick of the day. read more

I don't understand how anyone can walk by a display of delicious carby heaven and not get anything. Everything looked amazing from the scones to the loafs of bread. I ordered a blueberry tart and a fig and ginger scone. I liked the blueberry tart more - they were generous with the blueberry and it was very flaky and buttery. The scone was also good, but it would've been better if it had more ginger pieces in it. read more

This artisanal baker is one of the exceptional vendors of the Granville Market. We came on an early Tuesday, planning to have breakfast in the market, to try this and that. Terra Breads made me forget that I was supposed to save my stomach for trying other goodies. Every single item displayed screamed freshness, creativity and deliciousness.We had the blueberry brioche, intensely flavored, chunky compote on a bread that crackled like a toasted crumpet. It was amazing in texture and taste. My friend had the croissant, which was buttery and flaky, and we split the grape bread, which was one of the most interesting breads I've ever had, the slightly sweetish, tart grapes contrasting well with the focaccia like bread and the crunch in the nuts. Service here was efficient and sweet. Note that Terra Breads does sell to Urban Fare and also to Whole Foods downtown. I saw their stuff in Urban Fare first and was elated when I saw the greater variety of pastries here. Having seen the items in Whole Foods, I also think the turnover here is better for some of the pastries. However, you don't get the wonderful ambience of the market, nor the view when you come here and take your purchases to munch on in the food court. read more

Terra Bread is certainly a good bakery, however, I feel like a lot of their products are too "clunky" for my liking. Just tried their whole wheat loaf and it was just disappointing. It doesn't have the nice fluffiness on the inside. It tasted terribly heavy. The cookies were too rich (Yes, even for a cookie). I prefer my cookie to be more smooth. A good bakery unfortunately not fated to be my favorite. read more

Terra Breads provided one of my favorite food experiences during my Vancouver vacation. Absolutely everything I tried was excellent, no wonder their booth always has a line. Spinach asiago focaccia, chocolate macaroon, lemon blueberry oat scone, chocolate chip cookie. Too bad we had such a packed food itinerary, I was tempted to try so many more of their offerings. Our favorite was definitely the spinach asiago focaccia - I've had similar things at plenty of other bakeries and restaurants and they've been mainly bready, more of a side that needs a more savory accompaniment. Terra Breads' version is everything I've always wanted spinach asiago focaccia to be: tons of cheese and olive oil, it could have made a meal on its own. Wonderful! read more

LOVE, Love, love Terra Breads. My fave is the grape focaccia bread which is a sweet, delicious treat. The bread is flat, studded with juicy grapes, and dusted with powdered sugar. A friend had recommended I try it, but when I asked for grape focaccia I was corrected by the person behind the counter. Technically, she said it wasn't focaccia. I've returned again and tried a blueberry white chocolate bread as well. Insanely good as the long lines will attest. read more

In just 2 visits, I tasted enough to know that you just can't go wrong getting anything from Terra Breads. The Belgian chocolate brownie was my favorite. It wasn't too sweet, the texture was perfectly light and moist, and the mixture of hazelnuts and walnuts added a fantastic crunch. The chocolate macaroon and chocolate cupcake with a pinch of salt were also very moist and delicious. If you're not into chocolate, the scones are a great option. If you get there at the right moment after opening, definitely grab yourself a loaf of bread. We got the french loaf right out of the oven. It was so fresh, that there were huge swirls of steam coming from it as soon as I tore into it. The combination of the crusty outside and warm, soft inside was excellent! Bread does not get better than this! I would definitely recommend Terra Breads if you're looking for any baked good, whether it's bread or something sweet. read more

I LOVE TERRA BREADS! I go the location on 5th Ave. I always pick up the sourdough epi, it is delicious with anything, especially PB & J, my fave! The blueberry bread is also one of my favourites, but they do taste better if you toast it up a little bit. I've tried the raspberry scone and it wasn't that great. Very crumbly and a bit to dry (even for a scone) and it didn't really have a flavour. The chocolate and regular macaroons are delicious. The Italian cheese sticks are also very good. The apricot tart was pretty good as well. If you like all things rustic, like I do, this is the place to go. Love it! read more

Omg! Their almond croissant is one of the best I've ever had...so heavenly. It had a nice layer of marzipan in the center and the outside had different layers of crispy almonds and other crispy goodness. I wish I had tried their other delicious looking things! Two words -- Yum--mee. My aunt gave us a box of bread crackers for Christmas, and I seriously wish we had a location in Edmonton. My boyfriend and I are slowly rationing the last portions of our crackers so that we may enjoy them a bit longer, but alas, the end is near and soon there will be nothing left but crumbs. Now I'm going to have to demand she send more, or just come down there myself. We got the pecan fruit crisps, which are really good with either marmalade or cheese. They're great for breakfast with tea, or just a light snack. And it's healthy too, with all those nuts and dried fruits in the artisan bread they make. I still can't believe I didn't discover Terra Breads myself when I lived in Vancouver. Now I'm kicking myself for it. YAY!! Delicious cinnamon bun with walnuts and blueberry bread!!! I went to Terra Breads with a friend from Chicago and we decided to get a snack. I was thoroughly impressed with the cinnamon bun with walnuts. The dough was great. The cinnamon was delicious. Only issue was the stickiness, but that is half the fun... Should you be lacking a stone hearth oven in your kitchen, Terra Breads bakery will take care of your artisan bread and baked goods needs. This is truly the way bread should be baked, with time and love and in an ancient, giant stone oven, how fantastic is that? I generally stay away from the baked goods in an attempt to continue baking these things for myself, but I have had the pleasure of a cookie or two and they are certainly worth duplicating (or not...!) at home. The breads are a treat for me and absolutely worth standing in line for, the earlier you arrive at the market the better as they do sell out of their favourite items, particularly the tarts, sweets, pastries and french loaves. Everything is baked fresh daily with no added leveners, shortening, eggs, dairy, fats or oils, the way it should be! Their rustic tarts are delicious as well and they sell out quicly too on some days. I also like their artisan breads. You can tell from the taste that their baked goods are made with quality ingriedients. This is a place I go to every time I'm in town. Omg, falling in love with a cookie as I leave this review. The salted truffle chocolate cookie is like nothing I've ever had! It is soo decadent and true to the flavor. The salt cuts through the dark chocolate, which creates a great balance. For $2, the cookie is a little small and makes it slightly on the pricey side. I'm telling you, on your day off, sit with a box of those and a great book and you will not be moving for hours! It seems that when they are making it, bits of white chocolate chunks are mixed in the dough, so as it bakes it melts into these pockets..and when you bite into it, its ridiculously blueberry-esque, white chocolately & powdered sugar-y goodness. OMG, makes me wish I lived in Vancouver,BC its that good! We had their butter croissants which was very buttery, flaky and perfectly baked, also got some Macaroons, which were almost as good as the ones my mother used to make! Thirdly, we had their Cinnamon brioche buns, those were good, but would of prefered it with more cinnamon on it. The Italian Cheese sticks were good choice as well, and were good to munch on while driving. Lastly, we got some Multi grain Organic Bread, crunchy on the outside, and nice soft bread inside that was perfect! The employees here were very helpful, and must say we will be back! read more

We stopped by Granville Island to be tourists and discovered this bakery. We bought their blueberry/lemon scone, pecan cinnamon muffin, blueberry bread and apple focaccia to eat for breakfast before heading back to the States and they were all delicious. I've been craving Terra Breads for a long time since everyone says it's the "bread place in Vancouver".... so I eyed a Blueberry Bread with White Chocolate that I had to get.... and a chocolate macaroon as well! The Blueberry Bread was soft and moist, unlike some danishes with sugary garnish that hardens the whole pastry. Unfortunately I couldn't taste the white chocolate but it was still full of buttery goodness! The chocolate macaroon was loaded with chocolate flavour. It reminds me of a double chocolate chip cookie I can buy at Tim Hortons or Cookies of Course. As delicious as it was, I think I might stick to the traditional ones. read more

I can understand all the rave reviews about their blueberry bread! This place is located inside the Granville Public Market. All their breads are beautifully displayed behind the glass counter. We ordered the blueberry bread and a small piece of pizza. Both were really really good. Though I was not in a mood to eat something sweet, I just loved the blueberry bread. It had the right amount of sweetness, without the overpowering sweetness to it. The bread was crunchy and soft at the same time. Love it! This place is a chain but i LOVED it! Much better than Panera bread in the states. You can tell their food is quality and I love the flavor combination. Their soup of the day tends to be on point and their pork panini special was to die for. Great mix of ingredients that blended perfectly together for a very complex taste.
