Here is my original review......Called Terminix when I discovered that a group of birds had taken up residence in the soffit of my roof. The agent who came for the estimate was helpful but that's where the customer service ended. Had to wait 10 days for an appointment, due to a vacation, but I never heard from the trapper and, on the scheduled day, no one showed. I received a call at 5 PM telling me they had underestimated a job they were on. He agreed to reschedule for 3 days later at 10. The time came and went and still no show. This time I reached out to him asking where he was and once again I got the "unexpected " answer. There can only be two reasons for never being on time. Either they're not very good at their jobs or they over-schedule to make as much money as possible with no regard to the customer's time. The job was finally done a week later only after I insisted on getting the first time of the day, thereby eliminating the "underestimated " excuse. By that time, the birds had long abandoned their nest and the job became a much easier one. Since there was no longer an issue of removal, just cleanup and rebuild, I thought they would lower the exorbitant cost. Silly me. The bill posted today. So I waited a month to pay full price for half a job. UPDATE - The Terminix Corporate social media folks responded to my post and assured me that my concerns would be sent on to the office that did the original work. After hearing nothing from the Ronkonkoma office, I tried calling and was told that the manager had received my info and would call me. Still nothing! So here's my takeaway - avoid the Ronkonkoma Terminix office at all costs unless you don't care about cancelled appointments, no communication and rigid pricing. Now we can add a manager - Andrew Steinberg - who ignores customer concerns. I give up! UPDATE AS OF SEPTEMBER 6 - I'm happy to report that the issue has been resolved. Andrew Steinberg, manager of the Ronkonkoma office, reached out and was extremely helpful. Not only did he deal with the problem of the technicians who did not communicate or show up on time, he offered a 25% rebate to make up for the delays and inconvenience. I am extremely pleased not just with the rebate, but also with the support I received from him in our conversation. read more

Terrible experience, stay away! They make you sign an expensive yearly contract, place some bait stations and then do nothing. They said they would make service calls every 3 months, but did not. Their inexperienced technician didn't try to find the source and pointed to wood damage that was dry rot, not termite damage. Needless to say, the termites were not dealt with. When we called for a refund, Kelly was very rude and said that it was OUR responsibility to call them for the 3 months service calls! Just had an experienced exterminator come and he immediately found the source in some outside shingles. I moved 6 months ago and had my services transfered to my new home. They came twice to do the treatment. Now I have ants all over the house. When I called nobody knew what happened to the transfer and only switched the mosquito pest control. An hour on the phone and transfered six times and nobody helps. The technician who did my initial termite inspection, checked only 10 of 17 bait stations. I called the company who sent out another person who inspected all 17. He filed a false report which indicated that he had replaced the baits in 5 or 6 stations. NONE were replaced. This yearly inspection costs approximately $450. They don't do what they say they do. I'm not sure that their termite prevention method even works! I called the customer service number to complain. They were supposed to get back to me. No one did. It's a scam. The guy they had come do a termite inspection on my house basically sold us a song about the damage we had from termites and how our current pest control company's system wasn't working. We had two second opinions done by other companies and both said they saw no damage and that our system was working well. They're wanted to charge us 400+ for a treatment we didn't need and a new contract for their own termite system that they claimed was better, as they said our current one "isn't even used anymore". He was quick to point out damage we had from supposed termites, but two other companies and a contractor both said it wasn't damage at all. They also both said the bait system we have now is the best and is what everyone else uses as well. They refused to spray for insects unless I purchased a $1095 rodent plan which consisted of putting a door on our crawl space. The salesman that came out to check, cancelled the insect spray service I had scheduled without telling me. I called the company and they said sorry but we're unable to do the service. I called today to cancel my service, my annual contract is ending. What a hassle. They insist I call back after the last monthly installment is taken. They don't want to stop taking money from me. I would never sign up with them again. I leave messages and my local agent doesn't call back as promised. ****update**** originally I had given Terminix 3stars but constant harassing phone calls between 6 and 10pm nightly for the last two weeks from them trying to get us to reinstate service with them is why I am lowering my review to a 1 star review. Either they are losing customers and need to get back those they lost or their sales people are just a bunch of royal creeps. Either way, even if I decide to drop my current company, I will never sign up with Terminix again. We used them since the spring of 2016 for the seasonal service. The first year we had them was great, no problems whatsoever. But come the spring. 2018 spraying beside a drastic price increase, the quality gone down. I had to call them back several times to deal with a small ant issue around my kitchen sink and a carpenter ant issue that started right outside by my front door. They did take care of the small ant issue eventually when I requested a different person do the spraying but they insisted the treatment my regular guy done for the carpenter ants the first time was enough to take care of the problem. Well fast forward by 3 months - carpenter ants are far worse, occasionally making their way inside. Another pest control company sends a salesman around, offers to do far more - my entire 4000 square foot property inside and out for $45 less per quarter than Terminix, so I sign up with them, next day this new company does the first treatment of my property- the exterminator told me it could take up to 2 weeks to work, however in less than 24 hours all the carpenter ants are gone. There were also ants around my pool - which Terminix wouldn't do anything about (they only do perimeter of the house), those are gone too. I canceled my service contract with Terminix, which they were polite about, however, they never bothered to tell the guy who does my seasonal spraying. He called me yesterday to let me know he was coming today for the summer treatment. I tried calling him back but oddly the number on my caller id for him wasn't in service. So I called Terminix directly, they put me on hold while leaving this guy a voicemail. But low and behold today at 2pm my 15yr old calls me while i'm at the store to tell me this guy is here to do the seasonal spraying. When my son tried to explain "my mom canceled service" the guy was completely confused about it and left a card for me to reschedule. WORST WORST WORST customer service I have EVER encountered. Please, Yelp, give us the option to give zero stars! Saturday night we discovered we had carpenter ants eating a hole through the wall in my son's room and entering our house like a fast-growing little ant parade. My husband tried to find a quick fix for the problem while I started calling exterminators, looking for someone who could come out right away. After my third or fourth phone call I realized that probably wasn't an option, so I settled for Terminix telling me they could come out Monday between 1-5. Then I had to listen to a ten minute sales pitch. I tried to be patient but sorry, my infant son was screaming for attention while ants flowed into his bedroom - read the room, salesperson, now is not the time. So I told the guy I'm not interested in additional services right now, can we please just take care of the one problem and then we'll talk. He said no problem, gave me a price (and the hold hit my account before we were even off the phone), and I went back to helping my husband tape up the hole in our wall. Monday afternoon I called them to get an update on my appointment and after a 14 minute hold (yes I checked) I was told there was no record of my appointment. I said oh yes there better be, after the stupid sales pitch I had to listen to and getting a hold put on my account and me emphasizing that this was an urgent situation TWO days ago. She put me on hold again and after another ten minutes told me 'oh what you had wasn't an appointment, it was an appointment request'. WHAT does that even mean?! But wait, it gets better. Total phone time is at 45 minutes. The next person I talk to tells me: I'm sorry, but the service that one of OUR Terminix representatives signed you up for, booked you a fake appointment for, gave you a price and put a hold on your account for, IS NOT EVEN A SERVICE THAT WE PROVIDE. We don't do one-time services, only annual. Are you KIDDING me?! I'm sorry but by this point, I burst into tears right on the phone. Then this woman - whose name was Valerie - had the nerve to say 'before you go getting all upset' & I'm not sure where she was going with that rude sentence starter because I told her to cancel my appointment, delete my information from their system and lose my number. I know they're a big company and they don't care but how disgusting. I called Suburban and they'll be here tomorrow. I had actually called them first before Terminix on Saturday and they were at least honest enough to tell me they wouldn't be able to fit us in for a few days and I should probably shop around a little to see if I could get someone sooner, but to call back if I needed to. RUN! I initially signed up for Terminix services over two months ago. The customer service representative was great and the services that were described sounded appropriate. I initially called because we wanted indoor pest control. I got convinced to do a package of pest, rodent, and termite control. I scheduled the first treatment. I believe I received a call maybe 10-15 minutes prior to the treatment and when I arrived the technician installed termite treatment. When I asked if he needed to get into the house for pest treatment and rodent treatment, he said no and said that I didn't need it. I was surprised by this response because first of all, the pest treatment was the MAIN REASON why I called Terminix, and secondly it sounded to me like he was trying to get out of providing the treatment. He then stated that because my young child was present that he could not complete the pest treatment. No one informed me that the house had to be free of children and pets. I wouldn't have brought my young child to the new home we were moving into. Period. Then he told me that I had to call and schedule pest treatment. Sure, his job is not to be friendly and interact so much with customers, but he was not helpful and seems to care less about assisting with the process. I brushed it off, thanked him and called to schedule pest treatment for the following week. The following week came and no one showed up. I called Terminix again and at the time of the call a Terminix truck pulled up. Turns out they were there to treat the neighbor's home. NO ONE SHOWED UP. No one called. Nothing. I requested to cancel the services that day and to cancel all future charges for the services. I was told that since we did not receive FULL AND COMPLETE services, that the cancellation would be processed and the regional office/Ronkonkoma office would be notified of the same. I asked what type of follow-up there would be from Terminix to confirm that cancellation was processed. I was assured that outreach would be made within days. WEEKS later nothing, no call. I didn't see any charges so I assumed it was cancelled. Then I get a message saying payment was processed. I called this week and AGAIN requested that the services be cancelled and ALL FUTURE PAYMENTS be cancelled. I was now being told that I could not do this because of the time frame. I was also told that I could be treated for pests on 6/23 and that an additional service would be added on to the plan for free. I DO NOT WANT SERVICES from a Terminix. They are now saying that due to the grace period passing that the cancellation fee will be the fee of a full year of services! Insane. I should not be getting charged for an INCOMPLETE job and terrible follow-up. I have yet to hear from anyone at the Ronkonkoma office like I was told I would. Completely nightmare. It has been over a month and still no calls back. Issue is not resolved. I should have went with a locally owned business. read more

I was told I would get a refund and I never did. Anytime you call they will write an email to management and tell you someone will get back to you. My favorite was the installer that flat out told me what I had signed up for was a "scam" and I did not need to replace any of the equipment I bought. I started using Terminix and paid for the year of service in advance. Sold my home and transferred the remaining services to my new home (March 2019). Spoke to a representative at the Terminix office, while transferring addresses, and communicated that I would not be renewing, when the year of paid up services, was up. Received a message in September that a service technician was coming to provide service. I thought this was part of my plan that was paid for. Then received a bill for services rendered. I called the company to dispute the bill, stating that I requested in March 2019 to not renew services. My dispute was denied. Paid the bill on November 13. Company does not stand by their word. 4 months after selling my house, closing my account, and moving out of state, I was charged for a full year of service. I had emptied that bank account and opened a new one in my new state, so I was charged over draft fees as well. After calling customer service 6 times in 4 weeks, usually waiting well over an hour to speak to someone, I still have not received a refund. I have a termite contract and pay $92.00 per month. Never had a termite problem in 30 years but thought best to address the issue when I called for mice. After two years of paying this contract, this year I now have Termites. I called on Wednesday April 13. No answer -left MSG. No return call so I called again Friday 4/15.- no answer left MSG. On Monday I received a text that they will be at my home on 4/20. Termite swarm all over the floor and furniture now. On 4/20 they NEVER showed up. I called every day and left messages no one returned my calls. I called the complaint line and was told someone would call me back the next day. no call. I kept calling and finely they said the would send an inspector on Wednesday 4/ 27. Inspector did show and had an small aerosol can and sprayed where he thought they were coming in. I cleaned and scrubbed the entire room, but the next day they were back as bad as ever. Called again and made an appointment for Friday 4/29. Received confirmation email the nigh before. NO SHOW again. I called every day and spoke to customer service. They were nice but noneffective as no one returned my call. Finley I complained to BBB and the next day I received a call. They set up an appointment for Thursday 5/5. Today I receive a text that my Terminix service will be at my house on 5/19. This is now a month. I doubt they will show. They are abominable, horrible and do not care about their customers. They have no problem collecting their fee each month but they do no respond to any problems. Bait and Switch. Signed up, paid almost $1800 for "Exclusion Service." Asked if there would be any other fees and was told "No, not unless you re-up in a year." Then I find out after I received a $129 bill 3 months later that I was also signed up for Pest Control. After calling "Customer Service" three times asking to speak to the local branch, I finally got a call from the Branch Service Manager. I asked for a refund of the $129. where do i start?? I have a bee/wasp situation. They were getting so bad they were starting to come into my home. I called to set up an appt i was able to get someone to come out pretty fast. they came earlier than the scheduled time and tried to call but the phone person took down the wrong number. The man comes and sprays, when i say spray it looked like a squirt from a windex bottle. I was told in two days my problem will be gone and if it wasn't i can call back and they'll come back as many times as possible (within 30 days) to fix it. the bees were gone for 5 days they came back i started seeing them in my house again. i call to set up another appt and now i can't get anything for over a week. MAKES ZERO SENSE. you're covered for 30 days IF you can get someone there. Been trying to reach Terminex for about a week. Not one has replied to my phone calls and messages. I have been paying this company for 2 years and have a tech, Emile, that stops by periodically. He always says if I need him, just call. Well I have been texting and calling him for days as well. NO REPLY! Finally I commented on Facebook. A customer service rep named Erica replied. First I got the canned reply that everyone else gets with the fake apology. Then she asked to to instant message my information to her. I did that and she claimed there was no record of my home with Terminex. So I am now wondering, who is this man Emile who shows up in the Terminex truck in my driveway periodically? Who have I been paying for 2 years? Is he misrepresenting Teminex? Is Terminex that unorganized that they don't even know who they service? All good questions that I will never know the answer to because NOBODY FROM TERMINEX WILL GET BACK TO ME!!!! BULLY SALES MANAGER, NO CALLBACKS, STAY AWAY AND HIRE SOMEONE ELSE (YOU'VE BEEN WARNED) I called the office asking for the existing service contract the prior homeowner had paid for in full to be transferred to my name before it expired. I called twice to confirm and they said it was done. Guess what, NEVER DONE. This was the difference of $300 renewal rollover vs the $1,100 I had to pay for a brand new contract. I am a business woman so obviously this was never done so the office could get a higher commission. When I contacted the office to speak to the manager I was directed to Dean who at first was very friendly and told me he would help remedy my problem but who later decided that he would speak to me in such a degrading bullying tone. This was the first strike and I should have NOT proceeded. However, a nice salesman from their office came and was able to talk me into it and greatly apologized although I had to speak to Dean again who treated me again like I was a dumb woman on the phone with his macho voice and inappropriate attitude when negotiating the price of my contract. I have never been spoken to this way before by anyone from a professional company. I decided that because the salesperson who came to my house was nice, I would buy the $1,100 contract although I didn't feel "good" about it because of how I was spoken to and treated by Dean. (I also heard Dean degrading and yelling at the salesperson that visited my house through the phone). I felt bad for the guy. Well IT GETS WORSE. I now have pests in my house- termites I think and I have called the terminix medford/ ronkonkoma office directly over more than 5 times in the last couple of weeks and NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALL. The Ronkonkoma manager is a joke! Maybe he doesn't even exist! Will be going to BBB with the games they play! DO NOT HIRE TERMINEX. Just had a service done and I was told that it was included on my annual plan the date of service. Then got a bill! I called and called and called to speak to someone and they said the contract expires the month before you signed up!!! What a gimmick!! Now they send me to collections and have I heard from the manager?! Any manager?! Anyone who even does the accounting and billing? Nope!! When you call the person you get barely speaks English and says they will email the manager and promise that they will call you back in 24-48 hours but that nobody is available to speak to immediately. BEWARE of SCAM - On Friday 5/19/17, John Lupo, a Customer Service Specialist from Terminix of Medford NY Branch arrived at my home to perform a Real Estate Inspection. After he introduced himself, he proceeded to ask why I needed the inspection. I told him it was a requirement for a mortgage refinance. The first red flag was that, before looking around my home, he found it necessary to inform me that the verification he would provide is a legal document and emphatically expressed that he cannot lie on the form, and must report everything he finds. After looking around my home and property he finally declared that he has found evidence of termites. He then led me to small, old rotten board in my basement bathroom, a board that had long ago been repaired with a new board behind it. I told him the house was nearly 60 years old and the damage was likely caused by moisture from the shower, as it was in a bathroom, and pointed out that it had already been repaired with a new board many years before I purchased the home. I explained that the damage was not likely caused termites because the boards around it including the replacement board were untouched. I also explained that I had a pest inspection done when I purchased the home with no evidence of termites. I asked him, that if he felt the damage was caused by termites to show me a termite, and of course he could not. He then informed me he didn't need to prove any termites currently existed, only that they once "might" have existed. I realized then that no amount of logic or explanation would persuade him to change his mind, as he had found what he was looking for all along, an excuse to sell me more. He then proceeded to transition from pest inspector to salesman. He said as a result of his findings could not provide me with clean pest inspection report, and as a result the mortgage company would not provide the mortgage. "Hmmm, what do you recommend?" I asked, waiting for the sales pitch, and boy he didn't disappoint. He informed me that my only option was to treat the entire property, and if he were to do it that day I could save 10%, after which he would provide a report that would be sufficient to satisfy the mortgage company's requirements. Well after measuring my property, he revealed that the treatment would cost approx. $2100. I told him no thanks, he charged my credit card $162.50 and left. I then called another pest inspection company for a second opinion. An inspector from another company arrived later that same day, inspected my property, including the same bathroom that Terminix inspector claimed to have termite damage, and found absolutely no evidence of termites, termite damage, or any other pests and provided a report stating the same. On 5/19/17 at 1:57pm, the same day of the inspection, I received an email from Terminix containing a link to my Real Estate Inspection report, which included a "Notice of Cancellation" form that stated "You may cancel this transaction without any penalty or obligation within three business days from the above date. If you cancel, any property traded in, any payments made by you under the contract or sale, any negotiable instrument executed by you will be returned within 10 business days following receipt by the seller of your cancellation notice." I decided to cancel the transaction with Terminix and get a refund. The Terminix inspection was performed Friday 5/19/17, and although the "Notice of Cancellation" form stated it must be returned within 3 business days, the bottom of the form stated it must be returned no later than midnight Monday, 5/22/17; definitely not 3 business days, and quite likely in violation of NYS contract laws. In any event, I immediately took the completed form to the post office and mailed it, as directed on the form, certified return receipt, to the Terminix Medford office,. It arrived at 12:06pm on Monday afternoon. I waited for a refund, however the funds were never returned. I called my credit card company, explained the situation and provided them with the necessary documentation, including Proof of delivery, and they charged back the account. On, 10/1/17 I received an email from Terminix stating that they have canceled my transaction. On 10/19/17 I receive letter from Nationwide Credit Inc, a collection agency, stating that my Terminix account had been sent to collections and the balance now sits at $195.53. On 11/16/17 I received a call from Nationwide Credit Inc, and the representative explained that my Terminix account had been sent to them for collection and they requested I pay $195.53. I refused to pay, explaining that on 10/1/17 Terminix canceled the transaction. The stated they had not received any notice of cancellation. I guess the moral of this story is always get a second opinion and beware of unscrupulous salesman disguised as pest inspectors. read more
