Signs in front of the suite
Emmett T.

Tera Tea House has been open for about a month now in the City Heights neighborhood. It occupies an end suite in a small professional plaza that was the home of a previous bubble tea shop. Dedicated parking spaces were available behind the building as the spots were shared with its neighbors. The inside had about a half dozen tables for seating. A social media friendly green wall was off to a right corner. Two self-service ordering stations were set in front of the service counter with menu screens hanging behind it. Boba tea, Vietnamese coffee, sandwiches, and banh mi were the main offerings. I chose a Peach Tea from the Fruit Tea section and a Grape Oolong Tea from the Fresh Brewed Tea/Milk Tea section for my order. Only mini boba pearls were available versus the normal size so I added that topping to the Peach Tea. The items were prepared within a few minutes, and I tried them on the spot. The peach drink had neither a strong fruity flavor nor a prominent tea presence. The mini pearls were mushy and overcooked which was unusual because most places undercook the tapioca. As for the grape drink, it had a weird, almost metallic aftertaste. I don't think remaking either one would have been beneficial. I have tried dozens of boba tea shops across SD County, and the quality here was on the lower end of the spectrum. I rounded my rating for Tera Tea House to a three star level because of the good service provided by the worker on duty.

Banh mi

Banh mi only has a few slices of meat, so I would say it is pricey in this area. Got the hibiscus tea and wintermelon tea and both were nothing impressive, just some artificial syrup mixed with tea. They didn't have the cute toppings on grand opening day as well which were the one I was most excited about. They also gave out the mini tumbler with order $35+ but it wasn't as nice as the photos they had posted. Basically it was a black and white dino sticker (not even a colored one) on a tiny tumbler

Vietnamese Coffee was delicious!

The service was great and my coffee was delicious and strong. Will definitely be back!

There's also a Limited Series, a coffee series, plus all the classic milk teas, fruit teas, and milk based drinks. You still have all the usual customization options for sugar, ice, and toppings. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Parking was another pleasant surprise. I originally drove past thinking I'd have to search for street parking, but they actually have a shared lot. It made stopping in a lot easier than I expected. I ordered the On Cloud 9, which is a jasmine green milk tea with cheese foam and brown sugar boba. The drink itself was enjoyable. The jasmine wasn't overpowering, which let the cheese foam stand out without completely taking over the drink. I also liked that the sweetness of the brown sugar boba balanced the slight saltiness from the foam. Flavor-wise, I'd say it held its own against other boba shops in San Diego. The only thing that held it back was the boba. It had almost no chew left. Instead of adding texture, it kind of disappeared after one bite because it was so soft. Boba is one of those toppings that can completely change a drink. Even with that, I'd still come back. The menu has way too many interesting drinks to judge the shop off one order. If the boba had been fresher, this easily could've been one of those drinks I'd order again. I think next time I'd branch out and try something from their Limited Series instead.

Inside the building, I was greeted by a plump, circular, brown figure with a smile on his face. He had a delightful yellow satchel on, a matching beret, and a yummy-yummy-in-my-tummy-looking milk tea in his left hand. The warm atmosphere made me feel like I was being hugged by the figure himself. When I laid my eyes on him, I didn't just want him, I wanted to BE him. A voluptuous tapioca pearl with a constant smile. I was determined to do whatever it took to become him. The first step was to acquire the same drink he had in his left hand, which I assumed to be a Jasmine Green Milk Tea with 70% sugar, less ice, and boba. One particularly sweet lady delivered me my drink by hand. One, two, three sips later--the Jasmine Green Milk Tea with 70% sugar, less ice, and boba didn't just hit my tastebuds, it hit my soul. I could tell that the tea, the architecture, even the workers were birthed by certified Taiwanese Professionals. EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, was exceptionally creamy as one might say. I felt one step closer to being Mr. Tai Wan himself. (my self-proclaimed name for the voluptuous tapioca pearl). Later that day, I picked up a yellow bag and hat from the nearby Burlington. I looked in the mirror, with my Jasmine Green Milk Tea with 70% sugar, less ice, and boba in my left hand. I grinned at the thought that one day I will become a voluptuous tapioca pearl. I owe my life to Mr. Tai Wan and TPTEA. Thank you.......for everything...or should I say....xie xie. I WILL be coming back, for the tea AND Mr. Tai Wan.

I always only get the Honeydew Bubble at 50% sugar with light boba. Tell me why it still tastes like 100% sugar? The same thing happened with the Mango Sago, which was wayyy too sweet. And what makes it even more disappointing is that they've raised their prices. One drink is now just under $10, so when I'm paying that much for ONE drink, I expect the recipe and quality to be consistent every time. Another thing that really bothers me is seeing the girls working with their hair completely down. It's honestly pretty off-putting when you're handling food and drinks, and I really hope the team is being properly trained in food safety and hygiene standards. I genuinely love Urban Bubble, which is why this is so disappointing. Please adjust the sugar levels or train the team to follow the recipes more consistently! There is only ONE person who consistently makes my drinks perfectly every time. Hopefully he reads this and knows exactly who he is lol.

This review is for the donuts specifically:…read more These damn donuts have a chokehold on my partner and I. They're so light. Fluffy. Tasty. Subtle but not? the ratio of topping and icing to donut if perfectly crafted. Every flavor I've tried I've been a fan of. The first time I came, Wednesday Adams (not really but some young emo girl who was not happy to be there) served us with an attitude that made us almost leave. Then we had the donuts and was like damn. We'll give them one more chance lol. That's how good they are haha. Point is. Aside from the kids that work there and are sometimes a little too chill or grumpy, the quality of the product exceeds any service complaints I have so. I would encourage others to try it

I really love their pink decoration inside, it seems like they kinda went all out with pink. You can order from the kiosk and they offer more than Boba tea here. For mochi doughnut I give them three out of five it's not really memorable, but it's also not that bad. For their Boba tea, I will give them four out of five. We've been here several times and they are consistent with Boba texture every time. However, they are very stingy with their Boba proportion.
