I cannot share enough incredible things about my experience at Boba Monkey. It truly was one of the most thoughtful, delicious, and memorable beverage experiences I've ever had. From the very beginning, I was blown away by the level of care and attention I received. The owner, Le, personally answered my call and guided me through the menu with a level of detail and warmth that immediately put me at ease. I have specific safety needs and allergies, and she handled everything with such grace and professionalism. She was clear, direct, and supported me through every action of the process without ever overwhelming me. What I deeply appreciated out most was how naturally she accommodated my needs. There wasn't a moment where I felt like an inconvenience. Instead, I felt genuinely cared for. Le's passion for her craft is unmistakable. She shared how she has studied flavors extensively, traveling to Vietnam and Taiwan to deepen her understanding of traditional techniques and flavor profiles. That dedication shines through in every sip. She explained how she carefully develops her own recipes, blending cultural influences with precision and creativity. Even the boba itself is made fresh every morning, which makes a huge difference. I can taste the quality, texture, and freshness immediately. I started with the taro milk tea (with almond milk due to my allergies), and it was absolutely phenomenal. The drink was luxuriously creamy with a silky, smooth texture that coated the palate in the most satisfying way. The taro flavor was rich and earthy with a subtle nuttiness, balanced by a gentle sweetness that never became overpowering. Just when it seemed like it might lean too sweet, the creaminess would round everything out perfectly, creating a beautifully harmonious flavor profile. Adding the boba elevated the experience even more. The pearls were soft yet chewy, with just the right amount of bounce, and carried a delicate sweetness that complemented the drink rather than competing with it. It was, without question, the best taro milk tea I've ever had. Next, I tried the "Over the Rainbow," and it was just as impressive in a completely different way. This drink was bright, vibrant, and incredibly refreshing. The tartness of the lemonade provided a crisp, zesty backbone, while the popping boba added bursts of sweetness that danced across the tongue. Each sip was layered and dynamic, cool, tangy, sweet, and slightly effervescent in feeling. Visually, it was stunning as well, with beautiful, shifting colors that made the experience feel almost magical. It was as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the taste buds. Both drinks were so good that I drank them down almost immediately! I didn't even think to take a photo! I even found myself savoring the melted ice afterward just to enjoy every last trace of flavor, which shares a lot about the quality and balance of the drinks. To top it all off, Analise, who helped me at checkout, was equally kind and accommodating. She continued the same level of care and attentiveness, making sure my safety needs were respected and that I felt comfortable throughout the entire experience. Boba Monkey has truly set a new standard for me. Between the exceptional quality of the drinks, the depth of flavor, the cultural authenticity, and the genuine kindness of the staff, this place is in a league of its own. This is a kiosk on a random corner next to a barber shop just west of I-15 in the Normal Heights neighborhood. I believe a previous bubble tea vendor operated out of this shack before Boba Monkey did. The menu offered iced coffee, matcha, milk tea, slushes, and specialty drinks in regular and large sizes. For a place with minimal overhead costs, the prices were high with a range from $6.50 to $8.50. Toppings were $1 or $2 apiece. From the list of five Milk Teas, I picked a large size of the first one which was the namesake Boba Monkey Milk Tea. I requested less ice, normal sugar, and the addition of boba pearls. The cup was a 20 oz serving, and the total was over $10 after tax and gratuity. I didn't find this milk tea to be anything more than ordinary. There wasn't a strong tea flavor, and the boba pearls were average for chewiness. You may also have to drive around the side streets before locating a curbside spot if the ones directly in front were occupied. For the quality and cost of the product I tried, I gave a generous three star rating for Boba Monkey. read more

My cousin and I walked here from his house He saw it on the way home and wanted to go. There was a line when we arrived. So many other locals in the neighborhood walked here, excited about having our own boba place. It opened a week ago on 8/8 The owner Le, was so excited about all the locals coming to her Boba Monkey stand Le is so personable and resourceful. She recommended some restaurants to try. It's right on the corner, easy to notice driving by on Adams, with easy side street parking The ambiance was brimming with excitement. There's a little outdoor seating on Adams. I wanted a little milk tea treat and after running some errands I came across Boba Monkey. I decided to place and order for pick up instead to save some time, so I chose the ube matcha with boba. When I got there it was ready for me which was great, but the coloring really threw me off. No vibrant hues of green or purple as you'd expect from an Ube Matcha milk tea and the taste was really off putting, something in it tasted burnt? I really like the little kiosk stand and the barista was really friendly but man was that drink bad, I brought it home and dumped it out. For the cost, I was really disappointed and I don't think I will be making it back. read more

Parking - no designated parking. May the odds not be in your favor to find a place to park within reasonable distance Menu - good size menu - Lots of options. Finally, a real boba restaurant on Adams! We were excited to see how quickly this place opened up. We ordered the SaiGon Sunrise Ca Phe and the Ube Crème Coffee, and both lived up to their names. The Saigon is their spin on a classic Vietnamese iced coffee sweet and milky with a hint of caramel. The standout for us was definitely the Ube Crème Coffee, with its sweet coconut notes and purple foam on top! If sweet coffee is your thing then this place is perfect for you! Thanks for the great customer service - looking forward to coming here again :) P.S - Yes, parking in the area can be sparse but that's the case for most restaurants along Adams, so it's hardly fair to hold it against a great new business like this. read more

Super cute and a great new addition to Adams Ave. The girls loved the rainbow drink with crystal boba. Saigon coffee was strong like Vietnamese coffee should be! I found easy parking right around the corner at the park. If you already found yourself on Adams Ave by one of the many bars or restaurants take its just a few blocks down. read more

We tried Boba Monkey for the first time and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Taro Milk Tea w/ boba, Over The Rainbow w/ rainbow poppers, and The Nitro Crack Coffee. All three drinks were on point, the taro had the perfect taste & sweetness and the boba was cooked perfectly. The Over The Rainbow was hit, it was refreshing drink. My daughter was a big fan of it too. Let's talk about the Nitro Crack Coffee, my husband finished that drink within minutes, I couldn't even take a photo of it. :) It was literally that good, it's his to go coffee! Wanted a quick matcha fix, decided to try a new place as this is was on the way to get gas. Small booth like stand in the corner of a pretty crowded street (no street parking!) got the banana cream matcha and it completely lacked any matcha flavor:( mostly tasted the banana cream and heavy on the milk. Felt more like a banana milk tea versus matcha. It wasn't bad, just wasn't what I had wanted. read more

I see great things for Boba Monkey in Normal Heights. I've had both a boba tea (Purple Passion) and coffee (Banana Crème Foam) from them so far and both were top notch. For those worried about parking, you can order ahead online and pickup. Ward Canyon Park is also nearby to sit and enjoy your beverage in! read more

What a charming little spot! Love the monkey and the convenient area. My husband and I stopped by after a long soccer tournament and Boba Monkey was able to help with our thirst. We ordered the nitro cracked coffee (which my hubby loved!) and the purple passion specialty drink for me. The staff was very helpful so sweet. She was able to make the perfect sugar level that we wanted. The flavored and taste was well balanced. We were pressed on time and the drinks were made very quickly as well. My 5 year old daughter wanted to try boba for the first time and we found this gem today. They weren't even open yet and were training new employees for their grand opening 8/8. They were so kind and offered to make this gorgeous Over the Rainbow with crystal boba. My daughter loved it and we will definitely be back! Went to Boba Monkey Saturday afternoon. 2 people working. No line. Ordered a matcha milk tea with double boba. Took a slurp before leaving and the boba was way off. Either days old or not cooked. Brought it to their attention. They were in denial. No offer to make it right or refund. I showed them the boba and they admitted they're having trouble with the boba preparation. First time - we ordered three drinks, I specifically had the Strawberry Fresca and my daughter had Ube Matcha, I am not sure what we ordered for my wife. The owners were super welcoming, gave us the basic run-down, it was a 1 month anniversary. Anyway - it was very tasty, a cool new local business and it was a great experience. There's also a Limited Series, a coffee series, plus all the classic milk teas, fruit teas, and milk based drinks. You still have all the usual customization options for sugar, ice, and toppings. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Parking was another pleasant surprise. I originally drove past thinking I'd have to search for street parking, but they actually have a shared lot. It made stopping in a lot easier than I expected. I ordered the On Cloud 9, which is a jasmine green milk tea with cheese foam and brown sugar boba. The drink itself was enjoyable. The jasmine wasn't overpowering, which let the cheese foam stand out without completely taking over the drink. I also liked that the sweetness of the brown sugar boba balanced the slight saltiness from the foam. Flavor-wise, I'd say it held its own against other boba shops in San Diego. The only thing that held it back was the boba. It had almost no chew left. Instead of adding texture, it kind of disappeared after one bite because it was so soft. Boba is one of those toppings that can completely change a drink. Even with that, I'd still come back. The menu has way too many interesting drinks to judge the shop off one order. If the boba had been fresher, this easily could've been one of those drinks I'd order again. I think next time I'd branch out and try something from their Limited Series instead.

My friend had the Okinawa Milk Tea with Pearls, I'm unsure if they asked for a certain sweetness level or not. They said the tea was good, but the pearls weren't good. Something to note, I charged the drinks on my card and rather than saying Sayaka Tea, it said Sharetea...interesting. I wonder if they rebranded themselves or ?? Each drinks were around ~$7-8 ish! I ordered the Brown Sugar Milk Tea, and not only did it take forever to come out, but it also tasted nothing like what I expected. The drink was insanely sweet, but somehow still bland. There was barely any tea flavor, and it just felt like watered-down sugar with milk. The boba wasn't even included--it cost extra, and honestly, it wasn't worth it. The pearls were tough and had a weird texture, not the chewy softness you'd expect. I also added cheese foam for another $2, and it didn't mix in at all. It just sat on top like it didn't even want to be there. With the long wait, the extra charges, and the disappointing flavor, this drink was a total miss. Boba Monkey might have other options, but I won't be risking it again with the Brown Sugar Milk Tea. read more

The flavors are so unique and delicious - they are out of this world. The boba is fresh and roll off your tongue. Delicious! Perfect for a break, and my daughter loved her Over the Rainbow, a mix of pink lemonade and popping-style boba. This is my second time coming here, and I just want to say it's worth the trip! My mom got a strawberry matcha and I got a banana crème coffee. The strawberry matcha has a great taste to it, and both flavors do not overpower each other at all. The banana crème coffee is my second favorite (aside from their strawberry milk tea), you can really taste the banana in the coffee. It's not too sweet, but it's also not too strong. I originally drove past thinking I'd have to search for street parking, but they actually have a shared lot. It made stopping in a lot easier than I expected. I ordered the On Cloud 9, which is a jasmine green milk tea with cheese foam and brown sugar boba. The drink itself was enjoyable. The jasmine wasn't overpowering, which let the cheese foam stand out without completely taking over the drink. I also liked that the sweetness of the brown sugar boba balanced the slight saltiness from the foam. Flavor-wise, I'd say it held its own against other boba shops in San Diego. The only thing that held it back was the boba. It had almost no chew left. Instead of adding texture, it kind of disappeared after one bite because it was so soft. Boba is one of those toppings that can completely change a drink. Even with that, I'd still come back. The menu has way too many interesting drinks to judge the shop off one order. How inventive, I would totally grab a boba if I were getting my nails done. They sell Taiwanese style boba and had milk teas, fresh teas, coffees, slushies, and refresher type beverages. They were out of green tea that night, so I ordered a Rising Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea. It had a well balanced flavor of the tea. I added herbal jelly to it and it made the drink less plain. My total was around $8 for the tea but it was a good portion. It's nice to have boba tea in the area as I feel like Hillcrest has a shortage of these places!

They have a great combo special which is one boba drink and a bite off the "Bites" menu for $9.99 plus tax. It's a great deal. The black milk tea was good. It was smooth and rich but the black tea flavor needed more of that black tea flavor. It was mild yet tasty of course. The popcorn chicken was very good. The deep fried chicken morsels had a nice well seasoned crisp light breading and the all white meat chicken inside was very tender. They served the popcorn chicken with a side of sweet & sour sauce, and hot mustard & ketchup. The popcorn chicken was definitely a repeat. The older gent who stepped in to take my order and make my beverage was a regular who works at Wong's. He was kind and helpful.

I genuinely think this place is a hidden gem and probably one of the best coffees I've had in SD (purely based on taste). The prices are very reasonable, the barista lady was also friendly, and the service was fast. Will def come back again if I'm in the area.

She gave suggestions on the drinks down to the sugar levels to suit our personal tastes - we got the matcha latte and Biscoff latte (both 20 oz large size) - that matcha had such a beautiful green color! It's ceremonial and we could definitely taste the quality, it wasn't grainy at all - the Biscoff latte was yummy as well, I love the strong smooth espresso that still shines through and the whipped foam on top and Biscoff spread around the cup were great additions. I got less sweet and it was the perfect level for me - we'll definitely be back for more matcha and the summer seasonal :)

My friend got the Thai iced tea for some caffeine and really enjoyed it. We also tried their waffles, which were such a fun surprise! You can choose from custard, chocolate, or matcha cream toppings. The waffle itself is crunchy, and the sweet cream on top goes so well with it. Friendly staff, indoor seating, and plenty of parking since it's in a strip mall. Definitely coming back to try more!
