Hawaiian fruit tea with lychee jelly
    Bethany M.

Solid beverages - they have quite a few fruit teas to choose from; we tried the Hawaiian (pineapple orange grapefruit) and peach kiwi. 50 percent sugar for the teas was plenty sweet - the jelly toppings were very sweet on their own. I would avoid the 100 percent sugar option altogether.

I want to start by saying I was surprised by how the business owner has been responding to reviews. I understand negative feedback can be frustrating, but it's still feedback and shouldn't be taken so personally. Some of the responses came off more defensive than professional, which honestly impacted my overall impression. I was originally going to give 4 stars, but ended up taking two away because of this. It just made me question supporting a business that handles feedback that way. I remember coming to this location when I first started at SDSU. It used to be a ShareTea and they seem to still carry a very similar menu. We got lucky with street parking closest to the storefront. Inside felt clean and comfortable, and I even mentioned to my husband that I could see myself coming here more often to study. The worker was super sweet and welcoming. She was working alone but still managed to be attentive to us and also to third party delivery drivers coming in. Sayaka Tea offers a range of drinks like milk teas, fruit teas, ice blends, and specialty drinks. I also noticed some seasonal drinks like Valentine's Day specials still being advertised, so I'm not sure if they're still offered. They also have a 10% discount if you check in on Yelp, which is a nice touch. After ordering, we sat down and waited no more than 5 minutes for both drinks. We got an Oreo Ice Blend with pearl and a mango green milk tea with pearl, both at 80% sweetness. The Oreo Ice Blend was still pretty sweet, so I would ask for less sugar next time. It also had a slight coconut-like aftertaste which threw me off. It leaned more cookies and cream than Oreo, which if you know you know. The boba was alright, a little mushy and lacking that bouncy, chewy texture, probably not the freshest batch. My mango green milk tea was really good. There were chunks of mango mixed in with the drink alongside the boba, which made it feel like they use a real fruit puree or jam. The green milk tea had light floral notes with a creamy base that balanced everything well. I would definitely come back for this drink, just with a different topping. Overall, my experience inside was great, which makes this more disappointing. I do want to come back, but the way the owner responds to customers does make me hesitant to support this location.

This place is always great; I've been here many times. The staff are lovely and enthusiastic; they're always helpful and recommend delicious drinks. The drinks are always fresh and have just the right amount of sweetness. I really enjoy their drinks.

    Taro slush with egg pudding
    Mei T.

I came here after dinner to get a drink for the drive home. The taro slush called out to me, so that was the evening's choice, with egg pudding added. I ordered this 50% sweet, and the level of sweetness was a bit much for me. I should've gone with 30% sweetness. Overall, the drink wasn't bad. With the exception of the cute mural, the shop wasn't very nicely decorated. There were a decent number of tables, but the decor wasn't very inviting. The service was ok, I only had to wait 5 minutes for my order.

    Brown sugar
    Chanel Y.

I came in here right before closing (unknowingly) and the girl working was so sweet! She made my brown sugar boba fast and it was soooo good! The boba was perfectly soft and you could really taste the brown sugar. I'll definitely be back!

    Classic (black) Milk Tea
    Mai H.

Stopped by this morning to try out their milk tea and asked the cashier for a recommendation with a strong tea flavor. She suggested the classic black milk tea, at 50% sweet. The drink was decent, but I was hoping for a bolder, more pronounced tea taste. It felt a little underwhelming. However, the boba texture was pretty good, nice and chewy. Their menu somewhat reminds me of ShareTea's menu. What stood out was the excellent service. I initially went with 50% sweetness based on the cashier's suggestion, but it turned out too bland for my taste. She was super friendly and had no problem adjusting the sweetness for me on the spot.

SAYAKA TEA @ ROLANDO/SDSU A spot that used to be owned by ShareTea is now turned into Sayaka Tea. The menu's are the exact same which creeps me out, not sure if these businesses collided or if it was a whole new rebrand. The drinks are awful, powdery, sugary, you can easily taste the artificial flavouring. Service is awful, the workers look like they are in horrible working labor conditions, and the place is small, and kind of odd feeling. The place itself though is clean. No parking, besides putting your hazards on in the streets. Wouldn't recommend anyone come to this place. It was low quality and inconvenience on a place. Boba is sugar and low quality used of products.

Taro Pearl Milk Tea with crema

BOBA SESSION (4.25 stars) - DRINK: good - PRICE: pricy - SERVICE: great - AMBIANCE: cafe Not all good boba places are in Convoy. Honestly, I haven't had a good boba experience in this neck of the woods UNTIL I came up on Sayaka Tea. Their menu was plentiful of thirst quenching options but with so many menus to look at - on the walls, on the counter, the main board menu it was a bit overwhelming it made me feel indecisive. And then being asked a few times if I was ready. I knew I wanted to try something else but decided to play safe and show a picture on yelp. TARO PEARL MILK TEA WITH CREMA ($8.57) - good safe choice! Quality of overall boba drink was good. Not that cheap sweet sugar watered down milky taste but bodied milky taste with the right amount of sweetness. The boba pearls were warm and soft and stayed soft. Perfect execution of boba pearls. The crema had this cheesy foam flavor which oddly went well with the taro (kind of reminded me of a liquid ube ensamada - if you Filipino you'll know what I'm talking about). It was a nice sip treat when looking for something alternative to a shake. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Until the next review...

This will be an awesome review. First off Rose was great she informed us on everything. Say hello if she helps you. They have milk teas, fruit teas, ice creams. This is a must try. Very clean and sheik with painted mural and kool chandelier lights. There is a parking structure next door and parking in front. There is plenty of seating inside and a table outside for your enjoyment. My Hawaiian tea was hands down a 10. I have been to many teas places but the vibe and service was like no other. Stop by and try it out. Rose thank you again for the matcha lesson and we will see you soon Thank You!!!

    Okinawa Pearl Milk Tea
    Jack M.

This place makes some pretty good milk tea. I had the Okinawa pearl milk tea with no sugar added, which is the way it comes here. The roasted brown sugar flavor was very good, but a little on the sweeter side than I would of hoped. The milk tea cost $6 and some change. The service was friendly enough, and they offer a good amount of inside seating and a couple of tables outside.

Passion fruit, orange, and grapefruit tea with popping boba Peach ice blend with lychee
    Tiffany P.

Came here with some friends for the first time because of the reviews. I got the passion, orange, and grapefruit tea with popping boba. It was really yummy and not too sweet because the worker recommended 50% sweetness. Very cute and very friendly worker. Seems like a nice place to study and hang out. Try here!

I was on my way to church and needed an early cup and was surprised how many shops were not open at 7 AM. I'm sure I could have found a Starbucks but that's always reserved for a last resort. Big props to this spot being open early on a Sunday morning, so I could make it to church prayed up and fully caffeinated. The barista opened right on time (7 AM) I loved how friendly she was for it being that early, and she got me my drink within 3-4 minutes. I am not a big coffee drive-thru guy, but if I lived in the area, especially knowing it is veteran owned, I might become one. Thanks guys and best of luck!

I've had Red White and Badass Brew one other time after my husband raved about this cookies and cream latte he got here. It's a small, local, veteran owned shop, which honestly makes supporting it feel even better. So, I thought getting his favorite drink would help, but turns out that was a seasonal winter drink... please bring it back, it was sooo good. I got in line around 8:30 and there were two cars in front of me. This place is so small and cute, I actually used to work in one of these drive-thru kiosk style cafes so I didn't mind the short wait at all as usually its only one or two people working in there. I do wish they had a menu visible from the line because I couldn't decide what I wanted while waiting. The only things visible were the specials like an avocado toast and a "no lucks given" drink. I ended up pulling up the menu on my phone which works, but it would be more convenient if they had something displayed out front like a sandwich board or something. The employee was incredible, super friendly, my order was taken quick and my drink came out even quicker. It is a little on the pricier side for a cup of coffee but you are supporting a local business. With tip it came out to over $9 for a regular size. I ordered the no lucks given, which is a chocolate Irish cream latte, and swapped to oat milk. My first sip was amazing, a medium dark roast that wasn't bitter at all with a rich chocolate flavor. You could see the chocolate coating the walls of the cup and I'm pretty sure there was a cold foam on top that made it extra creamy. The overall drink was smooth and well balanced, just a little too sweet for my liking but that's something I can adjust next time. I did have a kind of odd moment though. My second sip was great until I got hit with a sudden punch of salt. Like a full on salt crystal just melted on my tongue for a good 10 seconds. It was strong and definitely woke me up... which I guess is what the coffee was supposed to do, I just didn't expect a surprise salt bomb to help with that. After that I checked my drink and everything looked fine and the rest of it tasted great. Overall I'll definitely be back. The service was great, the drink was solid, and I love supporting a spot like this. I can't wait to come here more often, and hopefully one day come back with my husband when comes home from deployment, with his cookies and cream drink back on the menu.
