I am extremely disappointed with my order. I paid $20 for this steak teppan bowl, and it was almost entirely rice. I'd estimate it was about 90% rice and only 10% steak, which is unacceptable for the price. I specifically ordered my steak medium rare, but what I received was well done and overcooked. The steak was dry and did not match what I ordered. The presentation was also very disappointing. The bowl looked thrown together with a few scattered pieces of steak on top of a large portion of rice. For a $20 meal, I expected a much better balance between the meat and rice, as well as better quality control. This was my first and last time ordering from Teppan Bowl. I'll be sticking with Spicy Mayo from now on because their portions are much more generous, their food is consistently well-prepared, and they make customers feel like they're getting what they paid for--not like every piece of meat is being rationed. I don't mind paying premium prices for quality food, but this portion and the incorrect steak temperature were not worth $20. Very disappointing. read more

Fried rice was a bit greasy otherwise it would be a 3 stars. I haven't been here for the longest time but since I was working in the area, I wanted to eat hibachi. Figured I'd try them again since it's been years boy did I make a BIG MISTAKE. Very skimpy on chicken/rice was bland really lacking typical tepan style fried rice flavor . Not only that but would never order again as their food wasn't only disappointing it was a serious health concern. Unfortunately when I pulled out the leftover rice to put onto a microwave safe plate so i could eat the overpriced meal I paid for I noticed they put it in the styrofoam container WAY TOO HOT & it had melted into the container. The whole bottom of the container literally had rice burnt in covering the whole thing. Styrene is dangerous & I'm praying I don't get sick knowing that I ate some of the food before noticing. It's my second time going here since they opened up and I'm sad to say I'll probably never come here again due to my experience tonight. After hanging out in the sitting area for about 5 minutes, we decided to go out and wait in our car. As we left, Bao told us that she would send us a text to let us know when our food was ready to go. At 8:05PM, I called to check if my order was ready. The woman on the phone sounded confused as she looked for my order. She asked for my name twice and asked for the last four digits of my phone number 4 times. She couldn't find my order. My husband walked back in around 8:15PM to see what the problem was and said that everyone was just standing around while the cook was cleaning up his area. He asked a cashier with blonde hair if my order was ready and she was eventually able to find the boba in the fridge. She gave him the drink, went and spoke to the cook, and told my husband it would be ANOTHER 20 MINUTES. I went back in with my husband around 8:20PM to ask for a refund because waiting an hour for two bowls for a total of $40 was insane. I vividly heard the blonde cashier tell the cook, "They want a refund." The cook replied, "Well I'm making it right now but GO AHEAD." Attitude and all. Dude, you didn't start working on our order until I asked for a refund and you're annoyed with US? Ridiculous. I'm not sure if he's the owner or something but get yourself together. We're not at fault. Anyway, the older asian woman who I assume is the manager came out and said she would give us a refund but that we HAD TO pay for the boba because "it would be thrown away and go to waste." I wasn't going to argue with her. She voided my order and we left. Do better. If you clearly have a habit of long wait times, please let people know. I had high hopes for Teppan Bowl as they opened the first week of March 2020 and shortly afterwards shelter in place occurred which I imagine is every new and established business worse nightmare. The dude and I walk here as it is just down the street from our place in Clovis. The first time we came was their second week of being open and what caught our eye was that they had boba drinks. We got the Taro and Strawberry with boba! The Taro drink was so delicious...probably the best in Fresno so far. I was not a fan of the strawberry boba as it tasted like Nestle Quick which brings me back to my childhood and drinking that stuff so much, no thank you. When we came in it smelled so good! Anywho, the second time we tried it, I decided to get the spicy chicken bowl which I did not know it was just their chicken topped with their spicy mayo sauce which tasted so gross as I don't like mayo. I wish they would advertise that. They seriously skimped out on the meat and packed it with A LOT of bacon fried rice. Not worth the money spent. The dudes plate was the same way, minus the mayo. I was very disappointed with my meal. I have not returned since as I want my money to be spent on meals or dishes I'll like and not be disgusted or skimpy on the meat, as you see in my pictures. The boba drinks on the other hand mainly the taro is delicious. I do hope they make it through this health crisis but I would not be surprised if they didn't. My friend told me about this place so figured I needed to give it a try. There are some mixed reviews which always makes a little nervous but I'm glad I cam anyway. I got the spicy chicken bowl with bacon fried rice. I felt the flavor of the fried rice was delicious. Most places when you order something spicy it really isn't but I was happily surprised that my chicken was actually spicy. The chicken was very tender and moist (I know everyone's favorite word). My husband got the Steak medium rare with bacon fried rice. Steak was cooked correctly and had lots of flavor. We also got the spicy roll, it was okay. I wasn't anything fancy but it still tasted good. I thought the pricing was fair, teppanyaki in general isn't "cheap". Hey all I hate to blast a place especially a mom and pop but the quality and quantity has changed here. Look at the photos. First their bowl is half the size that it was before.... It's rice for gods sake.... Are they learning from subway next door and thinking they're going to save a ton of money by putting 4 olives on their sandwiches? Fill the bowl rice is inexpensive and filling. 2nd that was not New York steak maybe not even sirloin their going sandwich meat in the Pho kinda Asian place? 3rd they cut the portion and raised the price. We found this place browsing on Yelp. I always go to Yelp to see what the reviews say about the place and what options we have around the place where we are. Moving on. What it got us to go try it was that it said Teppaniaky because if you go to other restaurants to have this it's a long wait to get seated and because it also said fast food restaurant I thought it was going to be fast you know? So we went in and ask for two bowls. One with teriyaki chicken and one one shrimp. Price was reasonable no complains on that. But when we where about to pay she mention the wait time to pick up and I was like WOW!! She said 45 min to pick up. We were so hungry and we were there already we decided to wait. We went to kill some time to the General dollar store until they called us. Exactly 45 min. We picked up the food and they give you large bowls. So it is plenty of food for one person. Plenty of chicken and shrimp. They also gave us my favorite teppaniaky sauce. Teriyaki spicy and sweet sauce. Very good!! When my daughter start eating it she was over the moon about the taste. She said. "Mom this is 10 out of 10. When I started eating it, it gave me a nice smoky flavor. The rice had bacon bits and some mixed vegetables. They also gave us side salad with a sweet tangy dressing. The salad was so fresh and the lettuce so crispy. I really loved the freshness of the salad. So, to me if they take their time they are making it fresh. It is just too long. I will definitely come back I just need to plan ahead. Popular place, rolled up one day when I couldn't decide what to have for dinner. Lucky for me, because I was craving horchata and lo and behold, they had horchata (in smoothie form, with boba). It hit the spot while I waited for my food (30 minutes, they warned ahead of time). The boba is fine for a restaurant. Not particularly plentiful or gourmet, but it comes with the drink which is nice, not an extra. I ordered the steak bowl that I saw so many on Yelp raving about. Portion size of the rice is good and it is quite delicious ... I don't think it's exactly the teppanyaki flavor but it bears a resemblance. The fried rice is quite oily and tasty (butter maybe?), I can see why it's popular. Overall it's not the type of food I generally go for. The ratio of rice to steak was okay. The cashier was really nice to explain the menu when I asked questions and wow, their phone was ringing off the hook! I was worried she would be impatient and stressed with me but she was very nice.
